^A gun doesn't whisper in your ear that you should kill. We should be asking why we are so willing to shoot others. I think gun control is a quick answer to a big problem. Though it will probably help I think we still need to get down to the root of the problem.

I am as irritated as anyone else here. I'm happy to discover it. smiling smiley The media is still leaning towards a headliner to sensational news. Murdering someone is common in the world, yet news reporters and agencies around the nation had grappled onto it as a "new trend" for the sake of their viewer counts. Perhaps Holmes may had endured some form of isolation/depression according to an article from HuffPost, then again, fuck you HuffPost, this nonsense is like a part in The Girl Who Played With Fire, during the plot when Dag Svensson and Mia Johansson were murdered and the magnum containing fingerprints of Salander led to the conclusion that Salander murdered them. Except, in this case, Holmes did in fact murder 12 victims and injuring 24.

Not sure what led him to commit a murder, perhaps something having to do during the last 2 years or more, but this sensational bullshit has to stop. When I watch the news, I expect to see news, not an stint of madness over a killer. He's not Adolf Hitler after all. tongue sticking out smiley

I think this guy had a psychotic break and murdered and injured these people. Right now he's doped to the gills on psychotropics and can barely keep his eyes open in court. He is kinda disturbed like that man who shot Giffords. So if he is demented, giving him the death penalty is ethically wrong. He belongs in a hospital for life. No doubt the families will be screaming for his blood.

Without military-type, semi-automatic weapons, mass killings like this wouldn't happen. Unless someone is a police officer or works the night shift at a 7-11, I don't see why anyone needs even a handgun. Rifles for hunters, fine.

As long as weapons exist in the world, people will get them one way or another. Laws don't mean shit. I wonder if we'll ever be a peaceful civilization? I doubt it.

Just take a look at the statistics. In the countries where there are control on weapon sales (especially in Canada and Europe), there are less murders. Sure, people could get the weapons another way, but it would be not so easy. But, I don't think total peace in the world is possible, no.

Yeah, I see what you mean. A change like that would not be easy in America because of the Constitution. So what's the answer? I'm moving my ass to Canada.

I don't think we need guns or anything but I really don't understand why more guns = more deaths. Why do we have to use it if it's there? Our lack of self control is depressing. I'm more bothered by the irrational fear that this whole thing will create.

This is worth a read.

And here is a link from the article that puts a good perspective on our motivation for various things.
