Only ever met a few. Met the guys in the 80s/90s rock band Tesla; they were pretty cool. They were drinking at a bar next door to the venue they were playing later that night; most of them seemed a little wound up, as they were pretty much mobbed by people who'd figured out they were there, but they chatted with everyone and signed CDs/t-shirts/whatever as they did. Jeff Keith was very friendly, but also very trashed, and only got moreso from there(he played much of the show with his eyes half open, but was on time and on key for every song).
Met Bif Naked after a show she opened for Hinder(woo-freaking-hoo); i went for Bif, and found her hanging out in the merch/bar area after her set. Again, plenty of people were hanging around her, but she was cool to all of them, signing whatever, taking pictures, and so on. Got to chat with her for a minute or so, and later on, when i went back to ask for a picture, she remembered my name. Sounds silly, as it was just like twenty minutes later, but it was pretty cool to walk up to Bif Naked and hear her address me by name and say, "What's up, man?"
Met and got to hang out with an awesome rock act that just didn't quite break into the mainstream, a band called Silvertide. They were really cool, and (naturally) excited that people around here knew who they were(they're from Philly). They were opening for Alter Bridge(again, woo-freaking-hoo), and i showed my support for Silvertide not by wearing my Silvertide t-shirt, but by wearing my "Creed sucks" tee. Mark, their rhythm guitarist, read my shirt, laughed and said, "Dude... that's harsh." Then laughed some more. They all hung out and chatted with the few people that knew them in the back of the club, with the exception of Nick, their lead guitarist, who signed CDs, thanked us all for coming, then went about putting the moves on the ladies(it seemed he was pretty well received, at that).
Lastly (but definitely not least), i was in NYC this past September to see a Soulsavers show, and got to meet Mark Lanegan. I was the only one hanging out in front of the club(Bowery) as he came out of his bus to go in and do soundcheck; i called him name, he came over, and we chatted for a minute or two before he went in. He was incredibly chill and very soft spoken, with the most gentle handshake imaginable. He shook my hand(he extended his), asked my name, thanked me several times for making the trek to see him, said he hoped he put on a good show, then told me he had to go get to work and shook my hand again. I told him i was a longtime fan, had never had the chance to see him live for any of his projects, and got to tell him how much i've enjoyed all the stuff he's done in recent years(in addition to Soulsavers, he's collaborated with Isobel Campbell from Belle and Sebastian, Greg Dulli of Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers, been a part time singer for Queens of the Stone Age, and made tons of guest appearances on other albums). As he was leaving, i told him he was one of my musical heroes, and he gave me a look like i was either crazy or speaking gibberish; i guess he's not used to gushing fans. Anyway, he's just about my favorite musician ever, and the brief encounter was as awesome as it was surreal.
