I already had the flag part of this tattoo, the writing was added on Monday 9th May, 2011, exactly one year after the flag part of the tattoo. (I got that part of it on Mother's Day last year, it was my 9th tattoo done on 9th May 2010.) The flag is the Eureka Flag, as used in the Eureka Stockade in the mid 1800s. It's a very important part of Australian history, about a corrupt government and how the common people stood up for themselves and won. I'm very proud of this tattoo.
This is the second tattoo I had done last Monday. "The Crow" is one of my all-time favourite movies. One Sunday morning a few months ago I had a dream that I had a crow tattoo. OK, I thought, I guess I have to have that done. So I thought about the design and this is the result. The writing is from the cover of the soundtrack cd, and the bird is a photo of a crow that my daughter took a few years ago. I simply manipulated it a little bit and this is the result. BTW, the tattoo immediately above it is my NIN tattoo, taken from the cover of Pretty Hate Machine. The tattoo artist touched it up a bit for me. For some reason it had faded quite a bit, even though it's less than 2 years old.
As you can see, there was quite a bit of bruising when both tattoos were done. Maybe I've got flabby arms lol ("Eureka" is on my right bicep and "Crow" is on my left bicep). The tattoo artist didn't grip my arms particularly tightly, maybe I just bruise easily? I don't know...
