the username "Lighthand" was my interpretation of the Year Zero cover art. Because it looked like a giant transparent hand of light.

My username is a repurposed older forum name that has become somewhat of my internet alter ego.
Years ago, when I played Airsoft (a game like paintball but with more emphasis on military simulation/ reenactment) religously, I used one of the rarest guns in the country. Only a few hundred were sold in the U.S.. It's a replica of the Japanese Ground Self Defence Force's standard rifle.. Called the TYPE89. Obviously proud of my rare item, I was looking for an airsoft forum name that conveyed a military theme and showcased my rare rifle, hence..
the Type89 rifle.. Blood Type (for a military vibe).. BloodType89 was born.
I ended up being known as Blood, BloodType, BT89, etc and no one even called me by my real name, even when we met-up to play or had team meetings.

I've used several variations of BloodTypexxxxx online since and when I signed up here, I thought, hmmm...
1989 was the first NIN album release.. Lets stick with BloodType89!

The avatar is probably the longest that I've kept one. I think it is an excellent reflection of me in many ways, as well as looking a bit like me.
I've always loved Ryu.
The karate organization that my father started 30 some years ago stems from Okinawan Shorin Ryu, what I believe that character is based off of as well.
It also symbolizes the beaten down hero that won't quit.
The blood obviously fits well with my username.
And of course, we have the "choking the chicken" motion which fits into my ridiculous personality and odd sense of humor which I refer to as randomosity.
Yup.
