Right, somehow I got caught up in this messy messy thread and after 17 full pages of garbage I've come to one conclusion. Itsjustdave is probably the only person on this site with his fucking head screwed on [and maybe a few others].

Resume squabbling.

The legendary Trent Reznor w/ the legendary KORG MS-20!!!

Yeah, didn't Leo post that? It's a moderators account that made the edit to Trent's initial posting... maybe she knows something...

Granted, and this could be the case with Numan for example. However, two classic JA tracks released plus a tour with Jane's addiction is pretty legendary in my opinion!

And as I said in my post, I'm in complete agreement, but one must admit that the fan response to Jane's being on the tour was quite polarized. There were a fair number of people livid about it. Perhaps it was just a vocal minority, but it often seemed otherwise.
Wasn't it the same case when NIN toured with Bowie? Some liked it, some didn't. However, in retrospect, most can agree that it was godly.

At the time of the Outside tour, the online community congregated on usenet at alt.music.nin. I can't say I can recall anyone complaining about the pairing there. This was 1995, mind you, well before the internet was overrun by fucking idiots devoid of taste.

I'm calling it now. If this project isn't NIN-related, I can guarantee there will be a parade of fucking morons bitching about how much it sucks and how Trent has forever lost them as a fan. With any luck, this will happen before the release of the Ultra-Limited Deluxe Edition release of The Fragile, freeing up a few more copies for deserving fans.

Yeah, if it's not NIN related a lot of people will lose interest immediately and probably barely give it a chance, in the same way a lot of people I know didn't even bother with Ghosts because it was instrumental! Crazy really.

NIN has always been a one man army to me. Trent is the wizard behind the green curtain. I still listen to Ghosts today. I am sure the true fans will invest in whatever project he is messing with. I am so maticulous about his work and previous NIN band members work I invest in their music too. I can't wait for a deluxe Fragile collection. The TDS was awesome.

I agree with what several have had to say with regards to this upcoming project. In a weird sort of way, I hope it's something unexpected and challenging and not an initial easy listen.

That way, people that jumped on the bandwagon simply because NIN has some funky beats will be disappointed, thus allowing everyone else to enjoy the fuck out of whatever comes our way without having to put up with the whining, the bitching, and the complaining.

When the ninforum bot posts news stories, it doesn't include photos, links, text formatting, etc. A mod has to edit those in manually.

This is Ground Control to Major Trent ...

Second day without comm-link activity, concern growing here ...

Urgently awaiting your next transmission ...

And may God's love be with you.

You all take "fanboy/girl" to a whole new level. Don't quit your day jobs.

It's funny how user-friendly NIN has become.

Hell yeah we do. Hell, I spent over $400 on my NIN collection. Unfortunately, due to a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE incident, most of the CD cases have visible water flaws. sad smiley sad smiley sad smiley However, the more expensive/important ones were saved.
Ghosts I-IV Deluxe Set
The Downward Spiral Deluxe Edition
Year Zero vinyl
Broken vinyl
Down In It vinyl
And All That Could Have Been DVD

So now I have a more secure area for my non-ruined NIN stuff.

All the people expecting w.e it is that Trent is working on to drop tomorrow, I think you're going to be disappointed. I don't think a commercial holiday holds that much significance as you think (unless of course it's some part of YZ that we don't know yet). He'll drop it when whatever it is is ready. Until then, all we can do is wait and speculate.

For all we know, Trent could have started all this as a precursor to an Easter release date. Considering that date is recognized for the resurrection, it could make sense since YZ appeared to end with the end of the world. (For the record, I don't believe this, I just threw it out there as a random idea).

Ghosts Madrid Bubu (demo)remix, remix?

I hope it's something completely different from everything else TR has done. So basically just another album.

I don't think it will be Ghosts. Honestly in my own personal opinion I don't think I am nor a lot of people are ready for another ghosts album. I think he needs to put his voice back on records... The instrumental stuff is great, but we have plenty to listen too, and honestly I have not even even heard Ghosts enough to be excited for another release. It is still fairly new. So I think a Studio Album is much more approachable. Trent babes... your not getting any younger so use that amazing voice while you still own it.

NIN 4 EVER!

I listen to Ghosts all the time and I freakin' love it! Perhaps if you listened to it more often, you'd appreciate its beauty too. Lots of us love Ghosts-for some it's even their favorite NIN work-so speak for yourself when you say we're not ready for another Ghosts album.

I have a strong feeling that Trent doesn't care what you're "ready for." He shouldn't care what any of us want.

You have said the same goddamn thing several times now. It's almost like a kid at the supermarket with his mom "can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy... can I have a candy..." Finally, the poor mom caves in and buys the fucking kid his fucking candy.

Yeah, I don't think this will work with Trent. "Ooohh, so you don't want another Ghosts? Well, I was recording just that, but since you've asked me a million times, I will kindly oblige and write TDS 2! Just for you!"

With just a small handful of good posts, I think this thread needs stitching up.

02/13/10 4:13 PM

Two days now... sigh...

02/13/10 4:35 PM

I hope we don't get a picture tomorrow, I hope Trent takes a break from what ever he's up to and spends the day to himself with his new found love. He deserves it.

My vote is on The Fragile deluxe re-release...

02/13/10 5:12 PM

ATTICUS!
ATTICUS!!
ATTICUS!!!

ghosts series 2?
year zero 2?
remixes for the fragile?

either way im excited

02/13/10 5:17 PM

My vote is for YZ2... I think it would be amazing!

02/13/10 5:36 PM

So many possibilities:
Year Zero 2
Ghosts V-VIII
maybe a callabo with Gary Numan
or The Fragile deluxe release
all are good things and I look forward to see from any one of them to all of them.

02/13/10 5:53 PM

Trent whatever it may be,good things come to those who wait, however it will be fucking awesome we know,so take your sweet time and we'll just keep holding on.

02/13/10 6:21 PM

Since it's mysterious pictures of music gear, I'm going to make a guess and rule out The Fragile re-release.

Anything new is awesome, Ghosts, a new album, and I admit, a sequel to Year Zero would absolutely cause me to shit myself in glee. Whatever it is, I'll be waiting.

Trent shouldn't wait for what we are ready, it makes it better if he comes with something random thats what makes him the greatest
