La Mer speech
I re-visited this speech because of this post. I started thinking of the significance of Trent’s words and his various states of mind over the years in our lives as NIN fans. I don’t believe in God, but I thank whatever it was that convinced Trent to stay. If he had died beside the ocean during those dark days, this thread would not be here, these pictures wouldn’t be, the excitement, anticipation, anxiety, (add your misc. feeling), would not be lurking within each one of us, haunting us every day, as we wait for something new.
Whatever comes our way in the near, or not-so-near future, I will be thankful for it. Since the Pretty Hate Machine days, Trent has continually added to the sound track that completes my life, while sharing parts of his own – and I will be eternally grateful.
