He uses ProTools during the whole process of laying down each song or it's the last step once everything has been recorded before he finalizes a song?

It has each of the instruments recorded and the vocal track and all that together like in Garage band only it's for professionals right??

Anyone?

The screenshot doesn't look like this song is anywhere near being finished. The garageband files TR released were simply stems of tracks which probably consisted of layers and layers of stuff. For example there's never just ONE drum track. It's usually divided into separate tracks like KICK, SNARE, OH L, OH R, TOM1, TOM2, FL TOM, HIHAT, ROOM MIC 1, etc etc.

Trent uses a variety of stuff for composing in the studio like Live and Logic Pro. I'm assuming it's mostly for VST/AU synth stuff. He'd probably record a real synth straight into Pro Tools.

Are you talking about the Garageband files released for all the previous tracks? Or was this something I missed very recently?

Just went through 3 hours of useless math homework, which i finished to late and got a zero on. Then I got a phone call from the girl I care for crying her eyes out, which made me more upset. Then I checked my rss reader.. and I smiled.. smiling smiley
Thanx Trent :-D

Just found out that the guy in the picture is actually Chris Martin.

Apparently Numan got cold feet, so Trent got Coldplay.

The head is not of Robin, Trent, Atticus, or any other NIN affiliated person.

There's absolutely no doubt, it's this guy:

he does wear expensive hair pieces.

white t-shirt. also, the pic was posted in the morning, so maybe trent just got up and was picking up where he left off yesterday or something...

it'd be cool to hear something with the abstractness, anger, experimentality and noisiness of previous albums all mixed into one, and maybe some influence from some obscure urban legends, perhaps, and incorporating some horror-ambient elements...

i've been listening to this all day...

The Fragile's re-release should include a darker, bleaker sequel with it, or something like that should be released alongside it. that could be cool...

I could not AGREE with you more... You took the words right out of my mouth. Something dark is something I am severely craving from Trent Reznor, and Nine Inch Nails. It is completely relevant...

I googled yellow shirt, so it must be this guy: http://www.poster.net/bloom-orlando/bloom-orlando-yellow-shirt-9959339.jpghttp://www.poster.net/bloom-orlando/bloom-orlando-yellow-shirt-9959339.jpg

I want everything above Echoplex, i really like NIN but with teeth was the last great album. After that, just songs floating apart.

Don't let me down, Trent.

I agree Slip was a bit rushed but that was the whole point of it I guess. Year Zero was amazing though, I felt that was very well thought out and put together

Year Zero is a good album, it's true, but too much pop for me.
I need another kind of power.

Too much pop is correct. Im looking past that... If we want pop we can turn on the radio... Im loving the idea everyones in a dark mood...

Everyone is not in a dark mood. Some people are, including yourself which I'm pretty sure everyone is aware of thanks to your constant posts to that effect. I hope Trent releases a triple cd of fucking nursery rhymes just to piss you off!!!

And just for that, Trent's gonna write songs for and produce Britney Spears' next album!

@DaveG I think he was talking about in the past-that's the impression I got anyway

I would love to see TR work with some female singers. PJ Harvey, Bjork, Karen from The Knife and Fever Ray , Beth Gibbons from Portishead. Or do a Massive Attack like album and have guest singers, and sing a couple of your own.

THIS for Beth Gibbons. I might be fucked in the head but I think her voice would fit perfectly with Trent's musical sensibilities.

Yeah, isn't Trent hangin' out in Honeymoonville at the moment....he's probably not in the darkest of moods!

The Slip wasn't dark at all, and it worked great! As long as he is honest about what he writes, then it will be good.

Ok, I know that I'm getting a bit greedy here....however, I can't stop thinking about how perfect it would be to have a small (just a few seconds....) sound clip to go with these pictures....

02/24/10 11:47 PM

I would love to see a very danceable, electronic album with killer beats. I would also love to see an avant garde album as well, or a great mixture of the two.

02/24/10 11:56 PM

Ok... here are 2 pictures I took during the wave goodbye tour.
TR has a thick neck. I dont think the person in that pic is TR.

[quote sutchy]I'm not saying I wouldn't be happy if it was, but if it turns out to be The Fragile re-issue, I hope Trent has a panic room, because all of this built up hope and speculation will just implode, and at least half of the people obsessing over these pictures will go crazy and charge his house.

Yes! I wanna see what it says at the top there...I'm liking this.

I don't know if you guys remember this, but towards the end of the AVOTT the gift (I'm not sure which show he said it in), Trent joked around about the "big fucking titties" after the bra was thrown on stage, and then said "and now some more depressing music". The fact that he said it in an almost joking manner shows that Trent, even musically, is not at the same place at all (as if we need more proof than the interviews and happiness he found in marriage) he was in around the time of The Fragile.

If people don't see the underlying themes of self-discovery and personal redemption from a destructive pattern in The Slip, then I think we've missed out on one of the most important turns-for-the-better in music themes.

I don't think Trent will ever trade dissonance, noise, and electronic subtones for pop grooves and bubblegum beats cough-Cornell-cough, but I don't think he's going to retrograde to the underlying dark motiphs of 90's era albums.

And I'm thankful for that.
