FIRST POINT: Touring. Is. Off. Indefinitely. (at least as Nine Inch Nails, and likely as any other entity as well) This has been stated numerous times.
Indefinitely doesn't mean forever but DO treat it like it does, and save yourself the heartache. I got burned by never being able to make it to a live NIN show and now I never will, but hoping against hope won't make it come true if it's not in Trent's priorities to continue touring. Given the problems he's had with equipment, venues, management bullshit and rowdy pissant "fans" throwing LIGHTERS at him, I'm genuinely surprised he kept going as long as he did. It's evident that that's just how much he loves his work (and his fans) - despite all the shit.
SECOND POINT: Patience. It's often been labeled as a virtue, though I'd liken it more to good manners. If you act impatient, many of your peers (and quite possibly Trent and his accomplices) are likely to see you as a - pardon the colloquialism - total fucking douche.
I understand excitement over new stuff from Trent - I get the same way; but for fuck's sake, "I WANT IT NOW!!!! GIMMEGIMMEGIMME" makes you look like a three-year-old rolling around on the grocery store floor begging your mommy for some goddamn candy. We're ALL excited but keep it in your pants. : )
I'll likely be chastised for making these points (especially the second one) but damn it, it's been bugging me. I'm sure it's been bugging at least a few other people, but far be it from me to speak for other people.
Also, sorry for rambling. I do that a lot.
Right on man, glad you didn’t sugar coat your points and I agree with you especially the second point about how some people want (not a need) instant gratification. People who want (not a need) instant gratification suffer from poor impulse control, a low self-esteem, and weak ego boundaries. Patience is no longer a virtue in our society, but rather a waste of time which is sad because I believe many times patience can lead to happiness, and we are losing that happiness. People want material objects, relationships, or even success as soon as possible and because they aren’t patient enough to wait for their desires, they lose their own happiness in the process. Our ultimate goal—or at least mine—in life is to be happy. To have healthy relationships, to be passionate and to ultimately appreciate simply being alive. These desires take patience and work to get, and although the waiting may not be perfect, the result will be. So all I can say is be patient, because in the end, you will be happy.
