Hi! How Great it would be for Nine Inch Nails to cover "It's Been A While" by Staind! I think it is a Gorgeous Song, and the lyrics always remind me of something I think Trent could have come up with:

"It's been a while
Since I could hold my head up high
and it's been a while
Since I first saw you
It's been a while
since i could stand on my own two feet again
and it's been a while
since i could call you
But everything I can't remember as fucked up as it may seem
the consequences that I've rendered
I've stretched myself beyond my means

It's been a while
since i could say that i wasn't addicted and
It's been a while
Since I could say I love myself as well and
It's been a while
Since I've gone and fucked things up just like i always do
It's been a while
But all that shit seems to disappear when i'm with you
But everything I can't remember as fucked up as it may seem
the consequences that I've rendered
I've gone and fucked things up again

Why must i feel this way?
just make this go away
just one more peaceful day

Its been awhile
Since I could lok at myself straight
and it's been awhile
since i said i'm sorry
It's been awhile
Since I've seen the way the candles light your face
It's been awhile
But I can still remember just the way you taste
But everything I can't remember as fucked up as it may seem
I know it's me i cannot blame this on my father
he did the best he could for me

It's been a while
Since I could hold my head up high
and it's been a while since i said i'm sorry"

Any Gorgeous songs YOU wish NIN would cover?
(Thanks for the inspiration, ElninaR!)

Leonard Cohens - Hallelujah, It's been recorded in many different genres from the Jeff Buckley version: [www.youtube.com]

to the John Cale [www.youtube.com]

and Bono [www.youtube.com]

I just think NIN could do a really dark version of this.

We'll not mention the Bon Jovi version [www.youtube.com]

ah shit!!!

I just did!eye popping smiley

I'd love it if they covered "Alone I break" by KoRn. It's always been one of my favorite songs by them. And if NIN did cover it... damn... that'd be sweet, I almost can't even describe how cool that would sound.

"To me it just doesn't get any better than when he sings 'When a Man Loves a Woman'."

Metallica did this, why not NIN? -- "The Wait" by Killing Joke.
And the thought of "Wardance" by NIN makes me cry.

Although this would probably never happen, I'd love to hear Trent sing some of Tori Amos' work. Their voices are like a yin and yang--both with the ability to be so soft and yet so angry at the same time, so full of emotion. "Crucify" would probably be at the top of my wish list...

Raspberry Swirl. Bwhaha. Ha.

"Bother" by Stone Sour-I think Trent would sound AMAZING covering this song, and the lyrics are Deep!

"Wish I was too dead to cry
My self-affliction fades
Stones to throw at my creator
Masochists to which I cater
You don't need to bother;
I don't need to be
I'll keep slipping farther
But once I hold on,
I won't let go 'til it bleeds

Wish I was too dead to care
If indeed I cared at all
Never had a voice to protest
So you fed me shit to digest
I wish I had a reason;
my flaws are open season
For this, I gave up trying
One good turn deserves my dying

You don't need to bother;
I don't need to be
I'll keep slipping farther
But once I hold on,
I won't let go 'til it bleeds

Wish I'd died instead of lived
A zombie hides my face
Shell forgotten
with its memories
Diaries left
with cryptic entries

And you don't need to bother;
I don't need to be
I'll keep slipping farther
But once I hold on,
I won't let go 'til it bleeds

You don't need to bother;
I don't need to be
I'll keep slipping farther
But once I hold on:
I'll never live down my deceit"

I second that.

Code Red would be interesting and so would Lust (????).

And I'd LOVE for Trent to sing "Regret" by New Order-A Beautiful Song with Nice lyrics, and Live, Trent could play it 'cause it's a Tamborine players paradise!!!grinning smiley

"Maybe I've forgotten the name and the address,
Of every one I've ever known.
It's nothing I regret.
Save it for another day,
It's the school exam and the kids have run away.
I would like a place I could call my own.
Have a conversation on the telephone.
Wake up every day that would be a start.
I would not complain about my wounded heart.
I was upset you see,
almost all the time.
You used to be a stranger.
Now you are mine.
I wouldn't even trust you,
I've not got much to give.
We're dealing in the limits,
and we don't know who with.
You may think that I'm out of hand,
that I'm naive, I'll understand.
On this occasion, it's not true.
Look at me, I'm not you.
I would like a place I could call my own,
have a conversation on the telephone.
Wake up every day that would be a start.
I would not complain about my wounded heart.
I was a short fuse,
burning all the time.
You were a complete stranger.
Now you are mine.
I would like a place I could call my own,
have a conversation on the telephone.
Wake up every day that would be a start.
I would not complain about my wounded heart.
Just wait till tomorrow.
I guess that's what they all say,
just before they fall apart.

I think most of the songs that are listed above me = fail.
the day trent covers staind and stone sour is the day i die.
fuck it he might as well cover slipknot (i know how trent loves those screaming solos, double pedal breakdowns, and screaming pointless shit)

....not.

I say, Burn - The Cure
(yeah, i know another song named burn right?)

I think "Float" by Flogging Molly would be a wonderful song for Trent to do acoustic. It almost sounds like something he would write (not to imply that he's old or anything smiling smiley

Drink away the rest of the day,
Wonder what my liver would say,
Drink, It's All you can.

Blackened days With their bigger gales,
Blow in your parlor to discuss the day,
Listen that's all you can.

Ah but don't,no don't sink the boat,
That you built, you built to keep afloat,
Ah no don't, no don't sink the boat,
That you built...

Sick and tired of what to say,
No one listens anyway
Sing... that's all you can.

Rambling years of lousy luck,
Ya miss the smell of burning turf,
Dream that's all you can.

Ah but don't,no don't sink the boat,
That you Built, you built to keep afloat,
Ah no don't, no don't sink the boat,
That you built...that you built to keep afloat.

Singled out for who you are,
Takes all types to judge a man,
Feel that's all you can.

Filthy suits with bigot ears,
Hide behind their own worst fears,
Live that's all you can.

It's all you can
It's all you can... do.

No matter where i put my head,
I wake up feeling sound again,
Breathe...it's all you can.

Tomorrow smells of a lester cade,
Reach the bowels but glooming frame,
Be thankful that's all we can.

Ah but don't, don't sink the boat,
That you Built, you built to keep afloat,
Ah no don't,no don't sink the boat,
That you built...you built to keep afloat.

Ah but don't, no don't sink the boat,
That you Built, that you built to keep afloat

A ripe old age,
A ripe old age,
I'm a ripe old age,
Thats what I am.

I'm a ripe old age,
A ripe old age,
A ripe old age,
Just doing the best I can
Hey

A ripe old age,
A ripe old age,
A ripe old age,
That's what I am.

A ripe old age,
A ripe old age,
A ripe old age,
Just doing the best I can

The best I can.
