question 2
how has married life changed you?

question 3
with the lil one on the way, how have you prepared for this wonderful new journey in your life??

i LOVED the way you (everyone involved) approached the video concept of SPACES IN BETWEEN...some may not know what it was trying to say...care to enlighten those who did not know how to read between the lines...

question 4
i know you prefer to be a more private person, how do you deal with the ups and downs of being in the public eye?

It's officially been a year since it's suspension, what is the current status of Nine Inch Nails?

09/22/10 8:47 PM

Are there songs out there in Nine Inch Nails land from previous releases that we have still yet to hear?

Question 1:
With the release of "The Social Network" OST soundtrack, will there be more solo or duo composing of music with Atticus Ross and/or How To Destroy Angels?

Question 2:
Is there a possibility of The Null Corporation becoming a open label for future artists who would like to follow along by influence? Either somewhat similar to Nothing records in your early years or totally different or not at all?

Question 3:
With regards to Pretty Hate Machine being re-released by the Bicycle Company, is there any possible prediction of when exactly would a re-release find it's way into daylight?

[To reviewer: You can choose whichever of the three, they're alternatives in case anything goes on bloated..]

By the way, congratulations on a successful release of "The Social Network" movie direction and the OST! Never seem to depress Trent!

When composing the tracks for "The Social Network" with Atticus, what were some of the main differences from making Ghosts?

Did you find it a bit more difficult to capture certain emotions or moods in any given part of the movie?

and

Has the scoring experience inspired any new ideas such as new Ghosts or instrumental HTDA tracks?

What ever did happen to that With Teeth essay you said that you were going to include? What was it on? Why didn't it get included?

You stole my question. With the (someday) impending TF deluxe edition in my mind, I thought back to things that never really came to fruition.

I do have a few questions other than that.

Do you ever see yourself working with any former NIN bandmembers on anything, ever, either album or tour-wise?

Will you continue the open camera policy if/when HTDA tours? You seemed very pleased with the projects that fans put together from footage we shot.

Any chance that we will get any raw footage from the Wave Goodbye shows like we did from the Lights In The Sky tour? I know a dvd of sorts is in the works (which makes me think that would be a no), but there would be no better souvenir than raw footage from the last show I ever went to, with shots of me in it (camera man panned to me on the rail a bunch of times).

On that line of thought, if he can say anything about it yet, regarding the Wave Goodbye dvd/footage release:
is the plan to have it all compiled from each show into one long set, chapters for individual cities (or nights, holy shit), individual DVDs for cities/nights (order the Chicago night 1&2 double DVD box set, etc)?

Obviously re-word better, I suck with words, but these are really the only things I've been wondering about lately. And shit we shouldn't bother asking like "when is YZ2 coming out and when are you going to tour as NIN again and i want to be Rob's assistant" blah blah.

Did working with Fincher on the video for "Only" influence your decision to work with him on The Social Network?

Also, how would you compare your experience with scoring The Social Network to your other contributions to film soundtracks (Natural Born Killers, Lost Highway, and your attempt at doing the score for One Hour Photo)?

09/22/10 10:30 PM

Justin Bieber: What The Fuck?

yes that's a question.

09/22/10 10:44 PM

What are your thoughts on the "Loudness War"?

09/22/10 10:44 PM

Eminem's new album "Recovery" reminds me of "With_Teeth" in that it's an honest look at his addiction and new sober life. Would you ever consider producing an album by Eminem or working with him in any other capacity?

09/23/10 1:03 AM

Absolutely retarded and irrelevant question but since I gotta ask every fan I know: What did you think of the Lost finale?

Congrats on all your recent kick-ass work and your impending fatherhood!

What movies/tv shows are you a fan of these days?

And the ever present question: will you ever do another tour as nin again?

Thanks!

09/23/10 1:10 AM

So, how about that Marilyn Manson guy.

No but seriously, non trolling questions:

"Do you see yourself doing more score work in the near future and are there any film directors that you would really like to work with?"

"Would you release music for other artists under Null Corporation or is it strictly for your own work?"

Over your career, you've been more than diverse in your musical arsenal, but Im sure some instruments or technology have slipped your grasp for whatever reason. Are their any specific ones you have wanted to work with but never got the chance? Additionally, any new equipment featured in The Social Network soundtrack?

How comes that eloquence? Do you miss us? Is there a dream about a Nine Inch Nails comeback? How are things going?

;-) just kidding! No questions left here. TR's music tells the fucking lot these days...

09/23/10 1:31 AM

I remember watching an interview or reading one where you said you wouldn't be putting any more of your music into a music game since Rock Band had the two NIN track packs. How were you persuaded to put Wish into the new Guitar Hero game? Also, would you please put more NIN in Rock Band? You have no clue how much most people want to play your songs in the games.

09/23/10 4:32 AM

Question 1: How long might it take before you get tired of a certain process during the creation of your music till you feel like pursuing something completely alien to what you already know i.e software, hardware, order of operations or do you just try to stay within familiar grounds for trusted results?

Question 2: What do you imagine your creative potential as an artist to be like in say 5 years time and what accomplishments might you have made?

Could you tell us the real titles of your 10 Quake "music" tracks, please? Did you ever give them names?

09/23/10 5:53 AM

Last year, you announced via Twitter that you were working on the "ultimate reissue" of the Fragile.

Questions:

1-Rob has mentioned on Twitter that the project was kind of on hold for some reason(s). Why was it postponed? Is it linked to legal issues with Interscope?

2-What will be included? Is there any chance to hear the mysterious Fragile Lost Tracks and the 12 unreleased tracks recorded with Mike Garson?

3-We know that Rob Sheridan and people from Artists in Residence are working on the reissue but could you tell us if there are other people involved in the project (David Carson, Danny Lohner?)?

4-The last but not the least: could we still expect it to be released at the end of this year or in 2011?

Thanks!

Will there be anything like NIN (with your vocals) in the next months?
Don“t get me wrong, I like Mariqueens voice, but yours is familiar to me...I like it!

09/23/10 6:26 AM

What did you learn and experience from scoring "The Social Network", and could we see more scores in the future perhaps?

If someone told you 4 years ago you would score "The Facebook Movie" staring Justin Timberlake what would you have said?

Not really a question but you should release "Tapeworm" digitally. However, just make the whole thing a looping sound of someone farting into a mic for 45 minutes so people would shut the fuck up about it. At the end, you and Maynard can scream for 2 minutes. /The end.

Trent,

Will you ever regain the rights to your early catalog (PHM, TDS, etc)? And if you do, would you consider releasing special editions of those early works?

Guys, we are going to be sorting through the questions over the next few days. To help us out we would really appreciate it if you would follow a 'template' above for example, lets say. Clearly number your question(s) and save other comments for elsewhere, or just post once per your question. It will make things easier for us to compile the list.

Many thanks.

The bicycle music company recently acquired the rights to the masters of many albums released by TVT. Have they contacted you about releasing a deluxe edition or re-release of either Pretty Hate Machine or Broken?

09/23/10 9:49 AM

Question #1:
Whether or not you decide to call yourself Nine Inch Nails again, I can't image that you would not feel drawn to center stage. I understand that long tours are taxing, but the Trent Reznor I saw on stage last year was far from irrelevant or over-the-hill. Your studio work is only part of your gift as an artist. Can we look forward to seeing the full expression of Trent Reznor the performer again in the future?

Question #2:
I am very curious about how your new life might be expressed in music. Have you been writing any songs with lyrics?

I miss your concerts. This summer, I substituted amusement parks, but it's just not the same.

09/23/10 9:03 AM

Earlier today, news was released that Mark Zuckerberg is donating $100 million dollars to the Newark education system in NJ. Do you think this is to cover up the negative vibe coming from the movie?

09/23/10 9:15 AM

Too add to my previous question on page 1, I might as well add a couple more since I see people posting more than one.

Question #1:
You mentioned a long time ago that you had an idea as to how Year Zero will end, and even brought up plans for a sequel album. Do you still plan on making a Year Zero followup?

Question #2:
I see that you've been cooperating creatively with Atticus a lot lately. (Ghosts I-IV, HTDA, TSN score) What brought on this creative partnership? Can we expect to see it continue?

09/23/10 9:17 AM

A ) Why not using more string instruments (violin, cello etc.) on The SN soundtrack?

B ) Favourite cartoon from the '90s? hot smiley

C ) If you could direct a book adaptation, which novel would it be?

09/23/10 11:20 AM

Will you coach your childs little league team?
