It won't get a Halo because it's not by NIN

single ninnies, put a halo on it.
That was terrible sir.

WOW I was only trying to say a really like the soundtrack. By saying "halo" I only wanted to say its amazing like all trents/nin work. I will think before i type next time.

Thanks to trent i am not just a Metal head

Not sure where to put this, but I'll start here and look around for more suitable threads. (edit: ninspotting, where else?)

This was (one of?) Trent's Boston interviews. A lot of the non-specific to soundtrack questions will sound familiar, but there's at least one where he defends re-using Ghosts so flagrantly in the soundtrack. (There's also samples not in the free sampler.)

I sat next to the interviewer at an IFF sneak preview of Let Me In last night, and he overheard me noting that Trent's been suddenly chatty again to promote the film. (I'm waiting until The Social Network moves to the Somerville's Big Screen, next week. The Town is still selling too well, and to folks who didn't know how awesome the theater is again, so TSN's opening weekend is on a small screen.)

although the score does not entertain me by itself, it seems safe to assume that it is a successful score - by virtue of all these extremely positive reviews. if the score did not go well with the film, or provide it some added momentum, then it would have been noted. like, "great film, directing, writing, acting, photography - but what's up with that music?"

it's crazy that the first movie trent scores is doing extremely well, critically. but it still looks boring to me. hah!

Finally saw the movie so I let myself listen to the score after wards. Amazing stuff. I can't imagine certain scenes working as well as they did had I listened beforehand. For me anyways.

10/01/10 11:24 PM

Saw the film today, by myself in a dark theatre at 4pm. Needless to say, I wish there had been more people there, but it was nice to have the place to myself. Trent and Atticus's score kicks in right after the first scene. Seeing Trent and Atticus's names up there was so cool to see, and hearing their work in the film was incredible. Throughout the film, the score worked beautifully. The movie needed to have a score like this. It's truly an incredible fit. The scene in which they use "In The Hall of the Mountain King" was truly awesome because you paid attention to the scene in a way a normal score wouldn't. The score, the direction, the acting... The Social Network is one of the best films of the year. Without a doubt this will get a few Oscar nods. Imagine it... Trent and Atticus up for best Original Musical Score. I think it deserves it because of how unique of a score it is.

Just got around to listening to the whole thing (as I've been mega busy) - the film doesn't come out here in the UK for a couple of weeks and I'm excited as hell!

The score. Just got to say I love it so far. I often listen to soundtracks to various media anyway. But yeah the score is awesome and it's great to listen to as a piece of work on it's own. I can imagine the types of things where it'll fit into the film!

Well done Atticus and Trent. You guys rule!

10/02/10 7:46 AM

Just saw the film last night and it was fucking amazing!! Thank you Trent and Atticus for adding such mood and emotion throughout the film. And also for putting 2 of my favorite Ghosts to unforgettable scenes in the movie. Keep up the good work brother.

Intriguing Possibilities is absolutely amazing.

First time posting something on this site, but I had to mention how much I enjoyed reading Trent's interview on Mashable [url=http://mashable.com/2010/09/27/trent-reznor-interview/]
The interview is interesting in that he talks about how he wonders about the future generation of social networking participants and what their approach to human relationships will be like. Very thought provoking, big kudos to Trent. I'm a parent of two (21 & 16 yr olds) young men and I have thought the same thing when I watch the conundrum of social ineptness and/or poor boundaries that exhibit. They're users of various social network outlets. I dunno. Maybe I'm thinking too much, but wanted to mention that interview here. Good one, Trent!

Some songs give me goose bumps.

Some songs make want to dance.

Some songs make me want to fuck.

Some songs make me want to cry.

And it is all seamlessly put together...one song after another...up and down like a roller coaster.

I love roller coasters...and this soundtrack.

That is all.

10/02/10 7:44 PM

I downloaded it immediately. Had a little trouble with downloading (I selected "Open" instead of "Save as" and it deleted itself before I could move it into the correct folder), but it's worth it.

I'll be seeing the film as soon as it's out in the UK, and it'll be the first film I see in London as a student. So yeah. Fincher + Reznor = an unholy bastion of pure brilliance.

10/02/10 7:52 PM

has there been any mention of multitracks for the whole album?

After watching the movie I was thinking what was right & wrong about this movie and I just could not figure it out until I was reading what others were saying about the movie, when one person was saying what a great job Trent did on this movie and that the music should be through the whole movie. Then it hit me, the music should been thorough out the whole movie not just some parts of the movie. Because when there was no music going on in the scene the movie was dry. So great scoring job you and your friend did on this movie. You two deserve an award for saving the movie. But I have to tell you the best piece music that I like was the very first song with electric guitars, I miss that type of music, I guess I grew up with it and hard to leave it. But I did buy the CD and I’m using one of songs for college class project I’m taking. But with your new band you will be getting new type of fans and that is real cool for you Trent. But I will have to wait for your old band to come back with new music. Love the music but don’t care much about some of the words but the music it goes right through your bones and when you hear it you just want to rock out and don’t care who is around. Well good luck with your new project that you will be working on and being a new dad.
Take Care

Love the score. It sounds AWESOME.And I absolutely will not look at the movie until quite a lot of time passes because I don't want to be reminded of a movie that I know isn't going to be ALL THAT good, every time I listen to the score.I want to form my own memories with the music. That's what I like to do...

10/03/10 5:39 PM

after listening to the album a 2nd time. i just want to say this kicks ghost's ass.

some of my fav music since With Teeth.

Finally got the chance to sit and listen to The TSN soundtrack as a whole last night.

Overall it's a great ambient experience. I'm a huge Fincher fan and hope I can see the film soon. Especially since much of the feel is that of Reznor and Atticus mixed with that of The Dust brothers from Fight Club. At the same time I was amazed and surprised to hear Reznor/Ross' rendition of 'The Hall of The Mountain King'.

I can only guess this is due to the cinematic direction and trademarked darkened scenes Fincher works into his films. As a team they are incredible. After 'Only' and the opening to Se7en, I've been waiting for the day the two would do an entire project that would meld into something incredible...In short I'm damn happy with it!thumbs up

(oh and that soundtrack also got me laid. Extra hidden bonus! the finger smiley)

10/03/10 9:58 PM

My wife and I saw the movie this weekend. Great movie!! We really enjoyed it we didn't think it was going to be any good. We'll buy it on DVD winking smiley and the music fit this movie perfectly. I also feel that
the score stands on it own without the movie. It's a nice calming album. Thank you Trent and Atitius winking smileyGod has really blessed you with a gift

Absolutely loved the film and the score. With respect to the Null Corp website, has anyone been able to combine shipping for TSN vinyl + the HTDA vinyl? I know we're still in the pre-order phase and that they have different release dates, but I'd rather wait and save some $.

This album was made for the fetus ..If I was in the womb I would love this ...

You can't combine orders I'm afraid. Also, HTDA vinyl isn't in the preorder phase anymore.

You smoke a lot of weed, don't you?

who knows whether the CDs will be made in countries other than USA? i know the prices of direct preorders aren't very rip-off, but it's always good to save 5 bucks

The movie was great and the score was perfect.

Anyone else get the Fight Club reference?

"Tyler_Durden" was Zuckerberg's alias on the comp.

In motion, intriguing possibilities, carbon prevails, in the hall, soft trees all stand out but the whole soundtrack flows so well. This is one I am going to be play for a while.

Just saw the movie, and it was amazing. My applause to all involved.

10/05/10 10:30 PM

Anyone get a slight 8/16 bit feel from some of the tracks? I love it. Maybe Trent & Atticus were playing some old games in between scoring sessions haha
