Intriguing Possibilities is amazing. So is the entire soundtrack, but I've been listening to this a lot since I got back home.

great record. it's definitely grown on me, though i'm not crazy about the tracks from ghosts being on there. but trent's piano skills are crazy on this one. man, it's great to be a NIN fan right now.

trent is an extrememly inspiring artist.

He's British and so we're using our better system of pluralisation: if a word or name ends in s, you simply add an apostrophe. To show possessive pluralisation, it would be Atticuses'.

I say this living as someone whose name ends in s and thus have had to learn all the stupid rules involved.

Oh, and the CD is shipping this week. As we all know how wonderful topspin are, can someone stateside post when they receive it?

10/11/10 11:02 PM

LOVES it. The movie = epic, which I knew it would be. I had a feeling TR & AR wouldn't have done the music otherwise. I cannot wait to see it again and to get my bluray copy!

10/12/10 3:14 PM

I'm not downloading this yet.

Not until I see the film.

Nice one making a film about internets. Right up my street, that one.

Looking forward to it smiling smiley

10/12/10 3:51 PM

Ok so its the 12th and the cd is meant to be shipped on the 11th? Am I meant to get another email when they are shipping it?

Hope I don’t seem weird but i cannot wait for the "real" cd to come.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Plus on the UK amazon the cds temporaily out of stock?

Could it be down to high demand?

I've been listening to this record so much. Its like Reznor and Ross take every sound and make it head trip on its own before incorporating it into the music. That hi-fi fuzz on Complication with Optimistic Outcome deserves special mention. I dont often gush about records, but this one is truly an experience. There are songs in here that would manage to be NIN "best of"s if they were made into more traditional songs. But as they stand and how they fit, they're miniature masterpieces in their own right.

I think Trent & Atticus should get an Oscar for the soundtrack! I've seen TSN 4 times now, and trying to resist going again. This is ridiculous! A friend of mine on facebook accused it of being my "Twilight". tongue sticking out smiley I've taken most of my family to see it and everyone loves the soundtrack as well as th film, from my new-ager grandparents down to friends of my teenage cousin's friends. I can't help rocking out in my seat to the soundtrack during the film. Especially "In Motion", "A Familiar Taste", "Intriguing Possibilities", "Pieces Form the Whole", "In the Hall of the Mountain King", and "Complication with Optimistic Outcome". I think seeing The Social Network in a theater is my replacement for NIN concerts at the moment. The DVD can't get here fast enough for me. smiling smiley I think I have The Social Network OCD. Thank you so much to Trent & Atticus, as usual! I'm so happy that my favorite musicians working with one of my favorite directors turned out so damn well!

I tried listening to some of the score on its own and I didn't think much of it. Although, this weekend I went to see the movie and I have to say, the score REALLY set the tone for the movie. I tried to imagine the movie without the score and it would have been much different. TR and AR did a great job... the movie's dark vibe owes everything to their soundscape.

Oh you are kidding me lol. Null, Seed, Halo and Sigil. I am going to start to lose track soon dammit Trent!

Although on the plus side, it does leave way for many more Null recordings =)

my status for cd is still listed as pending. so i jsut sent an inquiry to audiolife about the status. who else has not had their cd mailed yet?

I think it's more likely that that is for Null Corp. releases that are neither NIN nor HTDA

Yep, I still don't have it either.
Goddammit, TopSpin!

10/14/10 3:37 PM

That copy isn't mine *yet* I work at FYE, so I get to see cool things before they release!

10/14/10 10:19 PM

Trent did an interview with slashFILM you can check out. He says he's already agreed to do another score but couldn't say for what right now. The only thing that makes sense is that Fincher asked him to do his next movie which is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo which is a big deal and another high profile gig.

[bit.ly]

10/15/10 4:57 AM

I'm confused. Isn't The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo already released? Not sure which movie MaxThrax is referring to...

10/15/10 5:26 AM

it's a swedish film.
they're redoing it for american audiences.

what surprises me is that as popular as this swedish film already is in america.
and how everyone loves it regardless of subtitles..it doesn't really make sense to remake it.
i know it will reach a broader audience but it is fincher doing it and he's definitely
not going to make it more "hollywood".

hopefully he read the book and decided he can make his own spin on it.

but regardless ..this is the first remake i've ever really looked forward to.

David Fincher is re-making it in English (sadly)

I think there is a Swedish film out, but David Fincher is doing a 'US' version - should be interesting to see if he can buck the trend of US remakes sucking, if anyone can he can surely? (I was quite disappointed with the US version of The Ring)

Turns out Daniel Craig is in the lead - nice!
Daniel Craig to star in US tattoo remake

Here's the IMDB profile of the Fincher version:
[bit.ly]

Rooney Mara from TSN is going to play Lisbeth Salander. Could Fincher make this darker? In any case, I don't think Trent would have gotten and accepted another offer to score so quickly from anyone else other than Fincher. It makes total sense. Another potential Oscar nom.

I thought the same thing about the 'Let The Right One In' remake. However, Let Me In turned out to be a fantastic version of the original novel and I don't feel quality was sacrificed at all. Let The Right One In was also a swedish film, by the way.

Now in Argentina!!! The social network!!!
