AATCHB is the sister song of TGB.

Anyway UIA is awesome and I only recently realized that.

p1. AATCHB is not on the record.
p2. UIA takes the lyrical concept of TGB and expands upon it.
p3. TGB is the final song with lyrics on Left, and UIA is the final song with lyrics on Right.
c. UIA is intended to be the sister track of TGB.

not that you're stupid for suggesting otherwise: i'd much rather AATCHB have been there instead of UIA, but it isn't.

also, it only quotes TGB musically, and its lyrics have nothing to do with TGB. it's actually a lot farther of a leap to call AATCHB a truly related track beyond the musical quote; it's otherwise totally different.
Trent stated personally that AATCHB is TGB's sister song.

I just tried to find it, but I guess they took it off ninwiki. It was there at one point.

It was removed because it was unsourced.

Ah, k thanks.

The Great Below wasn't all that good on the Fragility tour. I mean, it's understandable, that's a fucking amazing vocal on the studio version. He can't be expected to throw that out there every night. But it's still not as good as the studio version.

Help Me I Am In Hell is in my favourite song on Broken.

gotta admit this is true; they apparently didn't feel like touching it up a vast amount in the studio afterward (understandably: it's not like TR's voice would be so great after singing the first half of the show anyway). however, the theremin parts in the AATCHB version are out of this world, and i wish they were included in the studio version.

I purely loved every nine inch nails songs and albums til year zero came out and they played survivalism on the radio...I hated that fucking shit. Now, I listen to the album and I like it, not all of it, but most of it. I fucking hate the remixes for the perfect drug and almost all the starfuckers remixes. No doubt the worst things to appear in nin history. I also don't listen to the slip very much. I havent listened to it all the way through since it came out. I listen to maybe half the album. Not that I don't enjoy it, it's just the least favorite album, i loveeeeeeee discipline and 1,000,000 though. But I'd say all in all 99 percent of their releases both studio albums and remix albums are fucking amazing regardless of how long it takes me to get used to the new directions some of the songs have been going. Just takes adjusting in my opinion.

i dislike how nin dropped the drumming from the intro to Only (live)

and i think Photek should have done more remixes for nin than 3 or 4 THTF versions

I agreed with Pitchfork about Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D. Could've been better.

I like the "Deep" video.

Starfuckers Inc is one of the best songs from The Fragile.
Year Zero is by far Reznor's best post-90s work.
HTDA is kinda cheesy.
Hurt sounds better with a piano than with an acoustic guitar.
The YZR version of Zero Sum is better than the album version.
The NIN live band doesn't work very well as a four-piece. The keyboardist is a very crucial position.
Ghosts III is the best volume of Ghosts.

01/12/11 1:29 AM

^ I agree with all of those actually.

01/12/11 5:43 AM

I am more excited about the upcoming score for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo than I am about a new NIN or HTDA album.

Agreed with the bolded, and the only non-bolded one I'll comment on is the one about live 2009 NIN. I agree in some areas, like in Ruiner for example. It was weird hearing the keyboard melody during the chorus being pre-recorded, I don't see why Trent didn't just play that himself. But most of the time, I thought it was great and I liked the different versions that we heard surface of certain songs. TDTWWA in particular was amazing, probably my favourite live version.

01/12/11 10:09 AM

I think Closer is one of the weakest songs Trent's written. Still better than most non-NIN stuff mind.

01/12/11 11:54 AM

I didn't enjoy the Sonisphere show much at all. As a we're-never-playing-live-again-this-is-our-last-gig-so-long-and-thanks-for-all-the-fish(nets) show, a ***BANG*** would have been better than a ...whimper...

Sorry, but I was really disappointed.

That said, the O2 show was ab-so-bloomin-lute-ly AWESOME!!!!!

Maybe Just Once is NIN's worst song, not Kinda I Want To. Is that controversial?

01/14/11 8:58 PM

1.I hate Only (live). I prefer the album version.
2.I love Kinda I Want To.(those synths are amazing)
3.I'm getting tired of We're in This Together. (NIN is amazing, but some times amazing gets boring)
4. I don't like this new live version of Closer that they've been playing since the BYIT tour, I like the TDS-era live version when Trent did that crazy synth breakdown.

I just listened to Sacrifice in full.

At least 6 songs on there sounded in one or more ways like Terrible Lie. And mentioned religion as well.

I think it came full circle, a long, long time ago Zerohero.

I like it, but don't think it's quite as good as others make it out to be. I was (unpleasantly) surprised when it was voted the best NIN song ever, beating out AATCHB, which I feel deserved to be the winner.

That opinion is pretty damn steadfast. I and probably 70% of all the people who voted in those threads shared it.

I mean man, the chorus, the lyrics, the energy, the drumbeat.....

Re: Ruiner
so true! the whole "best song" thing is so subjective (especially in our elections with an average of a dozen participants)

01/15/11 1:21 PM

Ruiner is far from the best NIN songs to me, but then again I prefer the less heavy ones: ZeroSum, AATCHB, SICNH...
