YOUR hopes for the next album.

What kind of thing would you like to see/hear?

Could be any of these plus more:

*Year Zero-esque

*Downward Spiral-esque

*Ghosts V-Whatever

*Fragile-esque

*Tapeworm/Some sort of collaboration with anyone

*Slip-esque

*With Teeth-esque

*Maybe a follow-up to PHM?

Personally I would like to hear a more Industrial sounding album, but I think more Ambient would be good as well.

12/24/10 6:09 PM

I want it to sound like none of these, and be original like all his other albums

12/24/10 6:13 PM

Ghosts V&VI / Ghosts V-VIII Featuring Brain Eno and Mike Garson

Or hopefully the next album will be the soundtrack to the secret video game Trent and Rob have been talking about for the last three years.

You're assuming that Trent needs to sound like an older album on a new one. If anything, Trent has proven to us again and again that his albums don't need to sound like one-another.

My hopes? More noise-based stuff. The Slip was good, but it seems like most of it was written from a very "band" perspective. I liked how in albums like Pretty Hate Machine, TDS and Ghosts that Trent tapped into a noisier side of music. I don't want it to sound like those albums, that's just an element I'd love to see re-explored, especially considering that he doesn't have to play any new NIN material live.

Dark, mainly aggressive, synth-heavy, industrialized drum machine beats, T-Rez back on lead vocals and working mainly by himself again. A little less The Slip and a little more TDS (though obviously by no means a copy of TDS, but kinda inspired by it), while lyrically continuing (again, not copying) from where he left off with Year Zero.

Tapeworm. Or just work with maynard under the name puscifer. I don't care, just give me more or Vacant/Potions.

And here comes Reznor and says: "i hope my next album will kick some ass"

I didn't assume at all that it was necessary.

However, I did assume that a fair amount of us here like NIN based on what's previously been released, and although I love new additions and innovation, I do like an Industrial style.

This is why I put "Your hopes."

These might be some of MY hopes. You don't have to share them, I'd like to hear your own. And, I agree. Noise music owns. One of my favorite artists behind Trent, Tobacco, is a noise musician and I love the style of it. I always thought 23 Ghosts was pretty good, too.

Thank you for contributing your thoughts, unlike Sheepdean, who continues to overlook everything I say and assert things beside the point.

Maybe like "And All That Could Have Been", released on CD and DVD? Just thinking out loud... smiling smiley

I would love to hear something more along the lines of the Tetsuo:The Bulletman theme.

facemelt? abso!

That song is so unbelievably underrated. It's among my favourite tracks of the past few years that Trent's done.

Personally, I would LOVE to see the official NIN OST for the Year Zero HBO series... for several reasons which should be obvious.

12/25/10 9:21 PM

Actually, I want a little bit of everything on the new album. Just a mix of every album he's made into one big sexy album.

12/29/10 4:31 AM

Fuck, haven't posted in a while, sup everyone?

I was just listening to "Last" and I would really like that brutality to return for this album. Not necessarily angry lyrically or full of angst, just the heavy, wall-of-noise, thick, brutal music <3

But I wouldn't mind an album done in the style of Still...

I think a full HTDA album is due this year....I know he said they were "immersed" in working on it, so we'll probably get that first.

I think it'll sound like Fur Lined...judging by the description he'd like that band to move in

I would love to hear some beautiful noise too. From HTDA it would be amazing, some great noise with Mariqueen's vocals has so much potential!

12/30/10 4:23 PM

More of that wall of noise shoegaze sound. Something to sleep too as well!

12/31/10 9:59 AM

Just for it to come out soon smiling smiley

Honestly whatever TR puts out, which most likely will be at least somewhat different from all previous albums.

I'm guessing it will be a mix of YZ or TS combined with Still.

Oh totally underrated. The epic brutality this song holds is borderline nuclear. A full album of songs like that... Fuck man hehe.

My favourite part: after the first piano section, when it gets loud and that hypnotic beat starts up to be followed by the guitar/synths. Drives my mind into "awesome" mode.

I don't care. As long as it makes me cum.

yeah thats pretty epic. my favorite part it near the end, right at the point when the song is ready to explode. The final cut, and all you can hear is the piano, then horns kick in, chills, everytime.

Bullet Man -styled nin album i won't feel guilty stealing

01/06/11 2:36 PM

I was thinking an album with all featured artists but that would probably never make it off the ground as an actual album...maybe an integration of the textural soundscapes like ghosts and the ferocity of Broken would be cool? I have no friggin clue what else he could do.

hmmmmm....

01/07/11 5:12 AM

lame wish, but i obviously want trent to write what feel's good for him in his mood, and how he is feeling musically. I'd love a combination of the downward spiral and with teeth though smiling smiley

In saying that, i love some of his more hard hitting industrial stuff like somewhat damaged, reptile, eraser, me, i'm not, the line begins to blur, etc. tongue sticking out smiley that shit really pumps me up lol

01/13/11 12:24 AM

Um...Anything Mr. Reznor decides to write will be awesome! My only hope is that it is released in 2011 grinning smiley
