The Slip music videos

i was just wondering if they were going to make a music video for one of the songs off the slip once they were done touring and whatever. this thread could also be about what song(s) you would recommend for a MV ,ideas for a MV, etc.

I'd like to see Discipline, Echoples, Head Down & Lights in the Sky.

I guess if nothing else they could use that TV show to illustrate it, kinda like The Wall. Just a thought.

I would love to see some videos for the Slip.

When was the last one, real last one...Only?

10/05/08 12:10 PM

No, it was Survivalism.

I'd love to see a vid for Discipline, but it may never happen.

Ah, you're right. Thanks.

Don't forget the Official Meathead Discipline video.

And I don't think anything can top that.

I'd like to see Head Down the most.
I already have the visuals all in my head.

And maybe Lights In The Sky. I think it would be cool if it was all abstract, maybe, or no people in the video. Kind of like the Ghosts videos that Trent asked people to submit

Head Down for sure. If not that, then 1,000,000

i hope they release another single from the slip at some point and make a video for it. i'd like to see 1,000,000 or head down released as a single (with a video)

No songs are decent enough to enable a music video.

you guys havent seen the discipline video
[www.youtube.com]
boy are you in for a treat.

Lights in the sky video. Maybe a mix in visuals between water and sky...i dunno, i think i could be done.

If I had to choose one it would be Echoplex.

Agreed, after watching some of the live perfomances of that song I think that would be the best candidate for a PV, you know, they could incorporate the whole "touch-screen" thing into it.

i think the rehearsals on the dvd are pretty satisfying and better than most music videos out there.

i would enjoy a sexy bondage type themed video for 'discipline' though.

totally have to agree with the both of you. really, i'd be happy with a video for any of the songs, but i find myself always coming back to Echoplex.

i'm sorry but i thought the "only" video was awful. well made, yes, but in terms of fitting the song, awful. i couldn't believe fincher directed that video.

it was like something a film student came up with because he had no idea what to create for the song itself. more like him testing out his new CGI program, rather than creating something to capture the feeling and atmosphere of the song itself.

maybe this is why trent has only put out performace/rehearsal vids apart from "survivalism" ever since? too much money wasted on a video that wasn't all that great.

i'd count the meathead "discipline" vid as the first music vid for THE SLIP. it was just too fucking cool. trent should make that official on the next dvd release he puts out. i'd love to see a video for "lights in the sky" [directed by romanek] & "1,000,000" [directed by chris cunningham] too...

Demon Seed would be great as a vid. I would love to see him use his voice & his fist to destroy everything

1,000,000 or Head Down

i actually think it may not happen. as he doesn't have a label pushing him to release singles to promote albums, and these days music vids are really only promotional tools to sell ringtones during the clip. maybe that's why so many suck these days. art students making their first vids with no creativity and just ripping off ideas from old videos the kids might not have seen just yet.

there's hardly an artistic video released now, the 90's had far better vids in those terms, and NIN had some of the best, along with aphex twin, bjork, beck, massive attack, tool, and many others.

NIN may just spend that money on more gear for touring or more gear towards recording new music. with his fanbase crashing nin.com and selling out all the physical copies of his albums, he doesn't really need to pay for music videos to promote his latest release. everyone already knows when it's out and where to get it.

i think there may be a new one if YZ2 comes out with a tv series, as HBO or whoever will no doubt wanna release a soundtrack album to cash-in on the show, so they'll most likely release a single from that with a video.

after seeing that "1,000,000" video you all got for the survey, i'd really just prefer a LIGHTS IN THE SKY live dvd release instead... so much more material, and a better line-up than BYIT had.
