Yep. If they're around me, they will be hearing NIN. If we don't listen to an actual NIN song, I'll play something on piano or bass. My friends are all fairly well acquainted with NIN, thanks to me.

I never force stuff I love to my friends. I've some friends who (try to) do that, but insisting that another should listen to stuff that *you* like, with you being the one who's promoting the music through and through.. that tends to create a reluctance to really try and get into the music as it is. Music taste is a very personal thing, especially in the case of profound, multi-layered, intimate music, such as that of Nine Inch Nails.
I do promote Trent's music though, in a kind of a roundabout way: putting on songs of his whenever it fits the occasion, and when the opportunity presents itself, telling them interesting stuff about him to showcase his music's innovativeness and variety. Well, if one is an obsessed NIN-fan (which is totally fine) and
idolizes the band so much by forcing another or a new friend to listen to NIN then one would think of the band as an absolute artist over everything else in this world. I used to be that way when listening to Green Day, it seemed like a brand new experience and at the time a new start to revealing an absolute like.. There's in fact more music and artists which I can truly appreciate based on specific genres. (yes i dislike certain genres, one having disliked simply for racial purposes). As long as you notice similarities between new people and/or friends (think like last.fm would detect similarities between other users), then you can share those similarities.. either by looking at their attire or by means of good communication or similar interests. I only post links to NIN videos from YouTube and share it via social networking sites to share music, all legal  and sometimes I
succeed in convincing another to appreciate it. You're free to likes and dislikes, however if there are no similarities between one another then there's a probable negative correlation | |

I don't force it on any of my friends, although I wish more of them were into it (currently it's at...1. loose fan
 ). I get excited when they ask questions about The Trent's work...but as far as I know I don't come off as some obsessed fan. | |
