I don't view it as being rude tho Ben, that is where the disconnect is. Most of these songs qualify for a parental advisory sticker. This isn't people cussing each other out and flaming about stuff, it's more like Bono accepting an award and saying it was "fucking brilliant". Granted I did say F that to your earlier post, but that was just me being a smart ass and it's how I am
We've never had any rules about content other than asking people to remain civil to each other in the threads and this has worked for well over a year. Considering this is the last election I'm planning currently, I don't think we need to worry about adding more rules now.

^^i keep it clean for work (except the one time i got to say fuck several times under oath in court because it was in the note they made me read out loud
) and around small kids and that's it. if you don't like my inclination to swear that don't be around me. swearing like a truck driver is one of the benefits of catholic school education around here, all us grads leave with a useful and extensive vulgar vocabulary! | |

My kids are fluent thanks to me not watching my mouth, but they understand they shouldn't say them and Beryl has never once said any of them at school, so I'm glad for that

About swearing... I don't know. I really don't FEEL these, I'm not a native English speaker. But I think it all depends on context. If it's in lyrics, it's absolutely okay for me. I read somewhere that swearing helps you relieve (phisical) pain. And when you see your beloved songs voted off instead of your choices... well, that's often phisical pain.
Another note; sometimes I feel that these elections are more about the community than the songs themselves. We mostly care about the others' votes, I think everybody can decide which is his/hers favorite song alone. The elections are about watching the others choices, getting to now different perspectives and ways of thinking about the same material and most of all thinking as a community. A good example, one of the most memorable moments of these elections was the elimination of chariots of fire ghosts. That's how it works. Anyway, my vote is G. | |
