I've never played the Dreamcast game, but it doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the series, aside from the protagonist being a dolphin. It doesn't follow the storyline, and nobody who developed the Megadrive games was involved with it.

I think I'll have to dive back in then (pun partially intended) because I loved the approach of the game in terms of visuals, sounds and setting. It found it highly relaxing whilst playing so I think I'll have to play the second one too. I'm a huge advocate of the Dreamcast but I never played it either. I've not heard anyone be kind about it but when no one from the originals was involved it's not surprising. On a random note, if you ever want to talk games. PM me. I'll be happy to chat!
