Don't forget the film is first in trilogy, so these 2.5 hours of music could be reserved for future and we're more probably getting 1 hour of music. However, that's just me trying not to raise expectation too high.
speaking of that it could be like the Broken album with 97 consecutive 1-second tracks of silence or whatever hahaha. Like it's actually 1 hour of music and 1.5 hours of silence with a 2-second soundbyte on track #3000. That would be so cruel.

I was wrong about the length actually. We're still working on transitions but at the moment it's 2 hours 55 minutes. All new, non-repeating themes.
Take that, naysayers!

11/17/11 6:12 PM

And it will be released Dec 5th?

(I know you won't answer but I couldn't resist) tongue sticking out smiley

If it's under 3 hours I'll be very disappointed, mister! winking smiley

SCHWING!

Oh hey and if the CD version takes a little longer to come out as opposed to the Digital version, I'll have you know the week of the 5th in January would make an awesome birthday present! winking smiley

3 hours of music?! Dude, you're nuts! And I mean that in the nicest way possible. Either way, I am downloading this as soon as it's available.

3 Hours - great news! Listening to comesforth as I wake this morning...the latest music is beautifully gentle, sounds like a descendant of Still. This is going to be epic.

Thank you Trent and Atticus.

Anyone on [www.comesforthinthethaw.com] right now?
Some of the most beautiful work Reznor's ever done...

11/18/11 3:15 AM

^I agree.WOW!!!

11/18/11 5:50 AM

Anyone reckon these CFITT tracks are just the base for real tracks? Or do you reckon these are the full tracks...?

My opinion - the latest sounds (at about 7.30 UK time this morning, so it may have changed again) was a full song. Everything prior was snippets of sound files.

You still call the score to a movie the score to a movie. Sure it can be called part of the soundtrack, but various artist soundtracks in the movie "don't always" carry the movie in any direction. It has a completely different significance in a film, just saying.

So beautiful.

Hahaha, awesome!!!
We know better than to doubt by now, after the amazing track record already established consistently for the past 20+ years. Well, most of us know that, apparently!

if naysayer is me, should i apologize or what? i feel no shame in saying it's not so common for score albums to be longer than movies themselves. :|

11/18/11 8:27 AM

Few more days can't wait!

11/18/11 8:43 AM

I cannot wait for this. I have a feeling this will be like musical candy that you can eat with your ears.

I completely share the same feeling.

I have downloaded some songs which are being played in the background of the photo transition and uploaded it to certain soundcloud named operationthawsounds.

I would post the link to it, but I would be breaking the forum rules, so I am going to avoid that.

But yeah, I completely have a great deal of a great emotion for those songs, I wish the world could listen to them and download them freely, and wish they get stored in the collective consciousness, forever, and ever, and ever.

And ever and ever.

(I will upload the new song now. People: keep informing in the forum about new loops being played!)

11/18/11 11:01 AM

Still the same as 10 hours ago. Good. Can finally hear it out loud without waking the neighbours...I love it.

11/18/11 11:10 AM

Looking forward to the new information on December 2nd 2011!

my guess is that these are the songs. He (Trent) referred to them above as non-repeating themes, so what we have heard so far (on CFITT) fits that description. (ignoring the fact that what ever is playing on CFITT at any given time is essentially one track on uber-repeat).

based on the two i've heard thus far, it seems like there's going to be some long pieces on this record. this new one is subtly funky, nay, it's downright beautiful! looking forward to hearing more, but the two i've heard thus far are really nice.

I haven't listened to either, but I agree. That trailer from awhile back that was described but never made it to the internet was supposedly eight minutes. And "Dotcom" was seven minutes; only two NIN songs (excluding remixes, covers and Quake material) have crossed the seven-minute mark so far.

Hmm, NIN longform...maybe thats why he busted out the Pink Floyd synth on the last clip on CFITT.

Holy shit.

That's a whole lotta album.

I can't help but wonder, are you going to be doing the score for next two movies of the trilogy? Can't wait to see the American versions. I love the originals.
