I was really disappointed by the film, especially the visuals. I hope Fincher finally calls it quits with the RED Camera; it looks like shite in low light.

I also felt like the music didn't really fit with it. During the periods of on-screen menace it did, but overall i thought that the soundtrack was devoid of the feminine themes that are the foundation of much of the movie.

It wasn't terrible, but it felt like it could have used some polish and editing. I usually don't feel that way after seeing a Fincher movie.

I think the soundtrack should have been utilized a little more. Alot was just repeats...but to be honest I don't think the plan was actually to use all of it.
I doubt anyone would remember from memmory but were Infiltrator and Oraculum even in the movie?
I think maybe the soundtrack may have been 3 hours of music for the sole purpose of the possible remakes of the other two movies, so Trent wouuldn't have to spend another 28 months working two other soundtracks and so they wouldn't have to use a different artist to compose new ones that may not fit the tone of the movie as well, and to avoid reusing the whole soundtrack. I could be wrong, it is simply a guess though. I'm more than positive only a few song actually made it into the film itself. Maybe...

Its a beautiful soundtrack. I was also wondering why all of it wasnt used in the film.
Because the score is longer than the film?

That's slightly true, the film was cut a little, but time-wise the whole film uncut was about 3 hours, only a few minutes were cut though, and only part of the soundtrack (maybe 25 percent) was actually used. A lot of leftover songs.

You can't have a film be nonstop music: it would get distracting and end up feeling like a musical. The OST is a collection of all the pieces they wrote over a 14 month period for the film, regardless of inclusion.

All I'm saying is a normal soundtrack only has mabey 3 or 4 songs omitted from the film, this one has about two cds worth omitted from the film. They used one song like 6 times throughout (Obviously an overexaggeration) As I was sayin though, it's just speculation and I feel a rather brilliant idea regardless. Though I suppose the tactic of releasing it all at once before the other two movies would be rather odd. I was just juggling it around in my head and found it quite odd. This was me simply being hopeful, not only on the other movies, but on the inclusion of trent scoring the others if they're made. As I don't expect Trent to spend another 28 months doing two more soundtracks. Besides I was waiting like the whole movie to see what Infiltrator and oraculum would be used for. And I noticed not only did those not (seem) to appear but a gigantic fuckin chunk of other songs also had been left out. And I was expecting A Thousand Details to be included in the scene with the line "A science of thousand details"...just sayin.

Unless you're a fan of the books, the movie is pretty terrible. The plot is convoluted, and told with no craft or nuance, it just moves forward from one plot point to another. Often times, it just throws you into a new scene, with hardly any explanation as to what he's doing or who he's talking to.

The end is completely unbelievable and sociopathic too.

please explain.

i want to hear this.

all i'm reading is "i couldn't keep up with what was going on. i'm slow and blame the external world for my shortcomings."

i never read any of the books. i kept up fine.

without looking it up, could you tell me all the names of the family members, where they live, and their personality flaws? the movie throws all of that at you once, and its overwhelming if you haven't read the books.

also daniel craig is not particularly believable as a reporter.

I haven't read the books, and no, without looking it up, I couldn't tell you all of their names, or their personality flaws... though if you don't know where most of them live you were definitely not paying attention... the point is you don't NEED to catch all of that stuff the first time you watch the movie in order to enjoy it. That's half the fun of watching it again!

i just watched the rom com 'friends with benefits' and i couldn't tell you the names of the two main characters but i sure as fuck "got" the movie.

Can't wait to finally see the film this coming weekend and just enjoy nearly three hours of brilliance from my two favorite artists on earth: Reznor/Fincher. I keep hearing great things from friends on how good the movie is!

Did some homework.
Compared the FYC score (these 2 CDs were sent to the academy jury) with the original soundtrack (3 CDs).

The tracks on the FYC score refer to the tracks on the official soundtrack. They are not the same. They have another approach, different mix, and they are edited.
These are the track you hear in the movie.
It's almost 90 minutes of music.
For me it's an album on its own.
