Ok, so I'm 13 pages into this post...
Love this video!!! Love the Soundtrack (Those 3 discs have not left my trusty 'ole carousel CD player since I got them). Some random thoughts;
Totally jazzed about the dlx edition shipping and appreciate the attention to detail and quality Trent and company have made. He took a lot of senseless nonsense over some of the earlier issues. Ashame as he has been so hugely generous and open with his fans. Trent... We Love 'Ya!
I like MM... But to me (just me), his stuff seems less and less interesting - rehashed, tired. When I first heard AntiChrist... Holy SH**! I listened to it about a dozen times... Then felt like I needed a shower (and was going to Hell, Ha!). But same era NIN, TDS - I didn't know what to take away from it... Love the sounds!!! That reason is why it's still one of my all time favorite discs!
Music really touches us, and Trent pours his being into this work - I will likely never meet him, but wow - he has touched me, hugely enhanced my life. How I design, write, photograph, edit - often have his work playing as I'm doing so; influencing the senses and subsequent outcome. NIN album art has done the same thing... Some grunge and grit inspired by TDS & FDTS are in pieces I've worked on. ...Would be curious to know what type of the visual art Trent enjoys. Hm?
Trent's versatility, vision ever growing, evolving music and sounds... I never tire of it! From PHM to TGWTDT - it has been an amazing musical gift! Oh, somewhere there was discussion of "stealing" from another artist. In the world of music, I would not use that term. With the obvious exception of plagerism, there are so many different sounds, instruments, genres and artists - one might hear a track, album, sound they like and say... I wanna' do that! But I imagine it would be a starting point into their own sound. Led Zeppelin. How many kids did they inspire to pick up a guitar (yup, my cheesey high-school band name... "Presence" - ha!) because they wanted to be Jimmy Page and jam - launching more hard rock bands who didn't steal Zeppelin's sound, but were inspired - then went off to make new music eith their own signature too it. ...Heck, a Zeppelin track may even be re-done someday to create a new version with unique artistic interpretation to be used in an edgy and dark film 40+ years later because somewhere / somehow another musician heard and and became inspired! ;-)
Ok... There's a random post of personal opinons to take up a little more space here!
And... I'm curious, who has turntables out there?
