As long as Trent is healthy, happy, and doing his thing in the studio I could care less about pics or videos being posted here. Just my two cents though.

DITTO!

Why should he have to?

We, as a fan base, have already given him the positive reinforcement necessary. He knows we're here.

I, personally, don't want him just posting random things on a frequent basis that aren't quality.

Also, mind you, Trent tried being thick with his fan base through social networks. Joking with us and sharing info from time to time was kinda his M.O., but trolls got the best of social networks and Trent said "enough."

He's a husband and a dad now. He's got way cooler things to do than worry if we're still hanging on or not.

;-)[/quote]

That was a little discourteous, and unnecessary. It was only a suggestion. It wasn't intended for anyone to "have" to do anything. Clearly he's got things to do, that is obvious, and doesn't need re-mentioned. Who said anything about quality? Trent is a producer of the highest quality, that is given. There was also no intention for a "frequent" basis. I've seen this been done with other performers with great success and thought maybe Trent would be up for it. I appreciate the information on this already being tried though. And I am still, hanging on....

You know Marilyn Manson fans, well my best friend is one of them and yeah...me too but..

they never like to admit that Trent Reznor helped Marilyn Manson and they like to
believe that he is some kind of god that needs no help or inspiration for his success.

Marilyn Manson recorded a cover song with Johnny Depp called You're So Vain performed
originally by some babe named Carly Simon with the lyrics, well from Starfuckers, inc.

My friend says that Marilyn Manson is sending Trent Reznor a message with this cover.

Unlike Marilyn Manson fans I have a sense of gratitude to whom helped Rammstein out.

Things I see Trent Reznor did for Marilyn Manson's steam roller success thanks T. Reznor

He wanted Marilyn Manson to be the first band on his new Nothing records in 1992.
He invited Marilyn Manson to work with him in the Sharon Tate murder house, the
Gave Up music video and the Get Your Gunn music video were recorded. He helped write,
record. produce and everything else for Marilyn Manson until The Dope Show in 1998.
He credited Brian Warner and Marilyn Manson and his then girlfriend Missy in The
Downward Spiral credits, thank you's 1994 (my friend says that's proof that Marilyn
Manson convinced Trent Reznor to become darker) I say he was just giving thanks to his
new friends and colleagues at that time)Then he turns around and says T. Reznor ripped
off Skinny Puppy and I say, well maybe on a few things but so what? Marilyn Manson
ripped off a hell of a lot more than that!) Mr. Reznor got him on soundtracks, sure
maybe Reznor was kind of hard on Manson but the fact still remains he contributed much
to the celebrity status and popularity of Marilyn Manson and that's not all either...

but that's enough for now, there are so many things in my mind, it's hard to organize.

Hey, we all are hanging on. That's why we're here.

Not sure how any of what I said was discourteous, but take it as you will. What I wrote was my opinion, much like what you wrote was yours....

But, eh, I'm easy.

I'm afraid that whole discussion is one that's best avoided. My experience has been that loyalists or Trent or Manson or both rarely, if ever, budge on their perspectives.

In any case, Trent relies on his musical growth and sonic contributions....

Manson seems to rely more on gimmicks..... And they've all gotten a bit old. :-/

04/28/12 5:44 PM

Yes, but those gimmicks are so entertaining! Antichrist Superstar, 1996 BOOBIES! 1998

nothing

04/28/12 6:19 PM

^^ You are comparing apples to oranges are you not?
One man is a musician and composer and the other a consumate showman. Manson's songs lend themselves to him performing. Would you really like to see him stand in one spot and sing Beautiful People or Dope Hat? Sadly he doesn't have the big label money behind him paying for his extravagant stage shows as he did when he was on top.

I am writing this as a fan of both men with a respect for what they do. The constant comparing of the two is a little ridiculous. I don't know about you, but my mangos are mangos and my grapes are grapes. smiling smiley

Prometheus

LOL

Ok, so I'm 13 pages into this post...

Love this video!!! Love the Soundtrack (Those 3 discs have not left my trusty 'ole carousel CD player since I got them). Some random thoughts;

Totally jazzed about the dlx edition shipping and appreciate the attention to detail and quality Trent and company have made. He took a lot of senseless nonsense over some of the earlier issues. Ashame as he has been so hugely generous and open with his fans. Trent... We Love 'Ya!

I like MM... But to me (just me), his stuff seems less and less interesting - rehashed, tired. When I first heard AntiChrist... Holy SH**! I listened to it about a dozen times... Then felt like I needed a shower (and was going to Hell, Ha!). But same era NIN, TDS - I didn't know what to take away from it... Love the sounds!!! That reason is why it's still one of my all time favorite discs!

Music really touches us, and Trent pours his being into this work - I will likely never meet him, but wow - he has touched me, hugely enhanced my life. How I design, write, photograph, edit - often have his work playing as I'm doing so; influencing the senses and subsequent outcome. NIN album art has done the same thing... Some grunge and grit inspired by TDS & FDTS are in pieces I've worked on. ...Would be curious to know what type of the visual art Trent enjoys. Hm?

Trent's versatility, vision ever growing, evolving music and sounds... I never tire of it! From PHM to TGWTDT - it has been an amazing musical gift! Oh, somewhere there was discussion of "stealing" from another artist. In the world of music, I would not use that term. With the obvious exception of plagerism, there are so many different sounds, instruments, genres and artists - one might hear a track, album, sound they like and say... I wanna' do that! But I imagine it would be a starting point into their own sound. Led Zeppelin. How many kids did they inspire to pick up a guitar (yup, my cheesey high-school band name... "Presence" - ha!) because they wanted to be Jimmy Page and jam - launching more hard rock bands who didn't steal Zeppelin's sound, but were inspired - then went off to make new music eith their own signature too it. ...Heck, a Zeppelin track may even be re-done someday to create a new version with unique artistic interpretation to be used in an edgy and dark film 40+ years later because somewhere / somehow another musician heard and and became inspired! ;-)

Ok... There's a random post of personal opinons to take up a little more space here!

And... I'm curious, who has turntables out there?

I have a turntable and yes Antichrist Svperstar nothing 1996 is a great album!

Prometheus looks like a great Sci Fi movie prelude to the 1979 Alien movie, awesome!

The space jockey corpse they ran into laying in it's turret gun we now find out!

Yeah, "gyped" is a racial slur.

Also, I doubt Topspin is ripping anyone off.

Rob said yesterday that they were indeed shipped on Friday. He said we should probably see them popping up in the next 4-5 days.

My receipt shows that mine has shipped as well.

05/01/12 11:44 AM

Anyone heard from sandbag yet?

05/03/12 6:28 AM

I received my order today, and it's just as nice looking as the pictures.
High quality throughout.
There is but one flaw. The USB disk is not visible on any of my computers when I plug it in. Tried on PC/MAC, WinXP, WIN7 and also looking at disk management on alla machines. Nothing sad smiley
Does anyone else have the same problem?

/Nalle in Denmark.

05/03/12 9:45 PM

Denmark?

lol

How the hell did someone in Denmark get the order before someone like me here in the states?

Good LORD I need a new post office! lol

05/04/12 6:38 AM

Don't forget there was a variety of shipping options, if you chose the cheapest one, you might not get it as soon as someone who went for a higher price

05/04/12 2:44 PM

It looks like the Marilyn Manson fans got ripped off on Born Villian as far as packaging goes but I have not listened to the new album yet.

Nope... incredibly frustrating. An update from someone/anyone on Trent's side would be appreciated. These idiots at Sandbag are a disgrace.

In case you were not aware, there is an an actual Manson Discussion thread here. [forum.nin.com]. It is better suited to these types of comments.
