We're in this together...

This is a private space for the outraged NIN fans with the cancellation of the two concerts in Brazil (in São Paulo, on October 7th and Porto Alegre, October 9th), but mostly for the São Paulo concert, since we haven't received any explanation for the canceling.

Here we will put our hearts out to demonstrate how irritated, disappointed and angry we all are with the lack of professionalism and respect of the Production companies responsible for the cancellation.

Firstly and foremost, we were warned only three weeks before the concerts that they were cancelled. For the Porto Alegre concert we were told by the production company (Opinião) that the cancellation was due to the low demand for tickets, thus they were not able to afford a big concert with so many technical effects as a NIN concert. That doesn't necessarily takes their guilt away, since it's still only three weeks after the concert.

Even worse than the Porto Alegre organization, after their concert was cancelled a whole lot of fans that would attend that date started to desperately look for tickets for São Paulo. Many of these fans bought the tickets for the São Paulo date in hope to still be able to see NIN.

When these fans called the organization for the SP concert, they were told that the demand for tickets in São Paulo was huge, even more after the other date was cancelled, that without counting with the already sold tickets. Many fans from all over the country had already booked flights, hotels and spent hundreds in phone calls to São Paulo to do such bookings.

Then, on September 17th, we were told by the production company in São Paulo (Mondo Entertainment) that the date in São Paulo was also cancelled. Their official notes that appeared on newspapers and websites was that it was due to "technical issues". Later on, when pressured by angry fans calling, they started to say it was because of the low ticket demand, then it changed to "the band cancelled" and later on to "we don't know why, only our superiors".

We've been made clowns of and we still are. Whenever someone tries to contact Mondo for some reasonable explanation, they start making up stupid excuses.

The root of our disappointment isn't in the lack of excuses however; we are truly disappointed and crashed by the fact that we have been waiting since the dates were announced. Many people bought the tickets MONTHS away, many people bought even in the day that was cancelled, without knowing that hours from then there would be no concert.

As said before, we are lost. We have no explanation and we are raged by the lack of professionalism of such companies. When calling their office, they keep transferring us from one department to another and each one gives us a different excuse, but nothing is done about it.

More than four thousand fans are disappointed. We do not want out money back; we want to see NIN live. We, by all means, know that this is not the band's fault and we are almost as sure that they are probably as disappointed as we are. It wasn't only disrespect with the buying costumers of a service; it was also disrespect with the artists of Nine Inch Nails.

We want to see them. We are in this together.

Here in colombia we are very sad and disappointed due the NIN concert cancelation, if the problem was the ticket sales, you people should know that here most people buy their tickets in the last days, so if there is any cahnce that the concert can be done, we the fans are really up to do everything we can to make it happen

it was just too good to be truth... I spended a $600 dollars airplane ticket to go and see Trent in Bogota... now there's no concert....i'm really sad and pissed!!!

That is why I don't understand people who travel to different states or different countries to go see a freaking concert. If the concert cancels, you are stuck going to a different state or country for nothing. And not all concert arenas are near interesting sightseeing areas of the city. Many arenas are in boring areas in a suburb or a farming community.

If said artist is not performing my city at an arena that is easy to get to then I am just not going to buy a ticket.

Geez, it's not that difficult to understand. I happen to live in a rural area. The closest NIN was playing to me was in another state, 4 hours away. I wanted to see them play--I was more than willing to drive the distance--end of story. A large population of the people living in the US don't live in cities. I would wager that many of the people seeing NIN's concerts traveled a substantial distance. Happens all of the time.

Trent, if you could just do us all a favor and please put all problems and obstacles on hold, say all the right things at all the right times to make everybody happy forever, (including the indiscriminate disclosure of all info which may or may not be any of our business), and, you know, just more or less be perfect, that would be super. Thanks. Oh, and while you're at it, if you could just make the Earth spin the other way, that would be much appreciated. Until then, I hate you.

Well, he DID give you a free album. And free access to a site where all you seem to do is bitch and moan about what a hack he is. But I guess that doesn't matter, does it?

Taking a show as huge and complex as NIN across thousands of miles by air is bound to have a thousand points where something can go wrong. Trent doesn't want to do shows that won't be the best possible shows they can be, and that may be a fault, but personally, I appreciate it, as a fan.

I understand your disappointment, but what do the vendors know? Who says they're telling the truth?

I don´t know if you, Trent will see this post... but I will try to expose my frustration about the cancellation of the Nin tour in Brazil.
This show was so expected to me that when I know about de cancellation I just cried... frustration is a word.
Sometimes I think that I have to love ordinary musics, you know?
The kind of music that don´t have nothing to say.... yeah... becouse People that say something, don´t come to Brazil frequently...
And brasilians fans have to wait... again, again, again...
I´m so sad... I´m a NIN´s fan... and I just don´t understand why? Tecnical Trobles? What?
I bought my tiquetes about three months ... I waited three months ...
Any money in this world will back me the sensation about one Nine Inch Nails Show....
I´m sorry for my English... I´m really bad...
I never hate to live in a poor and forgotten Country just like today.
And enjoy the Samba! Carnaval, Football...
Brazil is much more than this!
I ask again: Trent comeback to Brazil!!!. There are many people who loves you in Brazil and these people are still waiting for you... You can´t imagine.
I´m so sad... really sad... there is nothing more to say....

i'm reminded of how pissed trent was during this festival.if it is that type of production issue then i can totally understand why he wouldn't want to go through with the shows.if its a ticket sale problem that makes sense as well.he isn't doing this for his health and i can't imagine how much this is all costing him.i'm sure almost every penny he's making is going right back into the tour.if he's not gonna at least break even then bringing the shows there is just crazy.it all happened so suddenly and i know how upset you guys are but you know he will make it up to you.i'm sure he's doing the best that he can.

Thanks.

Hey, Inferno...if you're going to "yell" at me on a message board, make sure you know who you're quoting.

09/18/08 1:07 PM

Oh, for those who's asking about political problems, Brazil is so calm (as always) that is boring. I don't know very well about Colombia, and the Farc problems, but i'm very sure if the problem is big or small, it won't affect Bogota. And about the weather, will be spring in october here. Hot, but not that much. As I said, Sao Paulo is a huge city and people to buy tickers were never a problem. Actually, because of rarety of gigs, the organizers sell the tickers for a high price. The NIN cheaper ticket was $180, and still, it sold well until the cancellation.

Maybe you guys don't understand, it's about the money, sure, but more because NO ONE cares to do shows here in South America. "Nah, who care about poor contries with a buch of poor people", "they don't even know who we are"... Things like these. We are so happy when a band plans to do a show here, we pay amounts of money, we flight to distant cities... And also, we suffer too because those bands CANCELLS their gigs often. It's no more a surprise to us. We see things like "technical problems" as "we don't like you people, sorry.". Just like Metallica did 4 years ago (people here of Sao Paulo may remember this).

One more point I'd like to make... I know this is a relatively new board (and free!) ...to bitch on but I see so many complaining and its their first or second post. Part of me keeps thinking "more, more, more" and "where the fuck were you". Where's our SA friends? Cancel. Oh, there they are. Like I said, this may not be fair because the board is new.

NiN in Colombia. Terrible Lie

09/18/08 4:15 PM

I find it funny that everyone, including the front man of NIN, Trent Reznor, is against "greed and corruption" yet TR is for a candidate who took more money from freddie and fannie in his four year term, along with other Democrats to not regulate them. Low and behold it is now a problem and the democrats are the ones saying the republicans are to blame....this is why everyone so wrapped up in Obama's speeching prowess pisses me off. No one bothers to look into the whole story....All they do is put a big screen picture of Bush becoming McCain.
