SWINDLEY EDIT: CHANGED TOPIC TITLE (I HATE NON-DESCRIPTIVE TITLES)

Here is a story for you:

I brought Pretty Hate Machine to school for 'Show and Tell' as a child, so I suppose I've been a fan for quite some time, though surely what I know about the history of NIN is pretty limited compared to some of you...

So if you have any neat facts about NIN you don't think are common knowledge, interesting stories or personal accounts, I would be more than happy to hear about it.

I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with many of you, and hearing your stories and opinions in the forums.

Trent Reznor and other members would send an errand boy to pick up obscure and crude magazines of different types such as "over 50". That job must have sucked...

I too, did a show and tell with the song Gave Up for an honors english class. Boy, did I get a whole lot of cricket chirps in the background after all was said and done. But WOW, my teacher was sure intrigued.

I found this out through Rock Band. Haha.

I guess Trent Reznor was a janitor in the same place he made his first song "Down In It". That's like freaking awesome.

Well since there's talk about Pretty Hate Machine and Down In It you guys might find this interesting also. This has been around for a while and might be old news to a lot, but when taping for the Down In It video, they had these cameras that were lifted by balloons and such and allegedly one of the cameras got away and some people found the camera in some rural town and needless to say, they were pretty disturbed. Hard Copy (yeah remember that show)did an episode about it. Check it out. It's pretty funny. Enjoy

Just a weird personal story:

I'd just woken up in the middle of the night from a dream where some kind of swordsman was wanting to teach me "self-discipline"...

I got up and randomly felt like checking my myspace before going to bed... I find that about 15 minutes ago, Nine Inch Nails had uploaded the new single "Discipline" O_o After that, I was too excited to go back to sleep!

Yeah I found it pretty funny myself. The fact that there was this huge investigation that spawned from it is even funnier

I knew there was a reason I liked him besides his music and integrity.

That Hard Copy "investigation" about the Down In It video was hilarious, I saw that awhile back!

09/05/08 8:47 PM

Trent offically remixed a Notorius B.I.G / Puff Daddy song called Victory

West Side Connection (Ice Cube, Mac 10, WC) used the HURT guitar line in a song called The
Gangsta. The Killa & The Dope Dealer

Johny Cash did a cover of Hurt

T. Rez helped produce Flyentology and is even in their video .. sort of.

Trent Reznor remixed the a dirty version of N.E.R.D'sLapdance

Just like you imagined is used in the 300 Trailer

C.S.I. has used NIN several times as background/theme music.

09/05/08 9:22 PM

... Trent Reznor is kinda short for a guy... O.O .. He's 5'6, or 5'7 or something.. I suppose that counts as a random fact.. (I have no idea if it's little-known or not)
And according to IMDB, his nickname is "Stimpy"

Yeah, if you looked at it closely, you'd have seen it was even made in Mercer, Pa.

I used to work at a plant nursery, and we had one of the Reznor heaters hanging up in one of the corners. One day I decided to investigate further and saw the "Mercer Pennsylvania" tag just below it.

Someone did that with Opeth in a Philosophy class of mine... She basically made her assignment an excuse to play Opeth rather than using Opeth as a means of doing the assignment. Sigh.

Somebody in the 1994 tour liked Frank Zappa, because some of Shiek Yerbouti is heard in Closer.
According to Marilyn Manson, Trent and co. did so much cocaine that more than a month went by without any work being done on his (not trent's) album, but trent rarely participated fully in the crazy acts his band performed with groupies.

I've always wondered if they could sing expert on their own songs, because I have problems doing that with a lot of songs, Heroes by Bowie being one of them.

Stupid pitch meter.

09/06/08 11:51 PM

Another Rock Band fact, lol.

Apparently, Trent sometimes uses the psuedonymn "Steve Austin" while on tour.

09/07/08 11:11 AM

Trent went on Tour with Revolting Cocks in 1990
Trent appears in the video 'Faster than Light' of the band 'Lead into Gold' a side project of Paul Barker.
Every Day is exactly the same is used in 'Wanted' movie
