actually it wasn't live 8...it was the ReAct show for hurricane katrina relief...
live 8 is a benefit show to push richer countries to help out 3rd world countries or something to that effect..

According to Youtube, Reznor's played Live 8 as well, a pretty long set too.

Kudos to him. Did he ever talk about Katrina? Wasn't he supposed to be on tour or something when the storm hit?

No, Trent did all the music and sounds. You're thinking of Doom 3.

I got up and randomly felt like checking my myspace before going to bed... I find that about 15 minutes ago, Nine Inch Nails had uploaded the new single "Discipline" O_o After that, I was too excited to go back to sleep!

Great coincidence! grinning smiley

Trent knew who did the opening theme for Doom 3. It was Tweaker AKA Chris Vrenna, he was making a public jab at him =D

VVV Thanks, sleepy dumb mistakes =)

^^^ correct Quake3 to Doom3 please, otherwise somebody might use it as a source and spread the wrong info!

Martin Atkins was technically the first drummer for Nine Inch Nails pre-dating Chris Vrenna by a few months.

Nine Inch Nails become the band name after passing the 2 week test. According to Trent the 2 week test consists of picking a name you like for at least 2 weeks or longer that can have a cool logo.

Trent's favorite restuarant is (or might be was at this point) NOLA in New Orleans.

When Chris Vrenna was injured from one of Trent's flying mic stands during the PHM tours Jeff Ward was the temporary replacement. Because of that Trent followed Jeff Ward around on various projects in the early 90s. The dedication to him (Ward) on TDS is mainly a nod to the friendship they had from this period.

Al Jourgensen produced the majority of Broken as well as use material on the album that was originally intended for Psalm 69. 'Get Down Make Love' was the first time that Jourgensen and Trent ever worked together.

During The Fragile era of Nine Inch Nails the huge Gameworks Arcade in Vegas was Trent's favorite getaway.

Trent once had a cat named Fuckchop.

This probably common knowledge, but here goes...

Trent sings back up vocals on Tori Amos's song "Past the Mission", from the Under the Pink album, 1994. From what I recall Trent and Tori were good friends, but somehow Courtney Love got in the middle of it and messed things up on both ends. Both Tori and Trent have been asked about it interviews, but neither ever divulged any details. They both said they missed the other's friendship though.

Didn't read 7 pages, but did you know how The hand that feeds was performed in Moscow? Trent yelled F#@% 6E0R6E 8U5H right before the 1st verse.

Don't know if this has already been commented on.but i read in wikipediea that there was a song called ''just do it'' that trent made for the downward spiral.the song was about ''just'' killing yourself cause nobody cares.but it wasn't added to the album because trent's co producer didn't want to be any part of it and thought it was too extreme.
WOW...i would have loved to hear the song though........

08/11/09 3:42 PM

Timbaland did a remix of The Hand That Feeds.
(No, this is not a joke)

08/11/09 3:53 PM

Trent recorded (or at least began recording) his cover of Metal in 1995, according to this article: [www.theninhotline.net]

Michael Jackson was a HUGE fan of The Downward Spiral.

The Non-Entity posts have got me to thinking...

(I may be wrong but...) wasn't Non-Entity originally a throw-away from With Teeth?

I first heard it when Trend did the Katrina Aid thing, and then I found an bootlegged mp3 that was labeled live from Atlanta, GA.

My question is - on the recent studio version from the NIN|JA EP Sampler - was that a newly-recorded version or was it the With Teeth version?

The song info credits Dave Grohl with live drumming, and he only worked with Trent during the With Teeth sessions. So it's an old recording from that era.

TR appears on the track 'Era Vulgaris' by Queens of the Stone Age. The track was released for free via the interwebz and it is commonly believed that the reason the track was not included on the 2007 album 'Era Vulgaris' is because TR omitted a track from Year Zero that Josh Homme (QOTSA) had contributed to. Homme has denied that rumor though.

trent's his middle name. Michael is his first....and uhhh. i belive his grandfather invented some sort of heating device. i saw one at home depot in the bronx. it was right over the front entrance. it says reznor right on the front.

Haha . . . at the grocery store I used to work at there were some of those in the back and one of my friends climbed a ladder and tore off the thing that said Reznor for me!!

I used to work at Perry Drugs in Detroit, MI (before they all became Rite-Aid stores) in '95 and noticed the heater in the backroom was a REZNOR heater, so I used our step ladder and nicked the label off the front of it before I quit my job. It's one of my prized NIN possessions: [twitpic.com]

yay! My grandfather has a reznor heater in his garage! Very cool

This thread is fucking awesome.
Found this online today...

"Trent Reznor is a direct descendant of George Reznor, the founder of the Reznor Company in 1888. Reznor Company previously manufacturered Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning equipment, before being sold in the sixties. The equipment is still manufactured in Mercer, Pennsylvania, the town where Trent grew up."
Thought I'd add to the awesome info on the Reznor heaters.

Now for my contribution!
For those of you who don't know, Richard Patrick, was the guitarist for Nine Inch Nails during PHM era. He left during the recording of The Downward Spiral - and later became the lead singer/founder of the band Filter. And his nickname became "piggy" while he was doing sessions with NIN's... on ninwiki it says that there was no relevance (well, no 'known' evidence) to the song and Patrick's nickname, but I personally don't know if that's completely true ... winking smiley

Oh and for those of you who didn't know this as well, Robert Patrick is Richard Patricks' brother. Robert is the main bad-guy-terminator in Terminator 2: Judgment Day!

I'll go looking through my magazines for the interview that it was revealed in back in the 90s. There also used to be a NIN fansite that had this great section about Trent Reznor facts where it was also mentioned as well as:

Trent used to have his septum pierced (as seen in the HLAH video) but removed it due to the piercing constantly getting infected from colds.

When PHM took off in sales Trent used a portion of his earnings to purchase a Porsche because he had always wanted one but was never able to afford one. This action seemed to somehow label NIN as sell-outs early on.

And many others that honestly I'm too tired to recollect at this moment. I do believe that the fansite I'm thinking of was linked off of nineinchnails.net or seemslikesalvationnews.com so the site might still be around if anyone wants to go looking.

Trent Reznor actually played the original drum part at the end of Piggy, and liked it enough to just leave it as part of the song. Of course, live is played by the drummer, now, but the original recording is Trent on the drums.
