Trent and Tori album and tour?

Ok so here is a thought. . . .

So I was driving in the car last night and my wife had a Tori Amos album playing (Under the Pink I think) and the track Past the Mission was playing (the song where Trent was doing the background vocals) and it got me thinking.

Trent mentioned in an article last year that he was done with the "rock band" format and wanted to try something different. As thankful as I am that Robin came back and he put together an amazing tour of this magnitude (what a spectacle!) I would love to see him collaborate with Tori Amos on an album and supporting tour of small(er) venues.

How cool would it be with Tori and Trent taking turns on piano, and or Trent rocking the guitar(or even the Xylophone!) with Tori on the grand piano!

One of the things that I love about NIN is how it has matured and grown up as we and Trent have grown up and this could be another tangent or evolution of the music, ala Ghost I-V.

In one of the 2005 KROQ interviews it was implied that Trent had worked on a couple of tracks with Tori Amos but only 'past the mission' has been released with Trent's involvement as far as i know, i would love to see them work together again or hear any of their past collaborations

Hmyeah, kinda agree indeed. It would be great if they could do some more music together. And I always loved the lyrical references to NIN in Tori's lyrics. Not that this is major or anything, but just nice to notice. smiling smiley

no.

edit: ah shucks, it'd probably be good. I just don't think they're really in the same mindset. 10/15 years ago, maybe.

I'd be interested to hear what they did, they do seem to be coming closer together again these days in their approach and mindset. I'd still rather see him work with Bjork but that's a little obsession of mine.

That concept has already been done with Mike Patton, Reznor & Bjork would end up killing each other in a studio enviroment, as for Tori & Trent getting it back on again, it would be nice to see them get back together for a short tour but i can't see it lasting any longer than that.

Though atleast Tori can have Trent's offspring & the world can finally go back to normal.

If I thought this once, I have thought it a million times over the past fifteen years. Two of the best on tour together...it would be great, but I think that the window to this possibility closed many moons ago...

I remember in TDS Trent said "annie, hold a little tighter." I could've sworn he was talking about Tori amos; annie and tori; both have read hair? but it was about her.

In my mind ive always envisioned Tori and Trent were an item at once time, wild sex and fun talks. Tori has a lyric, something like "You said pianos can never be guitars" there are a few other of her lyrics I cant remember right now That have made me think their relationship soured.

Nope.

Tori and Trent would be great to see/hear.

I agree with you Wraith. I adore Bjork, and would love to see them do a collaboration!

I'd love to see Trent & Tori do some more stuff together. Didn't Trent go through a phase of wanting to collaborate with a female vocalist during the Fragile era?

Yep. If I'm not mistaken, he said that in the AMP article that came out right around The Fragile's release.

Agree... Tori is sort of doing her own (crazy) thing. I think it would have worked 15 years ago - but not now. Under The Pink is a great CD - but ew, heard anything she has released lately?

I would definetly not want to see that.Tori Amos makes me cringe.I wouldn't mind seeing something with Bjork though.

I honestly think trent would get tired of bjork...i love bjork, don't get me wrong...

09/04/08 8:52 PM

As much as I have always wanted more of a collab with Tori, I remember once in an interview where he said that he would be willing to do it but she wouldn't. I hate to say it but it sounds like a bad break-up to me.

09/04/08 9:38 PM

I love trent, I love tori.
they're both incredibly intelligent, talented musicians.

hell, just to hear them play piano together!

If we are putting forward female voialists for Trents collaborations how about Nic Endo or even Amanda Palmer, now that the whole Ghosts/still thing works that would be tremendous

I agree wholeheartedly with the first bit.

Although I'm not sure if NIN+Bjork would really work. IDK, just seems like a really odd mix to me.

I'd rather Tori do her own thing and Trent likewise. They are both phenomenal artists and I'd rather their paths not cross.

The lyric is: "I guess you go too far when pianos try to be guitars."

There is speculation that Tori's song She's Your Cocaine is about Trent in many ways. And some other songs, too (a friend of mine is bent on the idea that Crazy is about him, too. I'm not so sure, but you never know. winking smiley).

I echo the person that mentioned that Trent said he would but that she wouldn't. I don't think things ended well with those two at all. Such a shame. Some great collaborations could have been made beyond Past The Mission.

I'd love to see it, but I know it's never going to happen.
Both of them are my favorite artists ever though. <3

No, that ship has sailed.

Am I the only person here that does not like Tori Amos what so ever? The music is so not my style. It's too girlie for me. And I had to change the channel every time she started grinding on the piano bench.

09/05/08 2:15 PM

Um...I don't know who she is but I'm not making any comment. I'm keeping my mouth shut on this one. No way do I want to get mixed up in this conversation. Trent has the fear of God in me and I don't want him to put me on blast as a lead conversation.

Bjork has been experimenting with sound as long as Trent has. Though she has taken it far beyond what is by convention, pleasing to the ear. Did you ever listen to Drawing Restraint 9? Holy hell. A short collaboration between them could yield some pretty crazy results.

as much as I love tori, she's been downhill since the chior girl hotel, and pretty much fallen off since scarlets walk (IMO).

I agree. I love her earlier stuff. But it seems to me that since she became a mom and fixed most of her life problems her music has gone downhill. I am in no way suggesting that she gets depressed and angry again.
