I dunno, I heard it was a pretty bad break up (not that I like to talk about Trent's personal life) but maybe it's for the best that their paths don't intersect, as someone already stated up there.

I don't like her either :p

I'm a pretty big fan, but her last two albums have been very lackluster. To deny her artistry and talent is pretty stupid whether you like her or not, though. I'd say the same thing to a Trent hater.

Tori Amos is pretty hit-and-miss for me. About a third of her stuff is really good and I really dig, another third is just ok, and the other third just annoys me to be frank. In my opinion her best album is Scarlet's Walk, that's probably the only one I can listen to from start to finish without skipping anything.

I don't think you've heard her first four albums. winking smiley

Just kidding. But what is your take on Pele? In my opinion, the only bad thing she's done is TBK and a song or two on ADP. I don't get the SLG hate.

And, to be on topic: what was said on KROQ to imply Trent and Tori did more than PTM together? I've never heard of such a thing. I'm sure it would have been posted all over the interwebs.

One of the things that I love about NIN is how it has matured and grown up as we and Trent have grown up and this could be another tangent or evolution of the music, ala Ghost I-V.

Thank You! The recent shows seem long way from the early days when he was throwing pizza at the crowd to get their attention.

I remember in TDS Trent said "annie, hold a little tighter." I could've sworn he was talking about Tori amos; annie and tori; both have read hair? but it was about her.

Nope.

I think it would be great, but agree with most, I think that chance has past....

That is a show I would have to see. I absolutely love both Trent and Tori's music.

09/23/08 2:52 AM

Love 'em both, love over-thinking the thematic parallels in their respective bodies of work . . . absolutely no desire to see them collaborate again. "That ship has sailed," indeed.

dude. tori and trent. that would be cool.

09/23/08 2:53 PM

My two favourite musicians! It would be so strange seeing them on-stage together. I don't think it will ever happen though. At least we got "Past the Mission"!

09/23/08 5:07 PM

Tori and Trent together would be awesome. Sadly, I don't think Tori would do it. They had quite a mysterious falling out back in the day. sad smiley

I always thought it would be interesting to see Trent do the whole alone at the piano type thing though. thumbs up

09/23/08 5:36 PM

Nope - would pass on Amos and never want to see or hear Bjork with Reznor.

Im on this bandwagon too, I loathe this bitch.

i remember reading about some girl getting trent AND tori to sign the past the mission single. trent laughed at it and warned the girl that tori wouldn't like it that much. and that was true. when she showed tori the PTM single signed by trent, tori got really pissed. she signed it and then left, i guess.

09/25/08 4:12 PM

I don't see that happening now, but Past The Mission is amazing, it would be truly interesting to see what more they could create together

Well you know that Pele supposedly is partially about Trent. winking smiley

I think the only verifiable thing that can be said is that pretty hate machine inspired tori, and that little earthquakes was in trents cd changer in the car for a long time.

personally, I think they were on a similar level back in the day... kinda a musical mother/father thing, or at least the notion of feminism vs masculinity.

but like someone said, there's the parrallels in their musical paths that make things the most interesting of all. I think the last of it was when the fragile was released the same day as to venus and back. both double albums, both digipak'd.

some people talk about how nin's starfuckers was a clear reference to manson. I wonder how much might have been aimed at tori's professional widow, which might have been a stab at courtney love.

but fuck, what do we know....

What happened is that over the years Trent has gotten saner and Tori has gotten crazier. Listen to this interview from last December.

Tori Amos on Sound Opinions

You're kidding yourself if you don't think they at least had a fling. Anybody who's heard Past The Mission could tell you the sensuality practically drips out of the speakers. And Tori is the only woman Trent has ever really collaborated with, even in the days of The Downward Spiral when most people thought he was just some angry, suicidal guy. That duet is so different than what he was doing at the time -"I smell the roses" - and yet he did it.

Listen to this interview Trent did. It's from 1995 I think. At about 1:25 he's asked about Tori. If the way he says "we hooked up and, uh...*gulp*" doesn't tell you at least something happened, then nothing will.

There's so many conspiracy theory related things I could point out right now. grinning smiley Like the similarities between the artwork for Pele, the video for The Perfect Drug, and the video for Spark. Or the similarities between Jackie's Strength and The Fragile. Or Big Man With A Gun and Me And A Gun. Starfuckers most likely got it's name from Professional Widow. Unless Trent also just happened to listen to that Rolling Stones song from the seventies and decide to use it to describe groupies a few years after Tori did. There's also the extreme lyrical similarities between Lights In The Sky and Amber Waves.

However, besides Starfuckers and BMWAG, all of the above is pure speculation. (I really believe BMWAG was inspired by MAAG. Watch the video above and you'll see what I mean.) I guess it's just fun to speculate.

I honestly can't think of any female singer I'd like to hear with Trent. Although I could imagine a powerful voice, a black woman's voice. We'll just have to wait and see.

Haha, I remember reading that too. Trent told the girl after he signed it to be sure to tell Tori it wasn't his idea.

I think they definitely had a little fling. I remember an interview I read once where Trent said Courtney Love had something to do with their "friendship" ending but that he still "felt the same feelings for Tori."

09/25/08 5:21 PM

That'd be fucking rad, and there's nothing anyone can say to change that O_O Damn.
