OK what I don't understand is NIN is openly organizing and archiving all of these pics and videos from the live shows. Most of the videos of which are crappy crappy ass cell phone friggin videos. And I was thrown out of the Ft. Wayne, IN show earlier this month for filming with Good Quality Equipment and on top of being thrown out my tape was taken. I don't get it, we are "Allowed" to share videos on here, but I'm not "Allowed" to make a video?

I just found out nin is playing Auckland, New Zealand in feb. then Australia.

Q: Are you allowed cameras/recorders into the show?

A: Official NIN policy is to allow consumer cameras at shows. This means small point-and-shoot cameras (both film and digital), and cell phone cameras. "Professional" cameras (i.e. SLR cameras, larger prosumer cameras) are not allowed. Video cameras are not allowed (although you can record video with your point-and-shoot digital camera or your cell phone). The problem with all of this is that sometimes individual venues decide on their own rules, or local security personnel does not know or care about the difference between a consumer and professional digital camera. Because of that, NIN can never guarantee that your camera, even if technically allowed, will make it into the venue. Your best bet is to contact the venue ahead of time and verify their specific policies and what kind of camera equipment they allow. NIN will do their best to communicate their camera policy to local security, but many times it is simply out of their hands.

Basically, to sum it up, check with the venue.

(Sorry my English is quite good, but no perfect)
Right this moment, here, on Santiago de Chile (while sun walking to it's end, 20ºc degrees... warm spring), R&P radio (similar to BBC Radio1 for us) is setting on air your perfomance on October 4th at Movistar Arena Santiago. Deeeeeep tankU for coming here, to this kind of end of the world. This is the first show that's going to be on air for Rock&Pop radio 16th aniversary, and was chosen due to it's remarkable importance for all audience.
Was hosted by Alfredo Lewin (maybe you know him as a ex Latin MTV vj), and he said things like "they came to put an end to lots of repressal hopes accumulated for years to see NIN here in Chile", or "I've never seen something so spectacular than that performance in general" (such a great thing!, considering his wide media career).
For a little laugh: the other voice, who gave the pre announcements between parts of the show said: "porque estamos juntos en esto, pronto volvemos con más NIN en Chile" which means "because we're in this toghether, coming back soon with more NIN in Chile"
Thank U again. You're a great band, excelent and very generous musicians.
Especially thanks for this twilight Trent, and for many other lyrics.
Hope to see you soon.
P.

Thanks, Trent! Looks fab! the finger smiley

TR: We disagree politically, and I will not try to covince you to see my political views. However, why do you present your views at your shows? You are a great muscian, entertainer, and write songs about emotions and thougts that are universal--hence, your mass appeal to ages 14 to 50 years of age.

But, when I see the political references in your Besides you in time concert video, and read about the Bush to McCain morph in your current show, which I have tickets to at Planet H. Wood, 12/13, I always think: Why must he do this, he has to know he is offending a good portion of his fans? Remember, as people grow older, they become republicans.

I stil like your music, and the issue is not so important to me to put my tickets on Ebay. See you Dec. 13 (I doubt you will see me) To quote a pretty sharp guy, on most subjects:

“On stage, it’s very easy to tell when you lose people’s attention,” Accordingly, always remember the music is what brings us to you, do not let unrelated issues drive us away.

Thanks,
DMB

Thanks very much for all the info. smiling smiley I'm a bit of an amateur (not very good) photographer with a very old, very basic (non-digital) Zenit SLR, and my daughter has a small digital camera. I was wondering what NIN's policy on cameras at gigs was, now I know. smiling smiley

Isn't CHINESE DEMOCRACY your fault because Axl was trying to do NIN music 10 years ago. The force is strong with you little one, be careful how you use it. I'm just happy you don't take a decade for an album anymore.

Forget Twilight or Chinese Geography or 808s and Consipates or whatever else you may be wasting your time on... we've added some kick-ass new features to nin.com that may or may not work properly, so head on in and get busy!Rob will now explain what we've done:Nin.com's new image and video galleries aggregate media from Flickr and YouTube, allowing nin.com users to share their NIN photos, videos, artwork, and other content, which can then be organized, rated, and discussed by other fans. Your nin.com profile can now display your image and video contributions, as well. You can browse individual galleries from every show of the 2008 tour, and soon we'll be adding past tours as well. The goal is to have the ultimate database of NIN images and videos right here on nin.com, created and organized by the fan community. The galleries are still in beta, but we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to start using them while we continue to enhance functionality, work out bugs, and add new features. Expect support for favorites, descriptions, comment ratings, view counts, personal galleries, feeds, and more in the coming weeks. Please read the FAQ for gallery rules and guidelines, as well as instructions for adding your media to the site.

Very cool! I'm guessing with the videos that show up as blank boxes with X's, it means it takes a day to show up? If not, I'll have to figure how to work the kinks out! I'm pretty sure I did it right though.

I love how interactive this site is, this is honestly the best music site/forum I've ever seen!

When does this usually happen? I ask because I just turned thirty, I'm in the US Army, and I'm still not even remotely close to becoming a Republican. Is there something wrong with me? Should I feel that I've been somehow short-changed by the Universe? Let down by some sort of partisan Deity? Can I blame Obama and Biden?

Yes...Thank you so much for the information! If I go to a NIN show (although my mum says when), I will bring my digital camera with me and take some cool photos.
But I will check with the venue beforehand, of course....Then I might see if I can post them on the fan photos section of this site.

By the way, my mum is Joan Cootes...

Is there any chance that this can be done with audio as well? My short story "The Apokalypsis Pentaptych" was just published online at Qarrtsiluni along with audio of me reading the story: http://qarrtsiluni.com/2008/12/02/the-apocalypsis-pentaptych/

The background music I used was "Corona Radiata" from The Slip. And it would be cool to add this to a NIN database as well.

I plan at least one more of these in the near future; my story "Most Excellent and Lamentable," originally published last year in Text:UR—The New Book of Masks, will undergo the audio treatment as well, accompanied by several tracks from Ghosts I-IV.
