The problem with all of this is that sometimes individual venues decide on their own rules, or local security personnel does not know or care about the difference between a consumer and professional digital camera. Because of that, NIN can never guarantee that your camera, even if technically allowed, will make it into the venue. Your best bet is to contact the venue ahead of time and verify their specific policies and what kind of camera equipment they allow. NIN will do their best to communicate their camera policy to local security, but many times it is simply out of their hands.

Basically, to sum it up, check with the venue.

Thanks very much for all the info. I'm a bit of an amateur (not very good) photographer with a very old, very basic (non-digital) Zenit SLR, and my daughter has a small digital camera. I was wondering what NIN's policy on cameras at gigs was, now I know.
