Trent, these shows were breathtaking and surreal and from what I've learned in the past, the most beautiful things in life can not be captured, but will always remain in our hearts.

With that said WTF does "The shows we have announced in 2009 and any more that may be announced will be a completely different approach with some different personnel and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future." mean? You have to clarify this "foreseeable future" bit, man!!!

Note to self: DON'T FUCKIN PANIC!

In all seriousness my friends, Nine Inch Nails always has been and always will be part of my life, no matter what happens in the "foreseeable future" and remember "NINE INCH NAILS IS TRENT REZNOR."

Trent you cant stop, I was at the concert in minneapolis and it was by far the coolest show i have ever seen you are a genius. Don't fret about the dvd. But if it is the end you sure did go out with a bang. THANKS!

"Different Personnel" is cool to read to the people who want Finck on GN'R.

This was the first NIN tour I had the good fortune to attend. I made it to four shows, with a decent amount of travel involved, and had amazing experiences on the barricade at two of them...and I am extremely saddened to think that it might be the last. But I understand (and hope others do as well) that touring is rough and stressful, and after doing it for many years, Trent has every right to take a break from it, or to decide he's done with it altogether.

Thank you, Trent and company, for these incredible performances. It is clear that you put a huge amount of work into this tour, and I feel privileged to have seen it. DVD or no DVD, I will remember it forever.

And if you happen to pass through the northeastern US again in 2009, I'll be there.

True. Put Rob on camera, we can live without updates!
even a 1-camera thing, cheaply and quickly done, would make us happy.
But you're a perfectionist. Nothing you'll ever do will be cheaply and quickly done, I know.

All of this.

Wow…I don’t know what to say. It sucks and I know that it is a huge disappointment to you, but we don’t need a DVD…like others have said. The concerts have and will be AWESOME. I am glad to say that I will have gotten to see it NINE times before this tour is over. Money well spent. I HOPE you continue to tour. I didn’t think that I could like NIN more than I did before, but I do. You put on ONE HELL of a concert and you are ONE HELL OF A GUY. The trips that we have taken to see the shows have been the highlight of the year and many years for that matter. Thanks for the KICKASS shows and we’ll see it again next in Nampa. I can honestly say I can’t wait, though I am dreading Las Vegas…last show for awhile and all. Though, you might see us in New Zealand! Thanks for everything!

Don’t be too hard on yourself! Everyone loves you and would give you a hug, if they could!grinning smiley

I know this is going to make me sound absolutely pathetic, but I am currently finding myself doing all that I can to hold back from crying. Of course I completely understand that a break needs to happen. But on the other hand, considering his choice of words, I am questioning if there ever will be another tour again. I just can't see this as the end. I refuse to believe it.

I'd also like to say now that I'll support you no matter what your decision may be, Trent. But if this is the end, it is going to sting just a little bit to say the least.

12/03/08 8:55 PM

I sincerely don't think Trent is not going to tour past 2009. Take a nice break? Yeah, very likely. He said "final NIN tour on this scale", either as in arena with big crazy light show, or just arena. Otherwise, there are smaller things like clubs, which he would sell out every single time, and Trent knows this.

12/03/08 7:56 PM

What you thought would always last, has passed you by.

NINE INCH NAILS IS NOT QUITTING OR BREAKING UP
OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT THIS IS NOT THE END OF NIN

This is just the last tour for awhile & the the plans for a DVD have been shat on by the old record company.
"Curtain Call" sounds pretty final to me.

I think he means tourwise as I'm sure he was hoping this tour would last A LOT longer

The shows we have announced in 2009 and any more that may be announced will be a completely different approach with some different personnel and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future.

I see nothing in here that says 'So that's it. I'm quitting music & going to go live in my mansion with Funyuns and what not. This piggy has marched his last march."

it's Trent Reznor. I doubt he would let a blow, brutal as it may be,from his old record company completely turn him away from music.

12/03/08 7:56 PM

in 10 years they will play on the roof of nothing records the finger smiley

out of the blue and disheartening, but he didnt say he was going to quit music.

Man, I have a lump in my throat. I felt like shit today and then I saw this...

Trent you are an amazing musician and you are a constant inspiration in my own songwriting. Your music has sometimes been the only thing I've been able to relate and has helped me like nothing else the last few months.

I sincerely hope that even if you don't tour you keep on making music. It keeps me sane!

12/03/08 7:58 PM

For a thing that comes in spurts of about 5 years or so, I would say we've all had it pretty good for the last few years. The thing has been at it's most productive (probably in a hurry up offensive kinda situation because of the age thing, but don't worry...I'm the same age and I'm still running around trying to get shit out and down before my big Comedown). I'm sure that Mr T will be bounding back as the mind won't lay down and the feel for things will come back to haunt us all and then we'll be drowned in it...What a way to Go!

Guys, Trent is an artist - he will create for a long time yet.

I think many of us are just being overly dramatic. Trent said "on this scale" meaning there will be future tours, but just not of this size. Face it, it costs a LOT of money to tour and most tours lose money. It's a sad fact.

Most of my fav artists who had huge scale tours in the 80's and 90's have now "scaled down" too. It doesn't mean that it's all over.

Trent is obviously feeling very upset now and he's never been light with words so I think the harshness of it all is leaving things up for the wrong interpretation.

I am very upset to learn that there won't be a DVD. It truly is a shock. If there was ANY show to be captured by any band I've seen in the past 10 years - it's this tour.

Hell, I loved the first shows I saw so much I thought nothing of hopping on a plane and flying across the country to see some more. And then after those, I thought nothing of driving 14 hours in 2 days to see some more. Yes - the tour is THAT good.

Anyways, I'm sure the storm will pass and we will once again be chatting about new NIN projects - or hopefully an alternative to the 3D project.

Tara

Yep, we've been spoiled to death with these shows for the last 3 years and a lot of us probably took what he's given us for granted.

vvv Oh shut up before you get me banned from this board. I'm already in a shitty mood.

Heh I'm just trying to remain optimistic. I could be wrong but bloody hell i don't wanna be wrong lol

I just think TR isn't done yet. When he goes out it won't be because of his old label.

this is depressing, kind of ruined my night..
think im going to bed.

12/03/08 7:59 PM

thank you Trent for everything,

I know the guy needs and deserves a nice long break.

NIN is not done, I dont think Trent will ever be done making music. and after all that we have gotten, we can wait for the "foreseeable future" to pass and NIN to take on a new life form.

Im just glad i was a part of this amazing experience

I want Robin to stay where he is right now. Come on! NIN, then Cirque du Soleil, then NIN again... how could he go back to GNR.. that would be pathetically sad.

but let's stay focused. Trent will overcome the bad times he seems to be living. I have faith.

I want Robin to stay too and from what I've heard Robin telling someone directly, he is staying for 2009. Unless some bomb was dropped on Trent as of late. But I don't believe that.
