Dearest Trent and Co.,

Without getting too emotional, I would like to make my perspective as an enthusiastic fan and Nine Inch Nails disciple known to you and your panel of experts.

If the footage from your tour advertisement is any indication of what can be done or has already been done without 3d, please keep filming and consider one copy sold. I don't need a theatrical release and I don't need 3D. The footage looks compelling enough and a document of this tour is in great demand by your fans.

I will gladly pay the same ticket price for smaller shows. I will even pay double for smaller shows with a comparable level of presentation and craftsmanship as your LITS tour.

You may not have big label backing, but I am confident that if you call, you have me and thousands of fans just like me in numerous fields of art, music, technology, ect. that will do more than just support your work through the purchase of CDs, merchandise, and tickets. You have a constituency that will do whatever we can to help you in good faith that we can be of service to you.

You have made an unforgettable mark that I will continue to strive for as a musician who takes the stage in order to present my craft to people willing to watch and listen.

I cannot speak for anyone else but I doubt that I am alone in expressing my everlasting gratitude for the body of work you have laid before us.

Thank you.

This tour was probably the best show of the past few years, not just 2008.

Thank you Trent & crew for putting so much time & effort into making your shows a total experience, not just some guys making noise. I brought non-NIN fans to a couple of shows & they were blown away! They didn't know the songs, but still enjoyed the show & all the lighting effects. Some even went to more than one show with me. It amazes me how hard NIN works for their fans. People call me a "NIN addict" and I just reply "hell yeah I am! They're awesome!" Trent, it's awesome that you do so much for your fans & I appreciate every bit of it. THANK YOU!

As for no more tours in the forseeable future, that totally sucks. I am very glad that I've seen this recent tour 5 times & that I decided at the last minute to go see the Vegas show. Vegas will be a memorable show, but hopefully it won't be my 13th and final show ever. Nothing makes me as happy as seeing that NIN is touring in the USA. The overwhelming joy that I experience is indescribable.

THANK YOU TRENT. THANK YOU NIN BAND MEMBERS & CREW FOR AN AMAZING 2008 TOUR!!!

Is everyone that sad? =X I don't think that the shows will end, I honestly just think he'll take a break, which I think he deserves since he hasn't stopped much for a while! Camon guys, TR wouldn't leave us hagging like that...!

And ok, I hope this is not a translation problem, but "forseable future" isn't something like "near future"? honestly, help me out here, becaused if I should be freaking out, someone please just tell me so and I will O_O

12/04/08 1:50 AM

This isn't the kinda news I wanna wake up to =(

It's sounding like I'm not gonna see NIN live again, and I've never had the chance to see the full-on spectacle shows of recent times being in the UK (we only have shitty venues over here that can't seem to cope with technology...) but shit happens. Trent, thanks for everything you've done; your shows I have seen, I'll probably never forget, and those that I haven't, I'm living reciprocally through the lovely people on here!

Anyway, hugs, prayers and kisses, and a million thank yous!
xxx

Holy damn Trent, you and James fucking Cameron having discussions about filming shows, unreal man, truly unreal. This is just as good as you collaborating with one of my favorite filmmakers David Fincher. Truly badass.

Sooo bummed out that I could have sat in a movie theater watching a 3D NIN show on the big screen. But I do look very much forward to the inevitable DVD release for Light in the Sky. Gonna be incredible.

And yes, your shows were revolutionary, mind-blowing, & beautiful. All the more respect to you and your team.

Hope to God, we will be seeing you around again soon, very soon, or else I'm gonna have to travel to another continent to see you guys again.

Keep the GREAT work up Trent & Company.

Much Love!

Whaaaaaaat? You won't come to Europe? sad smiley I only managed to be at your 2 shows. So lucky I was then. Still, it feels so sad :/

I wanted so badly to be at a show next year. No one will replace NIN. I hope this forseeable future is very short tongue sticking out smiley When I met NIN, it was a time that it could be close to the end, and I let that thought free. and now, when I experienced 2 live shows, I really feel like I need more. WTF

12/04/08 2:08 AM

Thank you and feel very privilaged to see the tour again. Please make no decisions comming off a tour about touring. Take some time off and then rejouvonate yorself and you might feel differently about any other tours.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TRENT AND EVERYBODY WHO STUCK THROUGH TO PUT ON THE BEST SHOW IN THE WORLD FOR YOUR FANS WHO WILL ALWAYS BE BEHIND YOU!

12/04/08 2:09 AM

fucking interscope. pack of fucking snakes and moneywhores. they won't let trent use his own fucking songs, yet they're happy to shit out a crappy 'best of...' or 'greatest hits' release instead. the cunts. i can't wait to finally see interscope crumbling in it's own shitstained ruins.

fuck 'em, he should just let rob take a few weeks off to edit the footage they already have, and chuck it up online - but only the songs they won't let him use - just to spite the assholes. then he can just take his time and create whatever he wishes with all his 'post-asshole-control' songs.

at least he's got his anger back i guess. he might just go and write some more songs for a while rather than touring and touring all the time. the fucker needs a break anyway, he's been doing this shit non-stop for years now. he'll be back when he's ready.

The best concert that I've ever been to, and I've had the pleasure of going 3 times and will never forget them. On another note I feel fairly confident in saying that Trent's had this planned from the beginning. With Ghosts so closely followed by the release of the slip, and the fact that the Slip was FREE, " this ones on me" thats what he said. It wouldn't surprise at all if he's had this in the works for awhile. Nevertheless I will cry the day NIN is officially done. But does that mean the end for Trent's music? I think not. Its too much a part of him for him to drop it completely.

trent and nin crew, be sure you've done the perfect tour, im sad to hear that you may not come to europe, i can say that fans here are very impressed ( and jealous) with the this you are doing in this tour. we appreciate your efforts, any help you need just ask smiling smiley, you kow you have a great army of fans and friends all around the world.

ps: a Proposal: i have a big chamber at madrid where i play with my band, its not what you are used to, but what about saving some money and do a concert like the first ones?? hahaha, i just want to see and hear you live again.

(Okay, No more fighting my self about this. I'm posting.)

The Light In The Sky is/was Amazing and Original. I'm very glad i was able to witness it, and I'm sure all others who did know how ...(lack of better words) Fucking godly it was.
Fuck Anyone who DARES to to argue that.
Having Caught it on a recording would have been awesome and Immortalized It.
But you know what?, We dont need it. Maybe its even more precious now, We just cant forget.
"Yeah, You know that fucking NIN Tour, when they had all that awesome equipment and the visual effects?,Dude."
"Yeah, i was THERE."

If anything, Its something that Can Be Marked In Trent's and the NIN teams Personal accomplishments checklists.

And, Not To sound insulting. But I really Hope No one gets Concerned over Not having any other show Now rank up to the others.(Performers AND Fans)
Trent, All other shows can and will be just as Spinetinglingly awesome, All the energy...it flows right through.
You could have a Performance in a pitch black room; and they would still be rocking their asses off, I would still cry.
You can just feel the...something. The seriousness of it all. & The Hidden connection of all the people. 'Long as there are lyrics, as long as there is bass, and creative genius, and the will. No Fucking Show will be less worth it.

I Feel extremely Lucky and grateful for have had the chance to See Nails During Lights In The Sky.

Just, let me See you guys one more time, Okay?

Thanks To all the People who Contributed the the wicked tour.
And The Finger to all who jacked it up.

Thank you Reznor, For trying, for Not stopping, and For the music that has Penetrated me into eternity.
I, Like everyone else. Cant wait to see what will come next, And will Hold all memorys indiscriminately.

<3 Everyone,
~LFY

"the shows we have announced in 2009 and any more that may be announced will be a completely different approach"

There we go, that's the usual... Big shows in Canada and the US, then they return to the "old world" with a stripped-down set. Guess current shows' awesome production doesn't fit into a plane (ship???) to Europe?

But well, we are used to suffering when it comes to NIN shows. And it doesn't matter, just drop by, with any production... we will love it anyways ;-)

Awwww, you're pissed Trent... I can feel it, very understandable too. However, thanks for trying and I'm really sorry for you that you still have to be limited by others who don't give a shit. *gives a big big hug*.
Now I'm getting nervous. "Any more shows that may be announced", what does that mean? Cannnnnn't wait to knowsmiling bouncing smiley. Sounds good to me and although I was really curious to see the show I've been reading so much about, a little part of me is also a bit excited because maybe you'll come to Europe and maybe you will do smaller venues which I like a lot better than huge ones. On the other hand, it's only fair that you need to rest and whatever will be good for you, your life, your sanity, your happiness and your creativity as well as the well-being and evolution of the band will also rejoice me. As fans, we've been spoiled in these last few years, not to mention during your whole career so far, thank you, so much. Now enjoy the next shows and take good care of yourselves, guys. *goes back to freaking out and praying NIN will come to Europe*

Well I did hear that the show requires around 40 tons of rigging and lighting, of course that stuff would be available in europe as well. But as Trent says in this wired article

"When asked about his future plans for touring, after the Lights in the Sky wraps up, Reznor says the next series of shows may be a different beast altogether.

"Next time might just be white lights in a club and it's about the music," he says. "Because I'll be broke and that's all I'll have." "

(from: [www.wired.com])

also I cant agree with you that the states get awesome gigs and europe doesnt. last years nin concerts where awesome!

12/04/08 3:07 AM

Okay. Let`s be honest. If Trent calls it quits, as i understood, i mean touring, this could turn out to be one of the worst months of my teenage life, so i hope he`s just pissed as usual and so on, but i hope he changes his mind. Unless he`s thinking of starting a family and, well, you know, the whole nine yards.

12/04/08 3:29 AM

Pitty someone didnt tell TR that there is a whole world outside of the Americas!

12/04/08 3:32 AM

Trent Reznor, you're my absolute musical hero, I'm relatively devastated you won't be having another tour of the same scale as LITS. I really hope you're going to tour again, if you stop the touring or recording, the world of popular music will become the dullest thing in existence. Just a few more years of NIN, that's all I ask!!

12/04/08 3:32 AM

it's funny so many people thinking its the end of everything nin. it just seems to me that interscope managed to fuck him yet again, he's running out of money to put on this massive show, creating a cinematic 3D version of the tour would also be one hell of a task to pay for and execute, and he's probably just sick of the fucking tourbus as well smiling smiley

i think his crew could put together footage from a few shows in the same vein of AATCHB, which is still my favourite of his live releases anyway, and still manage to capture the show for all those who won't get to see it in person.

i don't think he's ending anything but the show itself. time out. holiday. write some more. release something and start up that new show in a few years time when he has more music that doesn't tie him to the assholes of yesteryear.
