We'll certainly be watching from the wings.

Dearest Trent and Co.,

Without getting too emotional, I would like to make my perspective as an enthusiastic fan and Nine Inch Nails disciple known to you and your panel of experts.

If the footage from your tour advertisement is any indication of what can be done or has already been done without 3d, please keep filming and consider one copy sold. I don't need a theatrical release and I don't need 3D. The footage looks compelling enough and a document of this tour is in great demand by your fans.

I will gladly pay the same ticket price for smaller shows. I will even pay double for smaller shows with a comparable level of presentation and craftsmanship as your LITS tour.

You may not have big label backing, but I am confident that if you call, you have me and thousands of fans just like me in numerous fields of art, music, technology, ect. that will do more than just support your work through the purchase of CDs, merchandise, and tickets. You have a constituency that will do whatever we can to help you in good faith that we can be of service to you.

You have made an unforgettable mark that I will continue to strive for as a musician who takes the stage in order to present my craft to people willing to watch and listen.

I cannot speak for anyone else but I doubt that I am alone in expressing my everlasting gratitude for the body of work you have laid before us.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
-Adam Marcus Batley a.k.a. The Viirus

Dear Trent,

Your fans are fucking crazy. They have the same level of retention as a diaper made of paper towel. I'm not sure which is more disheartening, the hoped for 3D DVD that isn't possible at this time, or the fact that the 89/100 rabid fans have no idea what in fuck you are trying to say.

May the mother fucking force be with you.

xoxo

the way he made it sound, he could be calling it quits with nine inch nails. i hope it doesn't really come to that, but it's sounding like it.

"The shows we have announced in 2009 and any more that may be announced will be a completely different approach with some different personnel and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future."

that was some news i didn't want to hear.

i'm sorry that things aren't going the way you wanted them to, trent. thank you so much for the incredible show in minneapolis!

Well, shit!! This news will ruin your day. Been a fan since 1989 and will always continue to support NIN. Got to say, over the years, I have been to at least 15 shows in Houston and the surrounding areas. This show ranks at the top of the list. As always, you give us an awesome setlist, raw emotion, crazy energy, and an unforgettable memory. Thank you for all you do. If it means anything, Houston will not let you down in 2009 if we are worthy.

12/04/08 12:43 AM

I Really enjoyed the show you did in Saskatoon And i Really hope you come back!!!

12/04/08 12:45 AM

oh dear this saddens me to the very depths of my soul. I cannot fathom the end. please do not make that come for us. we as fans look forward to nothing more than your gift that you give to all of us. we love you, we treasure you, you inspire us, you breathe life into our very souls. I would hate to feel that powerful emotion taken away. you are every fucking thing and just a little more Trent.

I think this thread might be the definition of an overreaction

^ ...and confusion

I've been lucky enough to catch 3 shows on this tour including New Orleans which I will never forget. The city is amazing and seeing you there made it even better. I'm sorry to hear about your plans falling through. Its frustrating when your creative vision hinges on the whims of visionless assholes. My dreams started the first time I saw you live. I wouldn't be doing what I do if it wasn't for you. Thank-you, more than you will ever know.
See you in Portland,
Take care.

Trent needs a break. He has spoiled us. Let him have his break. He has FUCKING EARNED IT!

Regarding future touring:
I agree with many of you. I think whenever he decides to tour again, he should do a club tour. More intimate. One of the best shows I've seen was Feist and all she used was a few lights and a fucking overhead-projector like they used in elementary school. Well done. As well as Beck's former show, using puppets. We all know that NIN is much bigger than puppet usage, but do something new, simple, yet innovative. That's how Beck and Feist won me over.

12/04/08 1:07 AM

I say that old tricks are the best tricks. They should take the remaining dates film them all with various handi cams and do another And All That Could Have Been.

But, I'm happy to say I got to experience it first hand in Salt Lake City and will be seeing it again in Las Vegas.

Kudos to the entire team who put this brilliant tour together, it was an experience I'll never forget.

12/04/08 1:09 AM

Everyone just breathe. He ain't quitting, the tours just over. Give the man a break.

12/04/08 1:09 AM

Trent remember "big titties"!! & I am also holding you to what you said at the Bluffs concert in Iowa; the next tour will be in Iowa(that is when you tour again)confused smiley.
Best of luck in all that you do!!

12/04/08 1:13 AM

Yeah Trent, never forget:

BIG. ASS. TITTIES.

12/04/08 1:13 AM

My only request is: Never stop making music.

Guys maybe Trent is gonna go Beatles style & just put out albums/videos instead of touring & then do his final show on a rooftop.

Next album: Rubber Piggy

Trent, no matter what you do it will be the right decision, though id hate to see you guys stop playin. I have more respect for you then any other musician on this planet. I was meant to see your knoxville show but family stuff came up so i couldnt, then I heard about your Nashville(halloween) show and jumped on that show. Ive seen tons of concerts, but YOUR SHOW WAS THE BEST IVE EVER SEEN. You have inspired me not only as a musician but as a person. One of the only few who see the real world. You know your in an authoritative position and a position where could get anything you want. Yet your music reflex your feelings on finding your place in the ever changeing world. In my opinion there is no purer form of art. Do what you have to do. It would be great to see you continue playing music, but selfish of us as fans to keep you from moving forward with your life. Because your life exeriences ultamitley are what we enjoy listening too and relating too.

Thanks
Sean

I am tearful and sad, but I wish Trent the best. Always. I'm especially sad that the Vegas show is the only show I'm getting to see on this tour. I've never been able to travel out of town to see NIN, so I've only ever seen them when they came through here, and so I've onoly seen them a grand total of 3 times (this will be my 4th). I'm happy though that I got to meet Trent before the last show I saw!

*hugs*

I will probably be hated for this, but:

I didn't read the entire thread. I know, I know. But I'm super duper busy.

I'm really sad that this is happening, cause I don't like to know TR (or anyone, really) is upset and frustrated over this kind of shit.

What I don't get is...what does the record label thing have to do with the 2009 tours? Weren't those going to have a different crew, etc. anyways? I figure the DVD thing is the record label's fault for not getting back to Trent in time. But the rest of the dates, etc...why are those going to change? Why is the format of the show changing?

Thanks for reading and, perhaps, replying.

I don't think it's a record label thing at all for the tour, he just wants to switch up the show and do something different for the 2009 dates.

12/04/08 2:31 AM

Oh ok. I just was trying to figure out how the record label fit into it.

I guess TR's mostly bummed about the DVD. But shit, one person can't do EVERYTHING. He gives us so much.

Ok, gracias. And thanks for not getting mad or acting like Dr. House. LOL.

12/04/08 1:34 AM

Trent, thank you so much for your tour. it was my first NIN concert i had been to, in council bluffs, iowa. AMAZING. You even made eye contact with me during Closer. Your music has changed my life, and helped through some shitty-ass times. Im saddened to hear this, and i know it was hard for you to type. We all can just imagine how badass the DVD would have been. Come back to Iowa in '09, and there will be all the big titties you can handle trent. Those at the show know what im talkin about..

We love you Trent!

lmao! No problem.

He does give us so much. We're spoiled. I hope Trent doesn't take the DVD/Blu-Ray thing too hard, even though it is a huge disappointment. It's not his fault, and he tried his hardest.

Im glad to know that you stated you won't be doing tours on this "scale", so that means you still may tour but on a smaller scale possibly, that would be interesting!Love your music, you know, listen to it all the time. Seeing NIN on tour "With Teeth" and this last tour, "Lights in the Sky" has been absolutely great, one of lifes all time highs. I'm glad I will be in Vegas for the last of this grand tour, will definitely appreciate it!

I've said the same thing on the forum and i'll say it here... As a UK fan who was waiting/hoping to see the Lights Tour I am majorly disappointed by this news. We have had the intimate venue tours the past two times NIN came and I (and many others) were desperately hoping to see the full scale show in an arena setting and now this news... Well very sad, very pissed off, uncertain whether there will be a UK tour in 2009!!?? Uncertain whether there will even be a NIN!!! Not much else to say really! sad smiley

12/04/08 2:38 AM

Monica - I agree with you that I'm happy he may still tour, but on a smaller scale. Actually, I love to see NIN on a smaller scale. It's frustrating of getting close-to-killed just to be somewhat close to the band.

Of course, I say that now, but I'd never choose anything but pit tickets. LOL.
