ps. The Slip is brilliant.

Oh, brother.

Do you just want Trent to tour endlessly while making 45 minute albums for the rest of his life? The man has been touring since mid-2005 with only month-long stops... He's talking about taking a break from touring, a break that to his former standards should've happened a long time ago. The news he broke to us was all about DVD/production/touring, NOT about Nine Inch Nails ending...

I personally am all for him taking a nice break (1-2 years), and then get back in light with a nice, long, fleshed-out masterpiece (that isn't Year Zero pt.2). Who here wouldn't want that?

ok thats a good outlook on it. Break is fine and well deserved, stopping all together is what worries me. We all know that break will be 4-5 years.lol

I honestly don't think that is a part of Trent's nature now (the whole waiting 5 years to emerge thing). Even if that happened to be the case again, though, I'm sure it'd weigh itself out with incredible quality music at the end of the long tunnel...a la The Fragile, or With Teeth even (yes, that's also a masterpiece).

On that note, WHY is With Teeth so hated upon? It has All The Love In The World, The Line Begins To Blur, Beside You In Time, Sunspots, Right Where It Belongs, Only, You Know What You Are, With Teeth, hell pretty much the whole thing rules. Yet I see so much WT bashing. confused smiley

Haha, the show is already over. But yeah, hopefully something great happened tonight, as in--capturing a great show kind of great. Hopefully, the lack of photo updates on the main page meant that NIN camp themselves were also up to some good ol' fashion filming.

It just is...although I've personally also seen a rising love for it (a common pattern once an album has a successor, I think).

See, each NIN album takes a turn into a new direction; whether people realized it or not, it happened even before With Teeth. That album was just way opposite of what NIN stood for in the first place (musically), but it's still fabulous Trent Reznor-made music. That's the bottom line. Trent's still speaking from the depths of his heart in that album, while the music matches so well. It's not trying too hard, it merely carries out the message of where he was at the time, just as well as his lyrics do. If you had a lot (more) of electronics in some of those songs (not that they're all completely electronicless--obviously not), people who only care to judge that album on the surface wouldn't be able to take jabs at how it sounds like a simple rock album, or some other BS that it is often referred to as.

I saw NIN 10 times in London between 2005 & 2007 and although we didn't get the big light shows etc, it didn't matter. The shows were awesome and the opening bands were fantastic. (NIN and Saul Williams on the same night - that's got to be a good show!) Some of us got Meet & Greets & priority entrance to the shows. We even got tea, sandwiches & cakes, compliments of NIN, while we listened to Year Zero before it's official release! We've had free downloads, games, video footage, audio files for remixing, photos etc. Trent has been so interactive and it's been fascinating. My music collection wouldn't be half as good if it didn't include NIN + all the other music Trent has introduced by recommendation.

Anyone who cares about modern music, has to acknowledge Trent's contribution. What's encouraging is that NIN continues to attract new audiences, including fans from as young as 13 to those in their 60's. I believe the music world will always include the TR factor and it would be nice to think he'll always keep in touch, to let us know how he's doing.

Trent, we all love you. It's a major bummer that the filming didn't work out, but this was HANDS DOWN the best tour ever! Thank you for everything you do. You are an inspiration to us all.

Can it be that we've gotten all the crazy out? Has everyone taken their meds? Or maybe read through The Post one more time?

Phew.

Unbelievable! I hope that's not true! I might be the only fan whose actually NEVER seen a NIN show, and now I never will! I swear I must be jinxed: I've been attempting to see you live since high school, but something's ALWAYS gotten in the way! C'mon, 20 years isn't enough; you have to keep this up well into your 50's! I had plans to see the Portland show this Sunday, but cancelled due to some family issues. That made me ache! I was going to drive all the way there from St. Louis! Dammit, dammit, dammit! There aren't very many artists for whom I'd have gone out of my way, but you Mr. Reznor, would've been worth it! Sabrena

wow... don't be so selfish? i mean, i know you really want to see them but give Trent a fucking break. 20 years for NIN is a lot more than most bands ever had.

Sorry. I had a brain fart. They're 3 timezones away from me.

Still, once again, the fact that they haven't updated nin.com yet with a show image is worth noting. Rob could be a busy man working other cameras... winking smiley

I just wanted Trent to know, provided he reads this board at all, that I am eternally grateful to have been given the chance to see him and his band live up here in Saskatchewan. I had been waiting many long years to finally see him in concert. I'm upset that I waited because all I can think about now is when I'll get to again. Apparently not in the forseeable future. I'm almost wanting to drive to MT for the show on the 9th, but can't due to school. I can understand the break that's needed Mr. Reznor, and self-care is under appreciated by most people. Just remember that we'll all be waiting for you and we always appreciate the amount of effort you put into elevating your live show above everyone else's.

To NIN and all of it's crew involved on this tour my very sincerest Thank You.

I have to admit over the years I have lost touch with many things one being the music of NIN. I was fortunate enough to see the Manchester N.H. show in November, which at first I was reluctant to go to. In retrospect, having made the right decision by going, I would have never forgiven myself if I had missed this show. I took someone very important to me to the show, who is going through a horrible divorce and she had the time of her life. She went from rock bottom to top of the world within 5 minutes of you guys being on stage. Thank You.

I spent a good amount of time and money getting to know NIN again and I must say very impressive in every aspect. You have done an unbelievable job in bringing a "community" of fans together.

One thing the music of NIN has done for me is help me feel as if I belong to something, which might not seem like much to some, but it is important to me.

Take all the time you need, we'll be here.

The best has yet to come. I know it.

Is there a reason that the temperature has to be that in particular, or is that just for pleasures sake?

Just curious because I too think that I would have to stick some sort of utensil in my eye. Perhaps a spork, idk I haven't really decided yet, but that's half the fun right?

LMFAO

I believe it slices through the eye better when its warm

Like it melts and slices at the same time... I've decided then, I want to stick a laser butter knife in my eye, kind of like a light saber but much smaller, and you can butter your toast with it grinning smiley
