Ok, here goes:
What is it you don't like?
To me it feels like the sound is stripped down a lot, but the meaning isn't.
Besides, this DVD is going to kick the shit out of everything, so chill your boots, dude.
EDIT: crap, just saw you trying to get out the door!
First off, I'm starting to hate F5
The stuff I dont like bout The Slip? It's too commercial, too pretentious, too polished--"Discipline" ends fading out. Like The fragile is a whole uninterrupted ride from the beginning to the end; with The Slip I find myself skipping tracks tryin to find "the catchiest one", like when you buy a cd because of just one song you heard in the radio. It totally kills the experience for me n it's disappointing because I'd never expect this from a
"Nine Inch Nails" record. I might as well download just the tracks that I find catchy thru limewire or youtube, as opposed to listening to the whole piece n enjoying it as a whole.
I dont hate you, I dont hate NIN. I do hate The Slip. Bye now

I just wanted to comment on that, if that's ok. *steps into pit*
First, The Slip is DL here...but someone pointed that out.
Second, The Slip was recorded in what was it folks...like three weeks or a little more? The Fragile...like two to three years. I leave it to you all who know the time scales. The info is out there, he's stated it in interviews.
I don't find, and this is my opinion, the Slip polished or commercial, but I don't find it a rough jumble either. I think its a good work when listened from front to back. As for being commercial...I don't see it. I actually see Echoplex (which I love) abd Discipline as raw and stripped down to the basics...then it explodes.
As for it being commercial. I don't see it. Once again that's my opinion

. Believe it or not, The Four of Us Are Dying is my fav track on The Slip and god knows what radio station will play that?
I think every NIN album has a journey of sorts and Trent has stated before that he would rather have his work listened to from beginning to end, instead of fragmented to comprehend the whole work. Taking the journey is the fun part, understanding it is the reward...
