I was off the site for almost two weeks, so I completely missed this until now. This announcement reminded me that two or three years ago I read an interview where he said he wouldn't want to be touring for a lot longer, not being on tour in his 50s and all.
Wonder what will happen after 2009. I hope that there will still be some tours in the future, like anyone else here. Though it doesn't seem that he's retiring from music entirely, just touring. And whatever he does turn his attentions to, I am sure that it will be amazing. I regret that I've only recently begun to really get into going to live performances of any band, and that while I've been listening to NIN for years now, hadn't gone too deeply into it until about a year ago. However, I can't complain, b/c the one live show that I did get to see was the AC House of Blues show on this tour, which was an amazing performance. Not the lights show of the rest of the tour, but incredible anyway, and that I got to experience that just once will be something I'll always remember. And hopefully there will be tour dates in 09 that I can make it to.
It's pretty messed up with what happened with the record label. That would have been an amazing project, had it come to fruition.

if this can help someone else i hope it does.

im from mexico and i went to a local store named mixup and found the physical form of the slip, i went nuts and bought it yesterday, and it was great, i now can say im one of the 250,000 fans that own the slip, that's the good part.

the bad one is when i opened it i saw that it was not in the best shape, and it looked somehow "used", its ok i can live with that, but i read at ninwiki.com that the slip package includes stickers and that's when i get very mad, because i didnt get any sticker whatsoever, you can understand how i feel about it, also im not sure if the pricing is right or they just take advantage of it, it was around $37 (american dollars), hopefully someone can see this and can do something about it, so next time a fan doesnt get riped-off by "clever" cd shops.

Dammit, the concerts cost more then other bands but are worth every penny. The Nothing label C.D.'s cost just as much as any other C.D. Sounds like you got a bum deal, sorry.

Trent said we MAY get a holiday gift. Im not trying to get too excited. It might not happen.

Hey all this is my first post. I just wanted to say upfront that I've only been a fan of NIN since 2004 when I really started listening but I've been hooked ever since. NIN changed my life when I began listening to the Downward Spiral and The Fragile. Year Zero encouraged me to expand my worldview of politics and art. I've been amazed at the work Trent has produced and distributed this year. Thank you so much.

Curtain Call leaves me with a pit in my stomach. I've never had the opportunity to see NIN live as many here have and it makes me feel similar to how I felt... and this is lame... when everyone's favorite character was killed off at the end of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

I want to see NIN live so very desperately, it hurts.

I understand the man needs a break but if he...fuck it... Trent, if you never tour again I'm going to have to scratch "see a NIN show" off my list of things to do before I die.

So please, rest up, take a year or two if needed, but from the depths of my soul I hope someday to have you blow my mind with your live audible jams.

sincerely,
Daniel

Dude, I for one am freaking out now. Is NIN over? Might you just be taking a break? I really don't know anymore. I'm confused.
TR, put us out of our misery and please tell us, what's going on?

..NIN doesnt end. NIN doesnt get over. NIN lives forever. Of course its a break, he earned it. if the shows end that doesnt mean Trent's music stops. everyone just needs to think. and calm down and read.

true dat. remember the "we've been busy doing secret things..." message. give it a month, and GHOSTS in multiple formats, streams etc. hit the site outta nowhere.

something's afoot - either a new release of some kind, more music or a visual version of the tour, or they're getting their new polka/bluegrass renditions of a special TDS performance down to perfection to aid the starving peoples of wherever.

time will always tell...

I gotta say that I am beginning to think it is new music. Initially, I would have said no way, but now I am convinced that it is. I don't think he would be "teasing" us all like this for something stupid.

I have a gut feeling that they are maybe whipping up something new to play on this "stripped down" tour.

01/03/09 4:44 PM

Enough talk about a possible "gift" from Trent. The key word in his last news posting was "may," as in he may OR MAY NOT have a "gift" for the fans.
