Does anybody here Watch the Show Dexter? If so, have you watched the most recent season, season 5?

Well I was just listening to the song The Fragile, and honestly if The Fragile hadn't come out basically 10 years before Season 5 of Dexter, I would have thought Trent wrote the song about this season. It honestly sounds based off the show.

Especially the Lines "If I could fix myself I'd - but its too late for me" and "Before everything else, I was like you"

I don't want to explicitly say anything about the show in case someone wants to watch or hasn't seen it yet, but the parallels are uncanny.

But yeah, if you don't watch Dexter, go start watching right now, I can see it easily being up any Nine Inch Nails Fan's ally, and if you have seen season 5, be thinking about it while you listen to The Fragile, you'll see what I mean.
The human brain can find parallels between anything. Here's an example: take any album, preferably one with lots of lyrics (prog rock albums are good for this), and run it alongside any random film in your collection. It will synch up with loads of events.

Whilst it's possible parts of the staff are NIN fans, this is just your brain making assumptions about things. If they wanted to give a hat tip to NIN, they would do what Fringe does and just play the songs.

It's weird. With Teeth was always my least favourite album. Half of it was amazing, half of it was just okay or pretty good by Trent's standards. But after about 2 years of first hearing it, it's really started to grow on me as awhole. Especially Only, at first I didn't think much of it at all but I now I fucking love it. It sounds extremely pretentious but I don't care. When you listen to Trent's music your habits of what you like more or less really changes. Also I'm still hearing new things or experiencing new interpretations of his music.
Yeah, there are many moments when you just feel how he lets the music flow, and many songs end too soon when you think real cool stuff just begins. Though maybe that's just me getting used to longer tracks in general.

Listened to the TSN soundtrack all the way through the other day. Am I the only person who still likes Ghosts better?

I like them both equally TSN is a little more laid back

01/09/11 1:08 PM

For instrumental albums by NIN/TR+AR, my preference is
Ghosts
Quake
TSN

I love TSN, and think it's amazing, but the other two work better for me

01/09/11 1:36 PM

Nah, there are a few songs on TSN that I like more than Ghosts songs, but overall, Ghosts takes the cake.

01/12/11 9:44 AM

Mine goes like this:

TSN
Ghosts I-IV
Quake

Today I was in my fav music store and café in one, the chef is a friend of mine
[for the memory look here: [forum.nin.com] ]
I got my coffee...and then he said:"I want to show you something."
Me: "Is it something nice?"
He: just watched me.
Me: "Ah ok, I know, you have The Social Network by Nine Inch Nails on vinyl.
...We went to the spot, he catched right TSN on vinyl and showed me.
Me: "Cool, that you have it, very ideal."
We smirked...

apologies if i have put this in the wrong forum (am new here). whenever i listen to some of trent's more ambient works (like the awesome a warm place especially),i just keep imagining a really old building (that has been around forever,if that makes any sense) hidden in a lost forest with really old sculptures covered in moss.in this place time doesn't exist.i find i keep getting these images whenever i listen to trent's work.it's like in the building all the answers you could ever want are in there (philosophically speaking)along with anyone that you love/loved and lost.it just brings me an overwhealming sense of peace.thank you trent for these moments,i don't know if you really realize how much you affect people with your music, but you do.and i will always be a huge fan of any endeavour you do.peace to you trent and to everyone else

My only gripe would be it taking space on CD that could host Good Soldier remix

Funny enough, AVOTT is the only one from that remix album that I actually like. tongue sticking out smiley (I'm not big on remixes)

TSN soundtrack was better than i expected but nowhere on the same planet as the Inception soundtrack

that golden globe which to be brutally honest Inception deserved, teamed up with the whole oddly unanimously positive critical reception of TSN was to me a little too manufactured. you know instead of billboards pay for good reviews

just like its soundtrack TSN was good of course but seeing how Trents next project is the amazingly original GWTDT soundtrack im afraid he is going a little too corporate on us

01/23/11 2:46 PM

The Quake game soundtrack is amazing. Put your headphones on, turn the lights down low, grab your adult beverage of choice and chill.

Trent deserved that Golden Globe, and The Social Network's praise is entirely right and earned. TGWTDT has been hailed in many circles for it's film and book versions, so your comment there came off as odd.

Let me guess, are you one of those who refuses to conform to anything mildly popular, even if it's deserving? I don't care if what you said is an opinion, it's uninformed and false.

I think that, in the near future, Trent should appear on Conan's new show. Conan has this little academy of Oscar winners who have said "fuck" on his show. So if Trent wins the Oscar (which he has a good chance of doing), he should go on and join the F-bomb academy lol. It could also be a good way to promote HTDA, even possibly appearing with HTDA as the musical act of the show.

Just a thought, but I think it'd be a good idea.

01/27/11 10:43 PM

I'd love to see Trent go on Conan, or another late-night show, such as Stewart, and maybe play something from TSN and and throw in a little NIN.

01/27/11 10:59 PM

would be a pretty stupid move to play an instrumental piece on a late night show. the point is to gain attention, not bore people who want more shitty Conan jokes.

1. Who says instrumental music is boring? It's my favourite kind.

2. Conan's awesome.
