DVD!!!
DVD!!!
DVD!!!
DVD!!!

12/21/08 10:39 PM

Man a lot of people really want a DVD . Did you not read Trent's message? Surely you did as it sent the board into chaos.

No DVD. He needs to get permission from his old label to put out out a DVD because they own the the rights to the majority of his music.

The fan made DVD is the only one we're getting. You know if certain boardies don't tear each other apart.

And there's no way in hell it'll be done.

Your dreams. I'm here to crush them with reality.

Besides I already said Trent is giving us cake. I know this.

well you also know he owns all his post-YZ music as well - he can release as much of that as he damn-well pleases smiling smiley

still, my money would do better placing bets on it being a special holiday parting video from josh with that crazy lightning fx he so loves to share with us from time to time.

In case you hadn't read my previous speculatory expose-I'll just elaborate here and use some quotes from Trent's post.

Here's the part about the approaching of the company:

posted:
approach a certain record company that owns some of the song rights about producing / funding

They do own some of the song rights, but the main reason for them being approached was producing/funding. Also, if they had said yes, it would have made securing the song rights easier since the company producing the DVD actually owns them.

Here's the next notable part:
posted:
We then achieved the impossible by finding alternate production / funding but the timetable is too rushed to get it filmed comfortably with the remaining time left on the tour.

As I mentioned previously I am guessing that this alternate production/funding would have, or does cover securing the song rights. The one universal principle in this world seems to be that money talks. So if Trent managed to scrounge up the funds to purchase the rights to his own friggin' songs so he could make the DVD, then that's GREAT.

He never said the record company refused to give him the song rights, he merely mentioned that the "certain company" incidentally happened to own them. I do suppose he made a poor choice of words because it can be easily misconstrued.

Anyway, I'm sick of people just assuming that the DVD is impossible because they misinterpreted Trent's news post (although it is possible they were saying no to the song rights as well-I'm more inclined to believe Trent was referring to the funding/production of the DVD project specifically).

Anyway, that's hopefully the end of my little rant on that subject.

I have to say that no matter what the gift turns out to be, it'll probably be awesome-unless it's an iphone/ipod touch app or wallpaper package like someone just speculated. I mean, c'mon-a wallpaper package!! Don't we already have LitS wallpaper anyway? If we want to have images from the tour made into wallpaper can't we do that ourselves? Sure, we're making a LitS DVD ourselves, but that's rather tricky to do and has 0 chance of equaling up to the quality of a potential official release (although granted it does have it's own special qualities since it's a fan project-I'm not trying to put it down or anything).

Anyway, it doesn't matter exactly because Trent's already given us so much already, this will be just one last decoration to add to the 2008 NIN X-Mas Tree. grinning smiley

12/21/08 11:42 PM

so, maybe, since this next show will definately be it for a while, meet and greet maybe?,so many of us would like so much to just shake your hand,or take fan pics, and, well,I'm getting older tongue sticking out smiley , If I ever did get the chance to take a pic with the TR I don't want to be grey tongue sticking out smiley ppl in my fam go grey at 30,I'll be 29 feb sad smiley I could'nt be a bus chaser or go to the hotels, I think it's rude. would'nt be right that way so...

An app however, as already mentioned, would not be a universally useable gift-so again, it's unlikely.

Ultimately it boils down to that there's no evidence really pointing towards a new album, single, or any kind of app. There is however a good deal of evidence pointing toward some kind of official LitS DVD being made. So if I had to make a bet on it, well the odds seem very much in favor of that.

Actually...there is official evidence of a new app.

It just seems like this would be the right time to release such an app. Merry Christmas! Sorry, I know a lot of people will probably be upset if this is it, but not me, I'm getting an iPod Touch for Christmas, so I'm pumped!

And I'm sure for those who don't have an iTouch/iPhone, Trent will probably release something seperate as well. Knowing him, he knows people don't like feeling left out.

Trent has given us a LOT this year. I mean, don't take it for granted, ANYONE... He's a really good guy, and he's sacrificed a lot to keep his fans happy. This is one of the many reasons why I look up to and respect Trent so much.

I never saw the point of an ipod touch. It has less memory & wow,you can touch the screen. I don't really need the touch option lol

See I'm a man of simple taste. I enjoy things like dynamite.. gunpowder & gasoline.

Do you know what these things all have in common.. They’re cheap.

It's already been released: [tapulous.com]

It's VERY clear that's what the message refers to, the address itself is "taptap", and the game is Tap Tap Revenge. End of story. It's not an app because the app is already done and out there. Releasing another app would be rather redundant if you ask me.

It's one of the reasons I'm wanting to get an iPod touch-the first reason is I don't already have an iPod (I have a Zune, but I'm not impressed with its features-and there aren't very many official games out for it yet).

Hearing this news is obviously unsettling. I do have to say that I will also take the time to reflect upon what a great influence Mr. Reznor's body of work has been during some of the finest moments of my life. I have had the luxury of having been able to see several incarnations of the band six times since 1994 thus far. All that Mr. Reznor has shared with both myself and the rest us who read and contribute to these boards has been an embarrassment of riches. I want more Sir, but am so grateful for what you have given. And I can only imagine how taxing it has to be with all the constant traveling, but this is again why I am grateful. I am so very lucky that you happen to love Detroit, and have always let it show onstage. I wish you the best, Sir. And I look forward to seeing you at least one more time after April 09' in Detroit. I've got to see what your going to do with the band, and really are looking forward to seeing Ilan Rubin on drums. I got this feeling like maybe you might lean toward something a bit more raw as a four piece. As far as those being the last tour dates in the forseeable future, I hope its like you said in Vegas- "You never know with me...". Until later then Thank You and, I'll see you in Detroit.

You're mistaken. That link originally linked from the TapTap site to that, a part of NIN.com. It is also, as I've said, in the "About Nine Inch Nails" section of the "TapTap Revenge NIN edition" that has already been released. It says, in that section of the app, that NIN is working on their own app. In other words, it's a completely different app, not to be confused with the TapTap one. It's rather confusing, as it does say "taptap" in the URL, but that is just because it linked from taptap's site.

Just saying >_>;

On a side note:

Trent, I know you get a TON of these, but I have to get mine out there.

PLEASE COME TO CINCINNATI OHIO! I need to see you man, please don't skip over us again for Lexington and Columbus. If you're looking for an ampitheater tour, Riverbend Music Center would be a good choice, it's where most big bands play.

Ok, maybe a musical God. I can respect that one. smiling smiley

I wouldn't really call Trent a "god", he's just a human being like the rest of us. But I still think he's pretty awesome...

Well, he's certainly not the god, but he's a musical deity nonetheless. I've seen and read how passionate we are about him and his works; some of us practically worship the guy, faithfully following him and putting him above all else.

Disclaimer: Trent Reznor may or may not actually be able to walk on water!eye popping smiley

He's certainly had a profound impact on my life, both in the past, in the present and invariably the future as well. For all of us for that matter. He's touched every one of our lives and his music has made a difference for each and every one of us; men/women, young/old, rich/poor, cats/dogs... confused smiley -watch the PETA video.grinning smiley

I digress. DJGamer, I think you make some excellent and valid points and I'm inclined to agree with you on the LITS DVD! If not that then maybe the gift of a NIN 8-TRACK!!

Not to be a drooly ass kisser but for real I admire NIN's music and drive heaps - all you guys inspire me so much! So yeah... just wanted to thank you. You guys should be really proud of yourselves for such a creatively amazing year <3

12/22/08 6:44 AM

So.... last Friday I was told by a close friend who works for a major record label that Robin is leaving too.

I spent all the time since checking and verifying sources and I believe it to be true. Robin is rehearsing with G'N'R in January for what has been described to me as "A major world tour".

Is Robin coming to New Zealand Trent? I fuckin wondered why the tickets are only NZ$84 (about US$45). Are you only bringing Ilan and a laptop? Is fucking Beck gonna announce a tour soon?

The ticket was cheap but I paid handsomely for air travel and hotels so I could come to your show. This is money my growing family could use for nappies and infant car seats. But I got all excited and splashed some cash for your show.

I know that these guys are just hired guns but in future could you tell us what the deal is? I feel a bit ripped off. If you really are stripping your show back (how the fuck are you gonna replace these guys in ONE MONTH???) then why play Vector in NZ? You could come to my town and I would still pay the ticket price and not have to pay trav and acom.

You would play a smaller venue and get paid less but without a band your over heads are lower. You would sell out in my hometown. Information from another buddy in the know is that the promoter is thinking of pulling your Feb date at vector already, based on the pitiful sales so far.

Fuck it, this is stupid. None of you are real. I'm going to donate my tix/trav/acom to the city mission to give to a homeless person. At least they can use the cancellation money to buy glue and/or methylated spirits!

Merry Xmas Blanketman, enjoy Trent and his drummer.

How long ago was that now?

What makes you think it's TR's decision? G'N'R has been to NZ three times now and my source has hooked me up with tickets to two of those shows. Why shouldn't I believe him?

Trust me I'm furious about these revelations and that is why I had to confirm it before saying anything here. On my mission I spoke to a person from the office of the promotion co that is paying the bill and he says that they are considering canceling due to poor ticket sales. I dealt with this guy on a daily basis when I worked on Ori tours and he never bullshitted me then.

TR is withholding info from especially his Kiwi and Aussie fans and fuck it, I'm already getting ripped off with no Josh, no Sandro and no L.E.D. screens. Can I just get the truth here please? Instead of suck arses telling me I'm wrong? I am a Robin fan as much as I am a NIN fan and I will be gutted to not see Finck again. (He came to NZ already with G'N'R).

Could someone from the NIN camp comment on this? Not some little kid who believes everything his Idol tells him?

12/22/08 7:42 AM

This is going to be audio from the recent tour. He uses the word "gift" in the post, so it has to be a free download of some sort...My guess is that it will be a full length concert pro mixed audio.

you people crack me up. The band will forever change and evolve with Trent allways leading a new effort. Not sure what the new band will look like but the whole world is in a recession now. Maybe it's really hard for the average person to afford extra's and maybe tickets just aren't selling. The majority of people don't just have the cash laying around and in this economy (only judging by my own) maybe there will be a few tours cancelled here & there. Wishing only the best to the band of course. Hope it can continue
OH YEAH I HOPE IT'S A DVD!!!
