I personally think him and without him half the bands out there, wouldn't be out there so one huge thank you to Trent for all these years of hard work. Back to the point, TR keeps his promises we'll get our gift but be patient and find something to pass the time rather than refreshing the screen all the frikin time. I'm sure most will agree with this post

I’m not trying to put you down or anything. Reznor and NIN are all deserving of our praise and gratitude. But let’s not get carried away. NIN is my favorite band, for their spirit and what they have done for the music industry. But by no means does Reznor hold the world title of greatest in musical talent. Furthermore, if half of the bands you can think of are a result of Reznor, then you need to expand your musical horizons. There are alot of really good musicans out there...
i think when it comes to one single individual artist, he is the best musician in the world. For christ's sake, name one other one man band that is better and i will accept your argument. Just had to say my two cents.
I imagine a majority of music is composed by “one single individual artist.” Lots bands have only one guy who writes the music. Remember, NIN would not be what it is today without the efforts of Robin Finck, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Charlie Clouser, Alessandro Cortini, Jerome Dillon, Josh Freese, Aaron North, Richard Patrick, Chris Vrenna, Jerodie White, James Woolley, Danny Lohner …
Do you know what musicality is? Do you really think people will ever study NIN like they study the works of Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, or Bach for instance?
they already do jackass. Many recording schools and other places praise his innovation and technique. If you were to give me a single musician on that level, i would have accepted Omar Rodriguez-Lopez as an answer. please stop talking and go listen to your Rascal Flatts albums now. He is a modern day composer, unless you never followed all his works, ie Ghosts, Still etc. You are speaking about his live band by the way, which has nothing to do with the recorded material. Do your homework before you open your mouth again. Stupid kids....
Nobody studies NIN to the magnitude of Bach. Yes, “MANY recording schools and other places praise his innovation and technique,” but ALL music schools, worldwide, glorify the masterpieces of Bach.
“He is a modern day composer, unless you never followed all his works, ie Ghosts, Still etc. “
What are you talking about? Trent Reznor is a modern day composer? Of course he is. No one said he wasn’t. Furthermore, why do you believe the creation of Ghosts or the Still album makes him more of a composer than the creation of Pretty Hate? Just because they are not as heavy? Because they are primarily instrumental? That has absolutely nothing to do with it. But maybe this would be a good time to mention that Atticus Ross played a major role in the composition of Ghosts.
I am not done with you yet. I am a stupid kid. But just as soon as I finish doing my homework on the subject I will get back to you. Just wait.
well, that's good. They say the first step is denial. Now, my next question to you would be, what other band, given the same variables and length of career matching NIN (1988-2008)deserves this recognition. They will go down in history with the same reverence as Pink Floyd. They will also never gain this recognition until they are gone. Because, sadly enough Humans are creatures of habit and history will always repeat itself. Now, i'll leave you to your studies...
p.s. guest stars on the last 2 releases does not credit every musician as a member of NIN, read the liner notes on the cds. They usually say, written, performed and produced by trent reznor, not trent and friends. There maybe an occasional track here or there, but the composition is his and his alone. All i offer is logic, it's up to you to accept it.
p.s.s the only reason the word "composer" was even brought up was you kept mentioning Bach for some odd reason. I seriously doubt the same scholars who study at Juliard listen to this, but maybe i'm wrong. Anyway, next time you have an argument, come equipped with a point please. Thank you for this, it was a lot of fun.
to whom it may concern, the update you are waiting for drops on the New Year, so be patient.

The first step to what is denial?
“Now, my next question to you would be, what other band, given the same variables and length of career matching NIN (1988-2008) deserves this recognition. “ How is this your NEXT question? Wasn’t this the very FIRST question that started this argument? Don’t you remember? “For christ's sake, name one other one man band that is better and i will accept your argument.”
You’re right; it seems artists aren’t fully recognized until after they are gone. I agree.
p.s. You asked me if I ever listened to Ghosts. Not only have I listened to it, but I pointed out that Atticus Ross has writing credits for every single song that appears on the album. Not some of them, but all of them.
p.s.s
You still don’t know what the word composer means, do you?
“I seriously doubt the same scholars who study at Juliard listen to this, but maybe i'm wrong.”
Isn’t this my point? It’s not because Julliard scholars are stubborn idiots who refuse to listen NIN. It’s because there is more, in terms of musicality, that they can learn from others.
I am glad you are having fun. I am not. I hate you.
you know, it is very difficult to argue with some that is lacking a frontal lobe. I see this is a common phenomena in the younger generation. i hate to assume, but my gut tells me you're one of them. You can't even stick to one topic of argument or even follow a train of thought. So, it is fun for me because, like a caveman, you are angry by what you don't understand. Organized religion has this problem too. Of course, there are more bands out there, if you would like a list, here you go
The Mars Volta
Radiohead
Saul Williams
Pink Floyd
The Beatles
Miles Davis
Deftones
At The Drive In
The mere fact that you mention Bach and NIN together is retarted. Yes, they will be remembered and studied, but not in the same light. So, like i said, have a point next time. Maybe take a debate class or something might help. Use your head..and don't say NIN is my favorite, but i don't like this or that. It just makes you look like the ass you are. The End
You consistently result to name calling, and I am the child.
I have responded to everyone one of your points, and you have not responded to many of mine, especially without repeating the same thing over and over again.
It is nice to see a list of bands you like. I have studied music theory, and I have studied these bands amongst many others. They are indeed very good bands.
I mention Bach because the musical complexity of his work far surpasses that of NIN. Musicality that can be applied to any genera of music. There is so much about music beyond your window of interest that you know nothing about.
NIN is my favorite band, but I do not think they are the greatest musicians of all time.
My favorite artist is Salvador Dali, but I do not say he is the best ever.
My favorite baseball team is the Chicago Cubs, but they are by no means the best.
My favorite brand of jeans is Levi’s, but they are not the best jeans.
I like girls with blond hair and blue eyes, but do not call them superior.
Does this make me an ass?
You think I lack a frontal lobe, and I think you are too closed minded for us to ever come to an agreement. Further discussion is pointless. It’s been a real pain in the ass talking to an ignorant self-righteous shit head like you. This discussion is over.
once again. more pointless ranting, did you get a thesaurus for christmas and were itching to try it out? Your argument makes no sense and this all started because you made a statement which is contradictory in terms. I could give a shit less what team you like, who you date or how you wipe your ass. Stick to the topic, make a valid point, or just shut your retarded mouth. I study theory and I also compose music as well. So, i think i may know what I am talking about. You know nothing about my "window of music", you make general assumptions and back them with asinine rebuttals, that is why i call you a child. But, then again, a lot of adults do it too. Follow the conversation, then try again. maybe you'll make sense next time. If you studied theory, you might know how to spell genre too, just throwing that out there..and i also listen to Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. Before you respond, please turn on Spell-check, for me?
