Amusingly enough, The Downward Spiral. Not because I dislike it, but because I like all the others that much more.
I do agree with ^^^ about Ghosts. It's more of an experiment than an album.

Hmm.. I actually love them all, even though each and every album is very different from each other. It's amazing! tongue sticking out smiley

oh god am I going to get hurt for this but The Fragile to me is the least interesting of the NIN catalog....I think it might be a wee bit too long for me to truly appreciate, although I will mention that there are quite a few tracks on TF that I thought I didn't like that are beginning to grow on me......but The Day The World Went Away and the album version of Starfuckers, Inc still suck major donkey balls.

10/31/10 9:03 AM

I guess i would have to say the remix albums, since ive listened to only a few songs off them, except for Year Zero Remixed, that one i do like. But ive never been big on remix albums.

11/01/10 4:10 PM

With Teeth. Not saying I don't like it, just my least favorite. Too many quiet songs.

11/01/10 7:12 PM

"The Slip" it felt kind of thrown together...and I just wasn't feeling the depth of the album, but he did put out Ghosts the same year, which was nothing but depth, so maybe he wanted to do something a little heavier, but less deep...but it was pretty amazing considering the threw it together in 10 days...

11/02/10 3:30 AM

Would have to be Ghosts for me, just don't have to patience to fully appreciate it.

11/02/10 6:49 AM

Broken. It doesn't have what I love from NIN: quietness.

Yeah, I'd go with this sort of. There are times when I listen to Broken all day long. However, I have to be in a certain mindset for an album full of nothing but raw anger and agression, and I'm not always in that mood.

pretty hate machine is a flop to my ears and with a reissue on its way i feel a failure coming on cos i have to buy it

it's the most depressing NIN album.

Can't really see how it's more depressing than most NIN albums. If anything it's probably less bleak than most.

Kinda like being a Floyd fan and not liking Dark Side of the Moon.

DSotM is nowhere as good as Animals or WYWH though.

Anyway, if you are buying a record you know you hate, then you're a retard

Just unusual that a NIN fan wouldn't like PHM, that's all.

Ghosts, simply because 36 tracks with no names. I can't show people a certain song because I'm not able to find it. Such a trivial reason should show how had it is for me to call one album my least favorite.

That being said, I don't own Fixed, so I can't fairly come to a conclusion without hearing it first.

it's good but over 30 instrumental tracks on one album? Uh no, not for me.
This.

Although, I wasn't hugely into With Teeth... for different reasons.

11/09/10 8:15 PM

Definetly Year Zero.

I just wasn't in to the whole Doomsday concept. NIN albums always felt very personal and autobiographical to me, as if they chronicled Trents' life through music. Even if some the other albums are also concept albums, they still feel very introverted.

Then we have Year Zero... an album about a corrupt World Order, drugged drinking water, and religious hallucinations, among other things. Year Zero always sticks out like a sore thumb to me whenever I look at the NIN catalog.

I wish Year Zero was released as Trent Reznor instead of Nine Inch Nails to keep it distanced from the rest of the material. IMO all the albums go together and tell a story of sorts, except that one. It doesnt fit with the rest. It just never felt right to me.

On top of that... about half of that album I consider to be pretty mediocre, compared to the greatness that is the rest of the halos.

Pretty Hate Machine,

sorry posted before, just waiting for the reissue and new packaging to flop on my doorstep

I quite like Fixed.

And I don't listen to PHM that much, either. Probly my least favorite.

Make sure you let your voice be heard in the ALBUM ELECTION!

11/15/10 2:03 AM

While the final results for the election will be quite different, this is how I would rank the albums from my favorite to least favorite:

1. The Fragile
2. The Downward Spiral
3. Pretty Hate Machine
4. Ghosts I-IV
5. Year Zero
6. With Teeth
7. Broken
8. The Slip

pretty much. not bad but (probably consciously) not nin's best effort

We're trying to decide on the best album over here [forum.nin.com] smiling smiley

Didn't Trent even say that The Slip was very quickly written, recorded and released in sort of an experiment and just being happy to be able to do just that if he likes? Not surprised it feels a bit thrown together.

The Downward Spiral. Its a mindset, it brings out a darkness in me that I'm not always willing to play with. Its a very magical album, with horrifying properties.

11/19/10 11:20 AM

Of Just the Main albums, Pretty Hate Machine is the one I listen to least.

In Order:

The Fragile
Year Zero
Downward Spiral
The Slip
With Teeth
Pretty hate Machine

Ghosts doesnt count to me because there are no vocals, although I do Quite Like it. The Broken and Still EP's are great as well

The Remix CD's I think theres a handful of songs on each that I like but overall I never really listen to Fixed, Further Down the Spiral or the year zero remix album

I don't even care if you don't like The Downward Spiral - I f***ing LOVE your avatar and therefore you! tongue sticking out smiley

My least favorite album has to be Broken. I listen to it the least, you need to be in a certain mood to listen to them, and plus the videos from Broken are ridiculous and from a time in Nine Inch Nails' existence I don't particularly like. I'm definitely voting Gave Up or Happiness In Slavery as my first votes for the Video Election...
