I'm so bummed to hear about time to make NIN disappear for awhile (let that be at least 5 years, not forever), yet excited (for tour). I will make sure to attend at least 3 more shows (like last year). I was thinking of going to Bonnaroo, but can't afford it; plus if I did go to Bonnaroo, I wouldn't be able to afford anymore NIN shows. Make sure to come back around near TN. Much love and much respect!

So Trent doesn't see any more tour dates after 2009. Doesn't mean he won't be busy with other projects. There's still the possible Year Zero TV series, and who knows what else he's got up his sleeve?

I know, right?

And what ever he does/touches will be golden...and we will follow him every step of the way.

Totally, the artist in me wonders what he could to with some paints or metal and a torch, hummmmmm.

I'm excited to get the chance to at least make it to one show this time around!!!
Can't wait!!!

Maybe i'm too positive or had too much AMP... Doubt it'll be forever, But you deserve a niiiice long break!
Thanks for all you do!<3

Would you idiots stop posting thinking this is the end of Trent Reznor forever. Christ, he said it's time for NINE INCH NAILS to disappear, Not himself. Who knows what he'll do next. Maybe a one man project, or maybe form a new band. Or maybe he wants to take a break for a while, it's his life, he's worked hard to put his music out there for everyone to listen to. He wasn't even completely clear on it. So everyone shut the fuck up.

02/16/09 5:42 PM

I'd rather get kicked in the nads than hear this, but TR needs a break.

He needs to recharge the batteries (so to speak), take a step back and come back in a few years.

Truly sad if he's done with NIN. We all know he won't go away completely though, which is important.

02/16/09 4:42 PM

All I can say is,

If this end's up bieng NIN's final goodbye,
Thanks for all the amazing work Trent, NIN has really opened me up to music generally as a person, breaking me out of a little pop obsessed bubble and has taught me appresiate music as an art not a throw-away downlaod.

Just hope there ends up bieng a show in France, I haven't seen NIN live yet and would hate to miss the chance.

Waiting on pained tender-hooks for tour info,

Enjoy the final hurdle and have a great haitus(?), you deserve the rest Trent after all the hard and amazing work you have done, you put bands half your age to shame with your recent outpour of astouding music. I'm glad I got into NIN at such an exiting peak (05 onwards).

EDIT: If this is truely a final goodbye, don't soften the blow with a maybe, just nock it on the head so all the "is he, isn't he ending foever" debate stops.

Thank you so much. I can't wait to see Jane's and NIN together. It will be epic.

TR so deserves a break but--This is not allowed to be a forever break. I can't imagine life without NIN.

Initial reaction to Jane's...smiling bouncing smiley grinning smiley You are AWESOME! The fact that you are even sensitive enough to pick up on that implosion...and to offer it a new life (in spite of the troubles) speaks volumes about you as a person Mr. Trent...a spiral is coming full circle no?

Second reaction, sad to see this going on the back burner for a while. I SINCERELY hope it is for bigger and better things in your life. smiling smiley Like living...a life. You make me really want to read Outliers now. After the interview where you mentioned it, I came across it in the USAIR magazine (Cool careers/success article) on the flight to Vegas so...eye rolling smiley...YA KNOW I stopped in the first book store at the airport and picked it up. LOL.

Lastly, I am glad this is one thing in my life I didn't miss, and it turn out I wasn't too late for after all. The NIN experience. THANK YOU SIR! For everything.

(P.s. if you want incredible inspiration, I suggest visiting the Valley of Fire...especially the Petroglyphs and the designs people make in the sand. I ended up pulling over on the East in-road and writing a REALLY shitty poem...it was that mind blowing! grinning smiley LOL IDK I swear I wanna call this place home some day...*sigh*)

Anywho, be well and safe travels ("Fare"-"well" fellow traveler) smiling smiley Looking forward to the final tour (for a while) and the meny meny pics of greasy spoons, roadside oddities and Brett in costume.

I can only hope that Trent considers "making NIN disappear for awhile" similar to the lengthy break between Fragile and With Teeth.

The music industry frankly needs a person like Trent around to keep the Simon Cowell-American Idol induced crap that is over running the entertainment world.

Entertainment period, now, in this depressing world collapse, needs the brilliance and escape that Trent's imagination and skills deliver.

Most importantly....thanks Trent. For the soundtrack of my generation.

I agree with you. I hate todays world and its tastes. I caught some of the grammys and to see bands that sing songs like "i kissed a girl and liked it" and get to perform live made me sick as hell. And I was even more fucking sick when i found out Trent didnt get a grammy for one of the most beautiful pieces of music made with feeling and emotion. I was so exicted for him and his band when I found out they got nominated. I was so sure they would win. Fucking Grammys. I hate you.(sry for the rant lol got carried away a bit smiling smiley)

At the same time, Im sure it is exhausting being one of the only bands to be so original and not be backed up by a company. NIN being independent has really shown us their true talents, and abilities as a band. Maybe TR needs some TR time, and I dont blame him for that or hold it against him.

I however, do not think he will dissappear. Im sure he will be doing something with himself. He is too creative and structured to not be keeping his mind busy. As a result we will know because his ideas and projects are too big to keep to himself. Expecially when he is proud of it. I think its too overwhelming and he has to share it will all of us!

Thank you and good luck Trent!
And if you come to the Dallas area, or anywhere close to Dallas, I will be there to support you guys and to receive the farewell wave goodbye! It will be a sad but wonderful show!!

02/16/09 4:45 PM

My response is purely selfish. I just found NIN, and now it's disappearing? Please be real about the "for a while". I understand the need for rest and reenergizing . . . but I can't stop thinking selfish thoughts. Thank you, thank you for all that your music has brought to my life these last six months, and your music will continue to be part of my life. Just please don't be gone for good.

I will be at a show if one is anywhere near me.

02/16/09 4:46 PM

Too many thanks to tell for the amazing tunes, sir, and for being a creative inspiration. And I hope by "making NIN disappear" you don't mean "stop making cool new music". That would make me very sad. I don't care what you call your projects. If you decide to make something, you have my support!

Thanks again.

02/16/09 4:46 PM

Woah..

OK I regret my last post. I didn't read the post thorough enough. It's great that so many people love NIN (including me), but some of these posts are so goddamned creepy. Yes Trent said NIN will be gone awhile but we still have over 500 songs and remixes to listen to and Another Version of the Truth DVD coming up, plus another tour.

I'll definitely be at the next show in my area though, front and center.

i wish i could see where they would be this time next year, hopefully it's trent sitting on a beach, watching a light's in the sky dvd thinking "damn i'm good", maybe it is time for a break. but pleasee come back if you do take break, cause, well just cause, you are that damn good!

02/16/09 4:46 PM

*drooling*

OK, time to listen the Jane's Addiction discography.

Trent makes me happy.

02/16/09 4:46 PM

I feel this may be perhaps a bit of a Ziggy stardust ending winking smiley
W/E though, I guess I'm gonna have to try and get to every stinkin UK date there is.
Hopefully another Reading festival slot?

Just gone 17 last month, I have only known your music for about 3 years, but I am already placing you in my list of favourite artists/bands of all time, and I feel that everyone who knows you solely from listening to Hurt, is missing out on a great deal for sure...
Please don't make this the end, because someones gotta do that dirty job of shovelling mainstream shit away from the kids growing up, who need to hear some real fucking music (no pun intended), and should be granted that right.
My contribution to this thread has gone on long enough.
Thank you for changing my life in some shape or form..

X

02/16/09 4:47 PM

NIN is gone? forever or a few years?

02/16/09 4:48 PM

I think he just going to take a break and be back later on making music again

02/16/09 4:48 PM

If Trent says that NIN will disappear for a while, I'll take that to mean that it is not for good and he'll be working on other things.

While this is kinda sad, he's got to do what he feels is best for him and NIN, and I can do nothing but respect that.

02/16/09 4:49 PM

...i figured that that's what he meant when he said "get it while you can", might have to quit my job for this tour,...

02/16/09 4:49 PM

Why do I suddenly feel like a beloved significant other just told me, "we need some time apart"? I'm not offended, and I understand; but this cold, sinking feeling in my stomach is a bit of a problem. Thanks for everything. I'll see you out there.

Also, a little "PS" or a post in here to say that you mean "hiatus" and not "THE END" would really make my day. confused smiley

Peace & Wellness
