Whether this is adios for good or not, I think this outpouring of gratitude is more than appropriate. Who knows what the future holds, and this is a pretty good indicator that one of the few real revolutionaries of the age is hanging it up for at least a considerable amount of time. I'd like to add my thanks to the mountain.
Thanks for sharing the most effective communication of emotion I've ever experienced. NIN has not only given me countless hours of simple musical enjoyment, but encouraged me to investigate art at a deeper level and helped inspire and frame my career in teaching.
Thanks for being honest, generous, and principled. You have set an almost impossibly high bar for others to reach towards, not only musically, but visually through graphic presentation and performance, socially through the community that you have brought together, and philosophically through questioning the nature of entitlement and ownership.
Enjoy your time off, and if you should ever desire to discuss aspects of your work with a group of appreciative seventh graders, I'm advancing an open invitation to contact me through this awesome site you have built.
Thanks for everything, rest assured you've built up some pretty good karma!
