I get the feeling that what he is saying is he needs to refresh himself to keep from becoming stale. In the past there were many years between the eras and each one acted as a new sonic discovery for the listeners. Think of how different The Fragile is from Broken or Downward Spiral. Personally I am glad for the break. Like every other cliche fan, I love all of Nin's releases. But, With Teeth, the Slip, and Year Zero for me blend together in a way that makes Downward Spiral, Fragile, Broken, and Pretty Hate Machine eras seem like islands unto themselves. Don't get me wrong... I love everything but if he needs nine years to come up with something that will blow me away then do it. I'm not too scared. Trent has music too ingrained in his system to walk away completely. He makes anything digestable and his remix of P. Diddy's Victory is proof of that. We'll see.

I would rather think positively about this. As a fan I am saddened. However, I know Trent is way to immersed in his creativity to disappear from the world of artistry. I'm sure we will be seeing him around whether it is in software or music production, or other things of the sort. When you love something as much as Trent loves creating music, then I doubt you will ever stop. Maybe one day he will decide to release something. Plus, I could understand how this thought could arise after touring for almost a year. Touring is so grueling and tiring. I'm sure he loves it, but he probably just wants to be grounded and live for a while. Either way, twenty years of music is an incredible achievement. If I were Trent I would be happy to know that I gave that big of a contribution to the music world.

Have any of you huys checked Trent's Twitter recently? Because if you ave, I'm getting the feeling that he'll be doing more producing other bands. That's what I get anyway.
