After reading the last few entries up there, I'm beginning to doubt that English is my first language - WTF?

Anyway, the interview someone posted made me feel a whole lot better. I didn't think it was the true end of NIN to begin with, but hearing the true context of "waving goodbye" from Trent's own lips quelled any anxieties I was having in the back of my empty head.

HEY MODERATOR(S): You guys are usually such zealots when it comes to "guarding your forum perogatives"...why haven't you given this bowl-whatsit guy and the 666 guy your customary OFF TOPIC warning?

02/23/09 1:38 PM

NIN and Jane's in the same show? Must attend.

Ritual De Lo Habitual is a fuckin' classic and I feel it doesnt nearly get the recognition it deserves.

It could be because they are still scratching their heads trying to figure out what the LIVING HELL the topic would even be for that conversation.

soo. this pretty much means trent is selfish and can't stand the evolution of the corporate music world.... i guess if its to hot in the kitchen then get out . can't play with the big boys then go home and cry. seriously. music and its scene change! but that didnt stop bands like the grateful dead to throw in the towel when trends were changeing over and over again. they didnt say BYE and remember us in our small time frame, and we'll be back when we are bored and broke.

but im also guessing too.... that trent is gonna pretty much make pretty boring material at home and shit it out for us and complain when no one buys it, its the corporate worlds fault. but really... and its kinda sad... but... its not fresh, trent is not a new face. people don't remember his mark in the early 90's or its not there generation and they don't really care. AND his music stunts of fighting with limp bizkit and giving his music away for free only got in the spotlight for one day....... but is this the reason to throw in the towel? shouldnt be...

sorry for being a debbie downer. i been a fan of nin sents i was 14. use to be scared of nin when i was 8 when my sister would listen to him. and im 25. so u can attack me if u want. but this is just my opinion. i dunno. the whole bye thing kinda put me down. feel like im getting old. i miss the nin/manson time.

They should just start a thread called "tl;dr" and merge all that shit there.

02/23/09 1:54 PM

Bittersweet. I've been really fortunate to be able to experience each tour leg in the last few years and I wouldn't miss this for the world. I'll be in at least one pit for this one...

02/23/09 1:55 PM

Wow, God-For-Fucking-Bid that Trent would want to run his career his own way. That's just so fucking selfish. I think he should be drawn and quartered for such atrocities.

No, I think they should have a thread named "Thesarus and Run-on Sentences Junkies"

I hope you come back someday Trent!

How in hell can a one man band be disbanded? Kidding. Guess Nine Inch Nails will no longer be a priority for some time. It is sad that such an elaborate show as the Lights in the Sky Tour had no dates for Europe but am looking forward for this more spontaneous type of concerts if ever coming to Spain.

Maybe it's already been posted, and maybe a lot of people have seen the thread already... but if I hadn't I sure would appreciate this.

For anyone still flipping out about "the end of NiN":
^_____^

02/23/09 3:19 PM

i will wave goodbye tonight. sad smiley

please come back to sydney sometime.

02/23/09 3:33 PM

you know trent has taken long breaks before. I'm sure he will be coming back with something in the future. He will just see how many of us miss him-then laugh-and then feel bad and make a new album for us.

02/23/09 3:44 PM

All I can say is WOW!!! NIN and Jane's Addiction were both on the first Lollapalooza tour back in 1991. To see them perform together on stage will be something truly extraordinary.

I'm personally rooting for a live 'March of the Pigs'/'Pigs in Zen' mash-up.... This will be one tour to follow to whatever cities we can manage.

02/23/09 3:46 PM

Trent, you are a musical GOD. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, come close to West Virginia, I know the show will sell out in like one day! Its hard for me to make it far but I'll do my best if you don't come to good ol' West Virginia. I can't believe that you're taking a break(i hope thats all it is)even though I know it is well deserved. ghosts was an outstanding idea, what a composer you are. Well Mr. Reznor, guess I'll see ya around.

I sure bet NIN retiring will jack up NIN collectibles on eBay.

02/23/09 5:17 PM

I AM DEVASTATED!!!!! No seriously... still crying sad smiley !!!!

NIN is amazing and you will truly be missed. I am so glad I was able to attend the "Lights In The Sky" tour when you came to the forum... You brought the house down with your performance. I had chills through the entire show, and you brought so much emotion to the stage as well.

I have been a fan since the early 90's when I first heard your music, and I have followed up with you ever since then. You are truly a genious Trent. I pray with all my heart that you will not leave the Music Industry forever. I know you have worked so hard the last 20+ years and you deserve a break, but I hope that this isn't really over yet. You have brought so much passion to music and opened up so many minds. I Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your mind with the rest of the world. We are truly blessed to have been in your presence, and to witness your magic. So Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you all. You are, and always have been AMAZING!!!!

No disrepect to your opinion or anything... I miss the Manson/NIN days too. But think about how much he really gave us in the last 20 years... honestly! Let's face it, None of us are getting any younger.... including Trent!!! I'm 26 myself and have been a fan since the early 90's. Think about all the partying that came with the lifestyle, not to mention even the sober touring... it has to take a toll on anyone old and young. Im not saying Trent is old (always young in my mind) But seriously 20 years... He HAS to be exhausted. I just feel blessed to have been able to attend "Lights In the Sky" tour and I wouldn't miss this last show for the world.
