Thanks for the free music!

This new studio version of Non-Entity is awesome...I like it more than the first one, which that first version is awesome as well, but this one is heavier!!

The whole Seed 6 is awesome. I can't help but notice that I've missed Seeds 2-5.

i'm amazed people still bitch about free music. IT'S FUCKING FREE!

if you paid for it, then you can bitch, but it was free. take it or leave it.

I don't know if you're directing that at people who (like myself) have said they were slightly dissapointed with Non-Entity, but there is a BIG difference between "bitching" about music and stating your opinion about it. I for one wasn't bitching at all... I just said that, with all the anticipation about getting a studio version of that song, the final one was a little underwhelming, but I still said I liked it nevertheless.

Just because the music is free, doesn't mean people can't have opinions on it... afterall, what would become of music if it was all released for free under the philosophy of "if its free, you can't complain"? Surely people having and discussing their varying opinions on music is what keeps it interesting and also helps you identify other music you might enjoy.

If you can't handle the fact that some people might not particularly like a track as much as others then that's your problem, really!

I've noticed people talking like there's been more than one studio version of Non-Entity. Are you guys confusing the ReactNow live piano version with a studio version or something?

03/21/09 10:21 AM

i cant be bothered reading to see if the problem has been fixed....but some friends of mine called me up and said they downloaded the mp3 version of the EP and says they cant open or play it, so for those who dowloaded the mp3 version, to get if working, right click on the file, select [rename] and at the END of the name, add .ZIP and then it should open up for you.

I know the version you speak of for the ReactNow live piano version, and the other studio version is different. It's softer (not not a soft song) than the most recent version (seed 6 version). So, as far as I'm aware of, there are 3 versions of Non-Entity; 4 if you include the live version on the Beside You In Time DVD/Blu-Ray.

The one you're missing out on has a full compliment of guitar, drums, piano, and all that other crazy trent like sound. I really enjoy that version, but the newer heavier version is AWESOME!!....because...well...it's heavier.

Are you sure you're not talking about the Kroq live version? I looked on the NIN wiki and they only list 3 versions, including this new one.

Obviously if that's the version you're talking about then you're aware it's live, it's just the talk like it's a studio version thats confused me.

The version of Non-Entity is great. The Street Sweeper tracks are tight. Sick.

I have all versions, they sound different. And I looked up the version you mentioned that was referenced in Wiki for the Kroq live version which is obviously live, as in, once you listen to this other version, which Wiki seems to not know about, you'll know for a fact in a heartbeat it's studio. The Kroq version sounds much much more like the most recent version of Non-Entity, except that it's live.

If that search fails, contact me. I'll see what I can do. I always DL and never UL, so I'm not familiar with sending stuff (cant be that hard). But, I'm sure we could figure out a way.

I really don't feel like wading through all of these posts, so I apologize ahead of time. Has anyone else had problems with the FLAC version? All of the tracks work fine for me except Chip Away which comes up as being corrupt. I've re-downloaded it several times, and each time it is the same. Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me where to find this version of Non-Entity?

I believe this is the studio version with all the goodies (pianos, synths, guitars etc).

I could not find it on iTunes or Amazon which were linked from that site.

Appreciate it!

That was the live ReactNOW version, but I think somebody just remixed some other parts into it to make it "fuller". The one trent just gave us is the only real studio version. And you can get the version you just linked to on remix.nin.com.

People are not bitching because it's free. They are just giving their advice on the songs. It's not because it's free, that you can't say what you think about it. If people didn't like the music, they are allowed to say what they think about it, it's not because it's free, that they shouldn't say anything and keep shut.
Yes, if somebody is bitching about the quality, he length or something else of the ep, they are idiots, they have to recognize the fact that it's just a freep sampler and not an official cd.

Just to let you guys know, these aren't really "the studio versions" of "Non-Entity" and "Not So Pretty Now". They're rehearsal cuts for the 2009 tour, made in 2009. Done in studio.

Basically.
Live versions, without any audience sounds in the background.

As heard live.

There's a good chance that no "album versions" or true legit original "studio versions" of these songs were ever made at all. Demos maybe, but they'll probably remain scrapped and unreleased for quite some time, and may actually never be released.

The originals were made back in 2005/2006. These clearly say "2009." Which means these aren't THE (original) studio versions. Just rehearsal versions that were RECENTLY done in studio.

Wrong.

That made my Day... Must suck to get your ass handed to you by Trent. You know you must be a total douche bag if Trent felt the need to correct you.

Trent is really cool, but he's not "Our Lord Corrector"

regarding knowledge about his own recordings, i'd say he is.

03/21/09 2:08 PM

Um...this is off the subject, but I clicked on Trent's profile and just notice that in the GENDER section he has it blank...um,...you would think he would know if he's a man or a woman or something. Or perhaps it just don't matter to him. You would think he would have filled in that question, it only take a second or two to type in the word male.
P.S. "watch" somebody get mad at me for pointing that out. 'Whatever'

Download link took forever to be sent to my e-mail, but now that I gave both "Not So Pretty Now" and "Non Entity" three spins, I'm REALLY liking them.

I wasn't really interested in Jane's Addiction, so I'm only listening to NIN. Trent sounds far younger than I'd anticipate in the recordings, so I'm supposing this is pre-With Teeth. I can see why they may not have made the final With Teeth cut, they seem just as great if they were stand alone like they are. The two singles made my day basically, it's old music, but still new in my eyes.
