I don't know but it hurts to think it may be the end...I don't want NIN to disappear. At all. But I guess Trent deserves a break, the man works his ass off. I just hope this isn't the last we hear from him. I'd like to think that even if NIN goes away, he'll still be around, blessing us with some other medium. At least I hope he will. Only time will tell.

Trent IS Nine Inch Nails...anything he does will still be Nine Inch Nails...unless he starts doing shit music...I really don't see Trent changing musical styles...especially when Nine Inch Nails has been so diverse with it's sounds (to an extent, save feel, but definitely not constained.)

So most likely, if NIN goes away then that will mean that Trent will sit around either getting fat or preparing for the end of the world.

by getting fat. tongue sticking out smiley jk

Yeah I can't see him changing styles either but when you look at how diverse NIN is, you never know. I just hope he doesn't get out of music altogether, not that I think he'd be able to stay away very long...music is his life. Or at least it has been for quite some time.

LOL - 'Waving Goodbye'?

Congrats to Mr. Trent Reznor for picking the absolute, most dramatic tour name EVER.

Might as well named it 'Goodbye Forever and Get Your Razor Blades Out' Tour.

04/30/09 9:07 PM

I was sad when I saw it too but as someone else have said maybe it's just because it's NIN 20th anniversary?

Won't we look like idiots if that's the case?

Yeah, we will.

You know that Trent is probably just messing with all of the people that think NIN is going away forever.

04/30/09 9:21 PM

Wave Goodbye Tour???

"Wave, wave, wave....WAVE GOODBYE".

Isn't it bizarre how one of the first, and rarest NIN lyrics is also the name to the final NIN tour??

I've already said my goodbyes, by seeing my first, and probably sadly, ONLY NIN show last year in LITS. (Also my first concert ever). No tour date anywhere near me, but that's perfectly fine with me. That show in 2008 was the best I could possibly fathom. Nine Inch Nails in musically, the most up-to-date fashion with songs from every major album Trent's made in 20 years. THAT, along with being opened for by the only other band I listen to, Boris (Japanese band), on the same damn stage. The extra kicker is that the first time I even heard of Boris WAS live, and how they rarely even tour over in America.

Can't beat that, so I'm still very satisfied. thumbs upthumbs up

04/30/09 10:22 PM

I'm surprised no one has acknowledged that "Wave goodbye" is a lyric from "Now I'm Nothing" (the song that opened NIN's sets last time they played with Jane's).

EDIT: well, someone got it... (post just above me)

Trent is really a fallen angel in disguise and while here on earth in human form he has had a change of heart and he is now trying to make his way back into heaven, because he no longer wants the world to burn because he fell in love.

Oh how love can cause even the greatest of the fallen ones to look upward.

Actually kind of fitting for NiN.

Leave it to Reznor to heap on the melodrama. But looking at that date at the bottom, it looks like he might be retiring "Nine Inch Nails" as we know it. After 20 years, it might be understandable considering he's come a long way from being that 29-year-old trussed up in fishnets and vinyl.

See, that's the downside of having a one-man band. Reznor IS NiN, so obviously the band can't break up, but I guess HE can break up with the name.

I don't think he has it in him to do NOTHING, he's way too powerful of a creative force, but he's admitted his most inspired times are dark times, and his life seems to be going pretty well right now. He can enjoy it if he wants to. Relaxed camera policy means footage to remember him by will be EVERYWHERE. Though I gotta say I'll be leaving my camera at home during the show I'm going to. I don't want anything to distract me from enjoying the moment.

I will say this, I'll miss this site. It'll be a wasteland without any goings-on to niggle over for 30 pages.

btw, trent fell in love with chicken...he will now dedicate the rest of his life into turning chicken into a source of eternal youth. he asked me not to tell, but I'm just so excited...you've got to be pretty batshit insane to not like chicken!

I'm really hoping we see those logos on some merch.

They are going to sing a duet called "Starcluckers Inc."

I am the plaything of the gods of timing.

I get into RATM right after they're relevant.

I become a Chris Cornell fan right before "Scream" is released (I am subsequently banned from the forum for being vocal about my dislike for the album)

Now I'm a NiN fan and he's about to hang up that mantle and do something else.

Yesh. I feel bad for all the kids like me who were just getting into things.

Yeah I know, I'm going through the catalog, but it's like reading a book when you've already peeked at the ending, ya know? Granted, this seems to be a happy ending.

Yes this is very said but calling it wave goodbye pretty much means he has to play A-With The Teeth-A, right?

I think "wave goodbye" may just mean "We're going away for now, but someday we'll be back". I doubt we're going to see the last of Nine Inch Nails and/or Trent Reznor during this tour. Like the man himself said, he was thinking about making Nine Inch Nails disappear for a while, so that may be exactly what he's doing.

I suppose another possible answer could be this: Trent is going to take his music in another direction. Nine Inch Nails, for the past twenty years, has been fairly straightforward, even with the more "out there" albums (take your pick of whichever album you think is "out there"winking smiley. Perhaps Trent doesn't want to do what's expected of him and do something even more "out there". Maybe we've seen the last of the hard rock Nine Inch Nails, or the quiet Nine Inch Nails? Fact is, we won't know until Trent/Nine Inch Nails comes out with something, whatever it may be.

But yeah, I doubt this is THE END. Who knows? Maybe this is only the half way point.

I donno man. That dash looks pretty final.

And that graphic looks like the beginning and end of a road.

Maybe "Nine Inch Nails" has run it's course and whatever Trent does next should be considered a different thing.

The last concerts (LITS tour) completely blew my mind and left me all....ninned out, so I'm not gonna make it this tour, but I'm sure Trent will be back.
