Ok...Trent is taking a break from touring! He is not done making music!

Im 100% on that too.

Just go on youtube and type in NIN Perez interview.

there is the link to the interview

TR basically says that hes done touring for a while.

He will still put out a new album.

05/26/09 11:42 PM

He talked the way threw with his hands! ;p

05/31/09 10:32 PM

i sure hope that this is not the end. but if it is, I am sure he will still be around doing other things for our enjoyment.

06/01/09 5:24 PM

i was lucky enough to catch three lits shows last year ct, nh and ma. i will also be going to the mainsfield show on wendsday. im gonna rock out as hard as i can cause its they,re last tour for a while and not as long of a set as lits. they played 27 songs @ mohegan and son and are only doin like 18 this tour i hope its not the end. nin is by far the best live band i have ever seen and probally ever will see.

06/02/09 8:01 AM

I for one am getting sick of these threads.
But for my 2 cents, TR is just gonna take a break from touring. He's still gonna make music. Trent can't *not* make music. It's in his blood. He's a music god.

06/02/09 11:21 PM

Do you guys realize that if he takes a break for even a few years, by the time its over Trent will almost be 50? My guess is we may hear some soundtrack work or instrumental work once or twice during the "break" and of course Trent will always lurk the NIN.com boards, but other than that, I don't think we'll ever see NIN again.

Even if that is the case, and we never see NIN again, I still respect Trent's choice and honestly it's understandable. Twenty years of backbreaking work, depression, and addiction obviously takes its toll, and for us to bitch and moan about him taking a break is really unreasonable. As sad as it makes me to wave goodbye to Nine Inch Nails, I still respect all the music of the past, and anything that may come out in the future. The band simply means and has meant too much to me for any trivial shit to get in the way.

07/02/09 3:40 PM

It is the end it seems - sadly....as Trent said live on stage at his last US show that it was last time NIN would be playing live in AMerica......it's the beginning of the end.....What a year.....Ministry retire, Jacko dies (2 weeks before I was planned to see him live)....and now my favourite band of all time has anounced they too are calling it a day....NIN will be missed - I hope the re-birth is "Trent Reznor" (even though he alone was NIN) but as a solo artist - I am also expecting the industrial to go (otherwise he would have kept NIN) - I predict going off the last few years a continue of the Acoustic side. Or maybe he will go into Producing only....who knows. but Trent is a workaholic so he won't go.....but please Trent tell us what "Wave Goodbye" means.....the end or a break?

What does his age have to do with it? He could do one off shows, festival headline slots (it seems that generally when you come back after a break you are bigger than you were in the first place. Look at RATM, even at the height of their career they'd've never headlined Reading and Leeds) etc.

those of you who are afraid he'll retire for good should listen to this long and actual interview for a german radiostation: [download.radioeins.de]

he's full of ideas for the future, so there's no need to worry.

07/03/09 11:35 PM

who gives a shit how old he is or is going to be? He loves to make music, if he wants to keep doing NIN and touring he will lol. Its that simple. Most of the members in Tool are near 50 and they're about do another fuck off tour.
If metallica can do it, anyone can. haha

07/06/09 8:15 PM

i always loved all the nin-logos and arts of albums and shirts (mostly), but the "jj" logo is the ugliest in my opinion what they ever created to sell on a nin tshirt. i was really excited of a new and maybe last tshirt to buy, but i couldn't spend my money for that!!!!!! what do you think

07/07/09 5:21 PM

The tour is almost over... And isn't it supposed to be their last? What are they going to do next?

07/07/09 5:32 PM

Well it looks like Trent can't bring himself to call it quits

07/07/09 6:16 PM

Let´s just see what happens.

Maybe, aside from needing a break (a happy one, not time off dealing with addictions and whatnot), he´s decided to stop calling "Nine Inch Nails" what we all know is not really a band, but a person. And he thinks the band thing has run it´s course.

I also get the feeling the same way he´s done with the label model, he is trying to break free from the constant touring thing.

I´d appreciate if he wasn´t so unclear about his intentions, because sometimes I feel he is just toying with the emotions of his rabid fandom.

But really, only he knows. Maybe not even he knows. Let´s just wait.

(There´s stuff to do aside from being in this site, wondering all the time, you know...)

NIN stop to exist? thats my worst nightmare , that would be the end of my world!!

07/11/09 5:34 AM

wave goodbye, my arse ...

its the "going to have a break .. but watch this space tour"

and I can't wait to see what he does next

07/11/09 12:25 PM

Thanks to Dori we can listen to his ideas. He said he needs a rest and who can blame him. Could anyone of us continue performing on stage like Trent, more or less every night, for the duration he's doing??? I don't think so. Trent well deserves a longggg break.

I, too, don't think he's stop totally as it's in his blood, it's the only thing Trent knows-writing, singing and performing, but he needs to experiment with things outside-as he said. He'll be back smiling smiley Stig1966 is right ....

I didn't know he was engaged!-good luck to them both.

I really hope they'll come back. I REALLY really hope they'll come back. I would die if they didn't. Literally, I would die. I'm not a crazy fan or anything, I'm serious.

07/14/09 11:59 AM

It's been said before but I found this interview (via Pitchwork) and Trent makes it clear that it NIN only stops touring (which allows time and focus on other things. NIN. collaborations. Etc. read it yourself). Wave Goodbye is no end at all and it is only matter about time before NIN hits the road again (probably within 5-8 years but who knows).

Trent also describes how it feels for him to perform some of the songs from the downward spiral. Interesting reading.

Wave Goodbye Tour???

"Wave, wave, wave....WAVE GOODBYE".

Isn't it bizarre how one of the first, and rarest NIN lyrics is also the name to the final NIN tour??

I've already said my goodbyes, by seeing my first, and probably sadly, ONLY NIN show last year in LITS. (Also my first concert ever). No tour date anywhere near me, but that's perfectly fine with me. That show in 2008 was the best I could possibly fathom. Nine Inch Nails in musically, the most up-to-date fashion with songs from every major album Trent's made in 20 years. THAT, along with being opened for by the only other band I listen to, Boris (Japanese band), on the same damn stage. The extra kicker is that the first time I even heard of Boris WAS live, and how they rarely even tour over in America.

Can't beat that, so I'm still very satisfied. thumbs upthumbs up

Wow... Mine, and your story are exactly the same...
Saw the show in Minneapolis (a show that should have never happened for me, but it did)

I'm perfectly fine with this end.
(of course I wouldn't have minded seeing the NIN/JA tour)

After five years of virtually constant touring, they deserve a break. As fans we've been incredibly blessed in that respect. And more time in the studio allows Trent to do what he does best, come up with new and influential music that he can share with us. And in a few years, who knows.

07/17/09 5:13 PM

Sure, he's said hes done touring, but what about playing live full stop? I wouldnt be suprised if he still did random shows, but the lengthy tours hes been doing for the past 3 years are an obvious no-no, hes got life to live.

I`m quite sure, this is not the end!
All of us, have lived with NIN for years! and we trust Trent and his decisions, so I believe if he says "dispersing for awhile" it is the best way! On the other hand he needs some breaks.
He will come back more great than before, and we are supposed to wait and LOVE NIN! like ever.

VIVA NIN!

I truelly hope Trent has something up his sleeve here. If this is the last of NIN i will be seeing in my young life I will be so bummed out. I just graduated high school and moved out of my strict christian household (obviously Im not christian) last year and have been ANXIOUSLY awaiting a chance to see my favorite band (obviously NIN) live for the first time. Right now Im penniless and wouldnt be able to attend the only location nearest me on the tour list. I really hope Im not gonna miss my last chance to see Nine Inch Nails. Trent if you can see this: (dramatic effect) PLEASE DONT LEAVE US!
Although he does deserve a break, mans been kicking ass for 20 years. But please make it a little break? Come back soon! Also, congrats on the dramatic name of your tour. "Wave Goodbye"? I could almost tear up at the thought. :'(

So long NIN you'll be sorely missed,
Sarah

This is quoted from the interview from the link u gave. (and thank u for posting)
No, I see what you mean. What I specifically said or meant to convey is that NIN as a touring live band or live band that’s on the road all the time is stopping. I’ve just reached the point ... where it has invaded every other aspect of my life. Also I think creatively, my time would be better spent on other stuff that could be NIN or outside NIN. Some of it may be collaborative things. I have a number of projects that are not music-related which I have put on the back burner for a long time...
It does say he'll continue to make NIN music (Thank U God!), but he doesn't say anything about touring in no time or 5-8 years. I think the dudes burnt out on touring. I mean think of how pissed folks would be if he were like. U paid shit loads of money to see me wave good bye and here i am again! People would be pissed. I wouldn't. I'd be like awesome! I mean I feel u, I hope he's back out there in 5-8.

I'm glad Trent is going to still make music and that's good enough for me.

Yeah, I agree.

I'm thankful that i've been able to see them in concert on a few different tours, and the fact that Trent will still be making music is awesome thumbs up
