I bought the flight ticket and fly across the pacific ocean to see NIN play at my home country. Taiwan is not like Japan which many bands will visit ocassionally. And most importantly this is the VERY FUCKING LAST TOUR!!!

The probelm seems to be on the promoter's side, they did not know how to run a big festival and concert and almost broken after some events this year. Music fans in Taiwan love soft stuff. brit-pop/indie is the way to go for many independent music fans. For example, Mew just left Taiwan and they sold more tickets than NIN, in the same venue. So my guess is that perhaps they have to cancel the show to stop financial loss. That's the rumor I heard from some local people.

I Believe Trent is not a guy to cancel a show without any serious reason. The promoter did not specifically explain nothing so far. It's a pity that people in Taiwan don't have a chance see them play live. Some of my friends in Taiwan have been waiting for more than 10 years.

Maybe there're not too many Taiwanese here, but it totally sucks. I feel sooooo sad especially I scored nothing for the LA final shows......

I can't agree with you more....

This really sucks, and the promoter seems doesn't want to explain...

I'm so sad and angry right now. I've been a NIN fan for ten years. It makes me cry when thinking that I will never have a chance to see NIN in my life....

I can't even begin to describe how depressed I am. I've been a NIN fan for 14 years (since I was 14!!) and have never seen Trent live sad smiley I lived at the END of Canada (way out in the middle of nowhere east) and now I live in the middle of no where Asia. The news that NIN was coming here was the most incredible news ever. I'm so crushed that I'm never going to get to see NIN live. Why didn't I buy tickets for Singapore??????

I'm considering going broke to try to see the Seoul show. I found tickets for around 22,000NTD but I can't find a way to get tickets in English from the seller's website sad smiley kljdflskdfjksdfjldskfjsldkfjlskdfjsdklf

22,000 NTD$ Do it dude. It will be worth it. (unless that show gets cancelled too...sigh...) Where in Taiwan are you now? I'm up in Jhongli... I'm Canadian also... I'm so bummed out by this too... but at least I had a chance to see them a couple of years ago... So dude, GO. TO. KOREA.

Hmm...they probably had to cancel due to the typhoon that slammed into Taiwan. Ya know, for safety reasons, that's all! Don't want to get swept out to sea now!

08/08/09 9:25 AM

KTBee: The typhoon has already passed Taiwan and it wasn't such a bad one.

08/08/09 9:36 AM

I finally get a chance to see my favorite band live and they fuck out? What's the story? Can't straigthmusichouse give a better explanation than "production and venue issues". The venue seemed to be fine, so I assume it straightmusichouse's production issues. Pity the production company organizing the Linkin Park gig can't take over!

Any chance of the tour coming back this way???

typhoon did not stop us form seeing NIN live. It reminds me of their song "We're In This Together" as we brave though the gusting winds just to see them perform live.

long live the NIN!

God, guys, i'm so sorry for you - the people there and the people traveling.

08/08/09 12:02 PM

was already to fire up and rant but.....really, i'm speechless.
i have traveled the better part of 7000klms to see that show and the only concession i have, and i know its not a small one, is that i'll be at fort canning park in singapore on monday night. just one of those things i guess cause kinda too late to do much of anything about it now.

bring on monday night!!!

08/08/09 1:19 PM

Well shit happens. We love you Trent.

08/08/09 3:04 PM

Wow. I can't even imagine if you were planning a trip to see this. Originally when it was "the last NIN show ever", it would have been annoying enough as a North American to have planned a trip around the world to see this last show, only to find out it really wasn't the last show, and you could have stayed in North America for that. But oh well, at least you still get to see NIN near the end, right? Wrong. That sucks. Hard. With all these snafus that are popping up at the end, I'm starting to wish it all ended with LITS. This last bit is turning a bit sour, unfortunately.

08/08/09 4:25 PM

this must suck soooo bad for people with tickets :|

im sorry for you guys sad smiley

08/08/09 8:56 PM

I am reassured that nothing is definite in this world. One can only hope that they will come this way again. I am sorry Taiwan. It truly is a sad day.

08/08/09 10:46 PM

well FUCK!I'm from australia, In singapore atm to see them tomory night but I have bought non refundable accommodation and flights to this concert,at least trent wasn't the one who fucked us over, looks like I'm having a very expensive short holiday in taipei then.hope they blow me away tomorrow night in singapore.thanks soo much to all the kind people in the taipei thread for helping out a useless tourist though.

08/08/09 11:07 PM

Damn, I had butterflies when I started reading that. Just had a show get canceled that I'd been looking forward to quite a bit...had a bad feeling that might be #2.

I'm very, very sorry for you guys. That absolutely sucks.

08/09/09 12:33 AM

Oh no, this is devastating. I almost bought tickets for the Singapore show months ago but when they announced the Taipei one I decided to go for that one instead. I've been looking forward to this for so long, I heard about the typhoon so I was just checking to see if there was any news about it here and then bang...cancelled.

I saw you last in Hong Kong, it was honestly the best show I've seen. It's true that the music scene here is useless - local concerts get huge turnouts but something harder like NIN would get a very low show. However, it's the only option we expats have of seeing our favourites.

Man, after thinking about this show every day for months just waiting for it to finally happen...

08/09/09 1:08 AM

Damn. It's just beginning to sink in for me what a big deal this cancellation is. Not for me so much as I am already here in Taiwan (not that I'm not totally saddened by it) but for what it meant for other people.

The tickets went on sale in May. At the time, the August 12th show was listed as being the last live NIN show possibly ever. Now for people living outside of Taiwan, seeing not only the last NIN show of a tour but possibly the last NIN show ever, that's a pretty big deal. So, many people scraped together money to book hotels and flights to see something that would have been, to us fans, really special. I think, considering the following that NIN has, there should have been some anticipation that there would be people flying out for the final NIN concert. I'm sure people who were flying out for the concert didn't plan on flying out to Taiwan at the last minute... They would have had to have planned this probably months in advance. That's a lot of money for some people. At least, it certainly would be for me.

My point is, this is not just a matter which can be solved by refunding tickets and saying sorry for any 'inconvenience' because flying all the way to Taiwan for a show and to just have it canceled 4 days before the show is more than just an inconvenience. On the site where tickets can be purchased, (tickets can no longer be purchased within 7 days of the show..so they aren't being sold there) there is not even a posting as to the cancellation of the show. There are no add from Straight House Music, that I have seen, announcing the cancellation and unless you are checking nin.com regularly, it is unlikely people will be easily aware of the cancellation just as it wasn't easy for people to become aware of the concert when it was first announced. I really hope that Straight House steps up and really puts it out in the news so perhaps other people, who might still have the chance to cancel flights to Taiwan can do so.

This morning, I went down to the train station and 2 record stores still had posters up for the show. And yes, they were both open yesterday, so this wasn't a matter of them having not being open yesterday because of the typhoon ( I asked.) I went in and had them check straighthousemusic.com ... They weren't even aware that the show had been canceled. I can't speak for NIN, but I would put money down that they are not pleased with how this has affected a lot of people.

C'mon Straight House, get off your asses and put the word out!

08/09/09 1:24 AM

Hey, to all the people that will be in Taipei this peculiar night, how about making something positive out of it and meet somewhere in the city ?
OK, so NIN won't be there, but we will anyway. I'd be curious to hear the nin stories of everybody.

08/09/09 1:53 AM

I am up to anything you guys want to do, when arriving to Taipei.
I've been living in this shitty country for 7 year, and I can tell I was expecting something like this from the promoter company.

I have sent email messages directly to the people involved on this concert, here in Taipei, and we didn't receive any answer from them. Another funny thing, the company in charge of selling the tickets, doesn't work during weekends and their 0800 number is down...

I did a research on StraightMusic, and they had a history of loosing money on concerts and then doing this kind of shitty tactics for some shows. The question is, not that they are giving back the money, but how they used that money for other purposes until now.

For the people who has to come to Taipei, let's arrange something that day and celebrate as true NIN fans!

08/09/09 2:21 AM

Yes, I agree, lets do something on this day instead. Otherwise I'll probably just be in a depressed sulking state ;-)
Here's a rough idea:
We could meet at Longshan station and then check out Longshan temple, and Hauxi night market, and if we want something else can hop back on train and go to Ximending.
We could meet at 5pm at Longshan station if that suits? I'll pm scissortail and ciro_ayala as they expressed interest here. Will also put this in Singapore thread.
Pls come along if your in the area :-)

That totally sucks... My friends and I were so looking forward to seeing you guys in Taipei on Wednesday. We had been planning for this concert for months. I am so glad that I flew out to Hong Kong a couple years back to see you... But this would have been the perfect end to the summer. I guess Taiwan will never have their chance to see you guys perform.. Good luck in the future, Trent!

I like you. This totally sucks for you guys but instead of coming in here shouting insults at everyone, you're taking this like a reasonable person. A lot of people could learn from you!

I'm very sorry for those who had planned to see this show, though!

Timely...! smiling smiley

I live here and I'm down with meeting up. I'd like to do something instead of feel sorry for myself all night. Longshan and Snake Alley (Hauxi night market) are a great idea.

08/09/09 6:26 AM

Just signed up to say somethin.

I am jack's disappointed nutsack, that just got kicked instead of licked.

This was thee most depressing news possible this weekend. Like someone just said in a larger post, my girlfriend and I have been planning this since June and barely scraped the money together in time to get tickets and everything set! I even had to make her pay half. But she was totally willing! When I met her she was already a big Deftones and Marilyn Manson fan, for some reason she'd never heard of NIN and so needless to say she's fallen in love and NIN has been a big part of our relationship. When I told her about this, she was as excited as me. We've been giddy about it this the past week as it's gotten closer. *sighhh*

I've only seen them once. Almost ten years ago. After that they didn't tour forever and when they started back up I started moving around and ended up in ASIA. So I've been missing all these amazing tours of my favorite fucking band and it's been killing me. When I found out this was going to be the "last" tour, there was nothing that was going to stop me. I made it happen and I was pretty proud of myself.

We're in Bangkok, Thailand. We could've gone to the Singapore show, would rather have gone to Singapore for lots of reasons, Taiwan has never been on my list of places to GO, BUT the Taipei concert just HAPPENED to coincide with the beginning of a long weekend here. So rather than miss work and get docked, it was cheaper to fly a little father away. And fuck it, it's Nine Inch Nails! I would watch em at the TAIPEI Landfill if I could get there!

Anyway. The super shitty part of this is--I don't know yet if we'll be able to get a refund on our tickets. Probably not, but the agency wants to talk to the airline first about "conditions." But right there you have a paradox: BECAUSE we go for the cheapest tickets possible (implying we don't have much money), we leave our asses hanging out the most making us liable to be screwed, whereas if you buy full price then your ass is covered and you'll get a refund no problem, when for you "money's just a thang!" Oh the Irony. That's not the super shitty part. The super shitty part is the agency can't talk to the airlines til tomorrow and IF they did give us a refund, we probably wouldn't get the money back in time to say Fuck Work and book the flight to SINGAPORE and do that show INSTEAD! If they had announced this travesty a day or two earlier, it might've given me enough fucking time to get my shit worked out and NOT HAVE A COMPLETE LIFE-SUCKING LOSS ON MY HANDS. RRRRRRRRRGH!

God this sucks the big one. Anyway, if we can't get a refund on flights/accommadtion and all that, it looks like we'll be flyin out there on Wednesday. If you guys wanna meet up...you can probably count us in. It could be fun. We've been moping ALL Weekend here, having some smidgen of a positive experience come out of this might be nice.

Thanks for reading this if you did. I really wish Trent, Straight House, whoever knew what a big blow this was to the hearts and minds of some of us and could do something to make us feel better. I really really wish it. It physically hurts to think this was our one (last) chance. Too bad to be true. Too bad to be true.

peace

kj

I guess I should also say THANK YOU real quick to the people in the Taiwan concert Thread. I've been followin it since I found it back whenever and you guys were really helpful. Lot's of good info there and planning this (bust of a) trip wouldn't have been as easy if it weren't for you guys and gals. Especially that guy who just posted all those pics on the venue, that was really cool, hats off to you man. My heart would go out to all of you if it wasn't already feelin what you're feeling Right Here! Keep your chin up guys, and let's all hope that Trent turns out to be a typical rocker in one respect and has a reunion tour in a few years or so. Cheers.

Yesterday, August 8, was my mother's funeral in Tainan, yes, day of the typhoon. Now we are in the south, Kaohsiung and Kenting, for four days of "vacation", howling winds and torrential rains...We just found out the NIN concert( six tickets bought in March sent to Paris, France where we live) is cancelled for Wednesday...this absolutely SUCKS. We were looking forward to this last concert as fans and as an exceptional event for Taipei and Taiwan. For those who decided to cancel the show, if this is a question of money over music, SHAME ON YOU.
