I've tried a couple of times and just can't make it through the whole video. ("Ew" effect.) Anybody have a couple of songs they'd like to recommend that I can listen to on Last.fm or Imeem?

Well, this video just isn't as interesting as say a "Closer" or "Perfect Drug" or "Heart-Shaped Box" video where there is a lot of intriguing imagery. Those Horrors guys just looked very generic dressed all in black against that colorful butterfly background.

Yah, not really big on that song. Kinda monotonous and uninteresting. The video looks to be really poorly done but there is always a thing called budget. It just seems like that video has taken a step back into a time when music videos were first becoming popular. But thats only one song and I only listened once. I usually have to listen to things several times over to appreciate it. Problem is I dont think I want to hear that again. Hmmm...Ill give it a couple of days and try again.

I checked them out today, and they don't do anything for me...

Wait, stop for a second. I missed something. When in the hell did a religious debate enter this thread?

When Trent made an appeal to Jesus. Ha ha. How much black and white context does it need to be in?

wow, the Horrors really bring people together.

All of you are fucking ridiculous. This is exactly why I never got into the social networking, chat room, Twitter bullshit. And a preemptive “F” you to anyone who calls me out for posting in a thread. It is very, very seldom.

It' so cool to hate on Trent these days, I don't know how we managed with just dissing Bush.

You mean I can't still use my "Bush is the Antichrist" bumper sticker and T-shirt anymore?

Is it too early to blame everything on Obama yet? sad smiley

Bush had to work very hard to get as unpopular as be became. He had to screw up the economy, squander an unprecedented moment of national unity by invading the wrong country under provably false pretenses, make torture, rendition, and domestic spying part of our "Greatest Country in the World" make-up, get re-elected on a platform of fear, let Katrina drown New Orleans, decry any criticism as traitorous, gut the Justice and State and Labor departments, alienate our allies and engage in dangerous brinksmanship with our enemies, and turn a blind eye to the failures of his own philosophy.

Obama has been in office for less then a year, and at the moment, he is STILL our best chance for righting at least some of our overflowing pile of wrongs. He's the most gifted politician to rise in decades, but not since FDR has a president had to deal with more problems right out of the gate, and FDR didn't have our skittish, hyper-partisan legislature, cable/radio loudmouth fear-mongers, the trillion-dollar special interest lobbies and their professional staff expertly rattling the public.

I'm willing to give our current President the benefit of the doubt for now. The euphoric honeymoon may be over, but that had to happen eventually anyway. Lets have something real and concrete to blame him for before we abandon the last guy who might just be able to fix things.

The whole US situation is going to head in a way that it has over here in the UK. Tony Blair left the uk in such a shit mess that theres no possible way Gordon Brown will be able to clean it all up. Because of that, Brown will never be considered a good PM, even though in reality, he's doing as good a job that anyone else could to try and get the UK back on its feet.

The same thing will apply to Bush/Obama. Do you really think Obama can clean up all that mess Bush had made? He'll be lucky if he can get through half of the problems causes by Bush before he is forced to leave office.

I have not read the whole thread, I just read that Trent deleted the previous thread for this because of bad comments about the band. I'll just say that I understand why some people may think that he shouldn't have done it, but I guess that he posted the new video from The Horrors to promote and help them, and if a lot of the comments were negative it's obvious that he wouldn't be helping the band very much. So I completely understand why he would delete that thread, if he told to the band that he would help them with some promotion and the results are bad comments about them, it equals to bad promotion and that could be bad for the band that he tried to help.

It's not necessary to be an Einstein to see that deleting said thread was the right thing to do if he really wanted to be helpful to The Horrors, you don't invite somebody to your house and allow your family to talk badly about your guests.

I could be wrong of course, I've not read the comments of the other thread or all the posts here.

There's an easy solution to this- just post a link to The Horrors new video on the home page and not start a thread about it on this site. If it's on Youtube, then people can discuss it there and not have it linked to nin.com.

The Horrors are quite good. I'd give my left nut to see them along with NIN. Then again, I saw NIN with Alec Empire and Mew, which was pretty fucking sweet as well.

Nice video, but my favourite from these guys is still She Is The New Thing, mainly because I'm such an animation nut.

She is the New Thing is such a cool video! I think the person must have printed the live-action reference footage out on paper and animated directly onto that, from the looks of things with ink and paint. Must have made a glorious mess. God I LOVE hand-drawn animation effects!

WHATEVER PEOPLE!!!In my opinion Trent has the best taste in music I've ever encountered,if you think you're so smart in criticizing his "Ear For Music" then I suppose I can't stop you from doing so,but in the past since nin started I noticed throughout the years that Trent's liked the same bands that I liked back in the '90's,so I suppose that if Trent's got a "True Ear For Music" then chances are that I do as well, but I understand music views vary & we can't all have the same opinion, this is just my view on the 1st statement posted in this forum page mentioning Trent's opinion about "The Horrors" single:"Mirror's Image",I listened to it & watched the video & I LOVE IT!!!So all of you people can suck his dick for all I care, cuz Trent&Co.rule the "Music World",MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!lolz!!!the finger smiley

P.S.Trent I FUCKING LOVE YOU,YOU ROCK MY WORD HARDER THAN ANY OTHER ROCK STAR!!!the finger smiley

1st I thought that you were joking...then an uncomfortable suspicion crept up on my spine: what if you were being serious?
Ok...so you say you understand that "music views vary", then you flame and encourage people to suck Trent's dick since he has "True Ear For Music" and they rule the music world. Wow...just WOW!
I wanna be like you, demontrent10653! I wanna be as open-minded and as appreciative with other people's opinion just like you!
HAIL THE HORRORS FOR TRENT'S SAKE! What are you people waiting for?????? You don't like them? Eh, nonsense! What's there not to like? You dare say it is shit/crap??? Why using dirty words like that? This is the site of Nine Inch Nails FFS as Rob said once, not the Jonas Borthers'!!!!!! Oh, wait....

LOOOOOVE this band beyond belief at this point. I was a fan of Strange House and was a little weirded out when Sea within a sea was released but Primary Colours is an amazing album.
Not getting to see them with NIN, but two TX dates are in my future now that Placebo cancelled their tour.

And umm...FUCKING MOTHERLICKER.
Just so this post flows with the rest of the thread convo.

Yeah, but he probably didn't think that people here would bash this band.

you're totally right, i agree with you... but in my opinion the thing that really started the whole "riot" was trent's reaction. he kind of overreacted and we just couldn't stop talking about it.

guess it's our fault, too.

anyway... so far, between this thread and the other one that got deleted, the worst thing i read about the horrors is what snoop wrote. yes, to define "crap" someone's music certainly is not a well mannered way to express your point of view but it's not like being a troll or bashing anyone.

What if, just what if, the other thread WASN'T deleted because people weren't properly differential to TR's new favorite group. What if he actually thinks we ARE entitled to our opinions, so long as we keep it civil, and the other thread was deleted for some OTHER reason?

Just throwing that out there.

The other thread was deleted probably because it has been derailed. It turned into an internet fight, because people seem not to be able to discuss like adults here. That's my theory. BTW, some people said TR overreacted a little, they're not wrong, but it's nothing compared to some overreactions from NIN.com members insinuating TR is some kind of dictator. Everyone expresses their views here and they didn't get banned for that.

08/19/09 5:59 AM

They have catchy tunes but the repetition and the bands voice just gives me a headache.

On that note...this and the other thread so totally should have been archived for entertainments sake cool smiley

KEEP YOUR GUB'MENT HANDS OFF MY MEDICARE.... Oh wait, NIN forums... sorry I heard a lot of screaming and thought this was a health care town hall.

08/19/09 11:41 AM

The name of the band is what kind of throws me back. Then again, I haven't actually heard any of their music so I have no idea if they're any good. The name just seems really tacky.

08/19/09 12:00 PM

Trent should talk to these guys about music promotion. I pretty much get all of my music exposure through the ZunePass program, ($15/mo, listen to all you want, keep 10 permanently and others are on subscription only.) These guys charge for all their shit on that program though. Could be a record label issue, I dunno, but I'll probably never listen to them now because I only listen to music on my MP3 during workouts and such.

08/19/09 1:18 PM

I've given the video a few watches now and it's definitely a grower as opposed to being a stand-out, obvious song. I like some things about it, I think that underneath the 'weirdness' of the track there's a fairly decent melody lurking within the bass, drums and guitar--especially the minimal guitar solo about half way through, that really seems to work for me. What doesn't work for me is the hideously repetitive keyboard and the dude's vocals, I can't stand his voice. It's dull and really blights the music.

But that's just me, I think it's cool that TR is backing some of his friends/preferred bands out by giving them some exposure; I think the Horrors are pretty lucky to have him backing them like this.
