WorzelG posted:^^^ I read an interview, which I can't find again, where Garson said that Trent didn't use the songs he'd played on because his style was too distinctive with Bowie, - Garson then said the music with his playing would make a great instrumental CD for him (Garson), if Trent were to produce it for him - but Trent is a busy guy! What is he supposed to do? Go in there and demand Trent record an album for him? I don't think he was lacking in decisiveness, but it is a big thing to ask of somebody, I don't think it would be something so massive selling it would pay for itself, it would be for the 'Art' of it!
You're misinterpreting Garson's interview.
He's saying Trent brought him in and was all, "Here, play some piano on these songs I'm working on," and Garon's all, "Fuck yeah, why not?"
And then he did it and Trent was all, "Okay that's really not what I'm looking for, thanks though, I can use some of it."
It's not like Garson went in there and was working on entirely different songs. For all we know, there's merely some deleted piano bits from fuckin' Into The Void or Please or some shit. What Garson is saying is that if you took the vocals out of Please (just an example, I doubt he played on Please) and mixed his piano back in and removed some other elements it would be pretty cool.
