I can't wait to read an update with all the details regarding the reissue.

"Ultimate" - it's gotta be good. A package similar to Ghosts would be ideal, with the extended version of the album (incorporating Appendage, 10 Miles High, The New Flesh, etc.). The New Flesh "A" and "B" could be included too, although possibly on a b-sides disc. I'm not at all bothered about remixes... I would also love some stuff that none of us have heard before - but how likely that is, I dunno. Excited!

I'm so damn excited for this. I was giving TF another full listen yesterday, and it just reminded me how much I can't wait for this. smiling smiley

It'd be interesting to see the package consist of:

- The Fragile (in it's vinyl version track listing) remastered (which is obviously going to be the case)

Supplemental content in one or two BluRay discs consisting of:

- The Fragile in high-definition 96/24 stereo (which will obviously happen)
- Music videos in high definition (which will probably also be the case)
- A documentary about recording the record
- Things Falling Apart remastered in high-definition 96/24 stereo.
- And All That Could Have Been in hi-def with NO disc break
- Alternate and demoed versions of tracks
- Multi-tracks of the whole record (which will most likely also happen)

The ultra limited edition deluxe version could come with a locket of Trent's hair, some dirt from Nothing Studios and a bag of shit from one of Trent's grey hounds. Of course, this would have to be signed and numbered by Trent, members of NIN Live's Fragility line-up and everyone credited on the album, including former manager John Malm.

Im not sure a whole blu-ray package will be in the best interests as i dont think its quite the major medium of our days just yet. I was wondering what these packages will do to the current price of TF vinyls.
Im pretty sure there will be vinyl included in some of the a+r packages andhow that will affect the - usually - high priced original press vinyls?

11/10/09 5:48 AM

Not that the blu-ray wouldn't be cool, but I'm still trying to justify my DVD-A/SACD player. Dead format or not, could we not see a release in this format for a onetime reissue. It would be nice to have a 3rd reason to own the player.

I always visualized accompanying visuals to the music, like a full movie. Something between Zombie's cartoon work in Beavis & Butthead & the Wall movie. Heh.. I was actually thinking of financing a student project for it like 6 years ago.. but of course the redtape. I really hope something like this happens. It is one of the best albums in the modern era and if 1 album deserved it, well..

I'd like for TFA to be included, but actually would be a hell of a lot more impressed if we were to get unleashed upon a plethora of finalised versions of what there's got to be hours and hours of work in semi-started & banked remixes. I can't be the only one who waited with dilated pupils thinking the remix album was going to suck my brain down thru the end of my dick. Sure we ended up loving the TFA 'EP' in all it's minimalistic glory - fuck is it punchy and i DO love it.. but come on, the infinite potential of interpretation with this double album was only ever a beginning with TFA. Shit, I would die.

11/10/09 9:12 AM

^ or how about he releases the multitracks so everyone can "improve upon" TFA themselves?

You wouldn't. That album's not designed to cause heart-attacks. At least i hope so. But i'm not sure i shall not be killed by it. I think i'll be sure if i'll refrain from buying the thing immediately and see what happens to the rest of the world.

and being killed by nin... what a scenario!

I would be quite pleased with an iTunes LP version, but as for a physical release, I'd really just like to see more amazing artwork. The Fragile's packaging was so awesome and different, just like TDS and its re-release. Surround sound mixes are a must on this one, as the material is begging for it. I will go buy a new receiver and speakers for this one.

11/11/09 12:10 AM

Been listening to a fan made Complete Fragile with Still tracks inserted in along with Slipping Away,TGC & the vinyl songs.

Good mix,but I really don't feel the Still songs meshing with The Fragile at all.

I assume that's going to happen anyways, which isn't a bad thing. smiling smiley I'd just rather the camp put something out official that perhaps they didn't have the time (yeah right) or desire to do before the era passed. As big a hard-on I've had for this sweet inevitable day, I've really been in no hurry as I've been more concerned with how much time it would take to do it right. The thing is I believe, if there were to be an extension to TFA - it would have to be now or never. I've said this before, but TFA (as good as it is) is pretty much the anti-remix. Out of 23 original album tracks, we got 6 of those reworked. With this release in surround, decent multi-tracks will happen regardless of their inclusion, and if not unleashed upon now, nobody's gonna care after the sure to be thousands of fan-made spread. Well, of course we would but.. heh

NIN remixes to me have always been engaging & to a certain effect. I just feel like TFA (+) should have been the infinite mindfuck and if that doesn't happen it's a tragedy. With the whole community's fingers in the pie I'm sure we'll end up with some damn good ones, but there will be a LOT of sifting to do. People can throw tracks together and make something sound fairly cool, especially with 'can't go wrong' source material.. but to actually design a remix as emotionally charged, thought inducing & engaging as the original isn't something the average person is going to pull off & by the time we find the gold, the beauty of TF may seem to lose it's lustre.

I'd love to be wrong, but the more I think about it the more I believe there won't be anything new included in this package. In the time they've spent to produce the proto-type, I really doubt they've had the time to do anything more than working this into surround + compiling the b-sides, unless it's been tediously worked on since TR's 1st mention of the possibility. If not, this thing could easily be 8 discs. grinning smiley

Whichever & whatever happens, I'll do what I normally do to preserve the music and leave the multitracks alone and wait for some good compilations. I'm sure sweet justice will prevail, we've got some awesome people in the community and some real talent. I bet people are thinking of titles for their extended remix albums now. Triple disc! 4 hours! Aw hell, I'm excited.

I'm in total agreement.

I have the "vinyl version" on my iTunes and consider it to be the definitive way to hear the album...

But, I also feel the same way about the vinyl version of With Teeth with Home in after Sunspots and before The Line Begins to Blur.

But, all I really ask for with the re-release of The Fragile is the complete album mixed in surround audio. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

from ThePRP.com

"A recent posting on Twitter from Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor reveals that plans for a deluxe 10th anniversary edition of "The Fragile" have been shelved, presumably due to red tape with the bands label. Here's what Reznor had to say:
"Sorry to say deluxe The Fragile has been shelved. But dont be sad: Plans for a deluxe version of Things Falling Apart are full steam ahead!"

i dont see this on TR's or NIN's twitter.. am I alone?

I dunno if it's him or not (I didn't follow him until recently, but it's funny!)

^ HAHAHAHA, that guy's been posting asinine comments for a long time now. it's not Reznor, and was a joke anyway. ThePRP are just being morons, which is weird, because they're usually up on this kind of stuff.

11/13/09 3:57 PM

Im sure its going to come with a book of artwork. Theres a shitload of TF art David Carson created that never got released properly.

whew. thats good. i never ever post anything, but Ive had issues in the past with twitter feeds not refreshing for me, so I'm glad its a hoax. ive been saving my allowance. tongue sticking out smiley

What would be badass to me?
4-Disc Deluxe Edition.

Disc 1 - The Fragile, Left.

Disc 2 - The Fragile, Right.

Disc 3 - Unlreleased songs, demos, live at rehearsals, etc.

Disc 4 - Some bonus stuff, like maybe a concert DVD with a compilation of all songs from the fragile melded into one weird concert DVD. Or maybe some downloadable stuff, multi-track songs, wallpapers, the music videos for the songs that had them, whatever Trent feels like blessing us with would be great by me.

The booklet would be expanded artwork. Maybe redone to look better, like how TDS's booklet was redone for the DE. It would also have a written account on things he might have been thinking while writing the songs, what they could specifically be about, kind of like a small journal or something. I dunno.

I just can't wait for it, personally. It proooobably won't be as extravagent as I hope, but I don't care. Even if it's the exact same Fragile with a few extra pages of artwork, I'm getting it. grinning smiley
